  • Nanny is starting the day off with some PT exercises and a ‘tailgate rant’ on the cost of toilet paper and cat litter….2 mildly related products! ….and this of course leads to a humorous tale of constipation and the various remedies to address it. We will also see Moosie and Nanny enjoying the greatgrands at a recent family birthday party….hear some nostalgic storytelling and see a selection of some of Nanny’s colorful fashions. ❤️

Nanny...yes you need a pooper scoop for the litter. It can last weeks and then you just add a little litter at a time to replace the dirty litter that you removed. I like to use paper lunch bags for the dirty litter. It will degrade so much easier than a plastic bag. 😊

I can still not get used to pay so much for toilet] paper and everything going up. My husband said he will go back to work. I stepped in a hole and tore my meniscus, but like you found out I am bone on bone. Six months ago I was walking every day..sometimes three miles a day. What exercises do you do. I have always been active and a young 67.. I don't want knee replacement yet. Lots of love to you both and the kitties. ❤❤❤❤

Nanny, your videos are filled with wonderful stories, remedies, memories and so much love. As you can see, we adore you. The story about your dad was priceless and so filled with emotion. Thank you for sharing that. The magic remedy that you've been looking for, that my functional MD told me about is called, Magnesium Citrate capsules (but a good quality brand from a health food store or Whole Foods), between 200 and 600mg per day, and it's magic. Just make sure you aren't on any other medication that conflicts with Magnesium Citrate. It's THE BEST.

Hi dear Nanny and Moosie, such a fabulous video, I love having a chat with you, even if you can’t hear me, I have so much in common with you and I feel like I’ve known you for ever. I must say I was so suprised when I heard you mention Milk of Magnesia, as I always have a bottle or two in my medicine chest, it always does the trick for me, my Mum always used to give it to me as a child too, yuk! Tastes bad but does work. I am the 82 and I have just had a knee replacement, and it’s fine and I do my excersises every day, same as you. Moosie looks so happy with the kids and they obviously adore him too. I’m so looking forward to your next video, so bye for now, take good care and god bless. Love from Sandra in the U.K. xx♥️

Nanny, as ever, you are nothing short of fabulous! 😍 As someone who has suffered from constipation all my life I have a tip for you. Chia seeds. You can put them in soup, sauces etc. and they don't have much taste but work wonders. Also Magnesium. I'm with you on Milk of Magnesium, it's yukky, but Magnesium capsules are brilliant. If I can be a bit graphic, I "go" every day now, and quite often twice a day, which has been a game-changer for me 😃

I’ve fallen for those “at home” remedies that try to sell you something. Irritating. So sweet the little girls hugging Moosie. I was born at Fort Knox when my Dad was in the Army Air Corps. Nice you have such sweet memories of your parents! I use to sift my cat’s litter box and they did fine. You can do it once or sometimes twice before you need to put in fresh litter. My hubby has trouble with constipation. I worry because my uncle had a stroke on the toilet. Its important to not have that problem. He takes colace tablets and metimucil and still has trouble. Molasses helps take about 2 Tablespoons. Mirlax added to hubby's metimucil is what the doctor told us. Months ago I did not go for 8 days. Nothing worked I took mucinex for sinus and I think that caused it not sure. I have thyroid meds for problems and wondered if thyroid caused it. I was scared. If we take too much might not make it to the bathroom. I am 81. Frustrating. Thank you for sharing. God Bless you all.

  • @phoebewalker1664
    @phoebewalker1664 5 місяців тому +2

I am going to speak very frankly here, so if someone is offended by bodily functions, don't read any further!
I have had the same issue with constipation since I was a child. In the past few years, I have found a fairly reliable solution. I try to drink several glasses of liquid every day. I also take 200 to 300 mg of stool softener every day, along with 300 or 400 mg of magnesium citrate or magnesium glycinate in capsule form. That is much easier to swallow than milk of magnesia! Magnesium is also a good muscle relaxant, so it helps with muscle spasms, if you have them. Stool softener is not the same as a laxative. You do not become dependent on it and it's okay to take it daily, according to my doctor.
If you have a problem going the other way (towards loose stools), just cut back on the magnesium for a day or two.
I hope it works for you and keeps you from having to ever take a dose of MOM ever again!

    • @crushingtheir80snannyandmoose

Hello again dear Nanny and Moosie....another fun and delightful video. Yes, TP and cat litter are a part of our life too! We have two kitties and two litter boxes. We use the Fresh Step "clumping' type of litter and use a litter scoop to clean out the boxes daily sometimes twice a day scooping out the clumps that the litter holds....then sprinkle some cat litter fragrance powder...Baking Soda in the yellow and green box which really does the joy. This really saves on the use of replacing fresh litter too often, smells great and the cats seem to be ok with it. Love the segment of the great grand kiddos and Moosie. Also the tender memory of your dear dad and his loving concern for you always. Looking forward to your Easter bonnet video to follow. Yes, I remember the anticipation of getting a new Easter outfit along with those white lace anklets, white cloves, a new little pocketbook and of course a new Easter bonnet. Few women or children wear Easter bonnets now adays! I loved getting my new Easter patten leather shoes...all shiny with a Mary Jane strap. Something is lost when dressing up special for holidays is no longer the norm. Time for some peanut butter eggs so will close for now.

Let me tell you a little potty humor from my mother in law and myself. I guess it could have turned out bad, but it didn't, so I will share. I am 73 years old and this happened when I had my second child, 48 years ago. At the hospital I was told that I couldn't go home until I had a BM. I always had problems with constipation so I wasn't surprised that on my second day being in the hospital I still hadn't seen any action. That day when the nurse ask me if I had gone to the bathroom I told her I had because I was so ready to go home with my new baby girl.....so they released me. After I went to my mother in laws house to recoup from the birth I was still very constipationed. After 2 weeks of this problem I finally told my mil I had not had a BM since leaving the hospital. Well, you should have seen the look on her face......her remedy was milk of magnesium and prune juice mixed together. .....equaled half a cup......in just a little while my problem was solved. She gave me this mixture every day for about a week. She warned me about the problems that kind of constipation could cause me.......hope this rabbit hole story wasn't too long and boring. .....lol.....

Oh, Beverly…your story is soooo relatable…I went through that with all our births, too…mom always came through with the Milk of Magnesia eventually.❤️

Oh Nanny I simply love your videos-no offense over the little problems we all have. And of course the touching memory about your dad was so special! I think this was one of the best videos yet! And don’t forget all the gorgeous clothes! You have a way of making me feel young again. You inspire me and encourage me. Thank you so much for taking the time and making the effort to make such fun and heartwarming videos! And I certainly can’t forget to mention Moosie with his great sense of humor and all those beautiful children (great grands) around him. Wonderful!!! Love y’all ❤️❤️

My dad grew up on a rural farm. They had an outhouse, and used the Sears catalog for TP. They also used corncobs after the corn was removed. Repurposing at its finest! 😂

Love your videos, Nanny. So happy to see you all so happy and healthy. :) ps I think that many elders get constipated due to certain meds. . annoying for sure.

Loved spending time with you and Moose in the beautiful sunshine….you were absolutely glowing today. There’s nothing that you discuss that’s ever offensive…..just pure reality…..and we’ve all been there at one time or another. I heard that prunes were good for your bones so started eating 5 each day, and the bonus is that it gets everything moving daily as it should. I chop them up and have them with my yogurt and fruit every morning….delicious. Hugs to both of you🤗😘

Thanks Nanny and Moosie! I found this video very entertaining. Not offended one bit by 'potty' topic. Remember when I was doing nurse's aide training the instructor said, "90% of what we focus on is digestion and keeping our patients regular." Thanks for mentioning Ft Knox,Ky.

What a sweet story about your Daddy. I also was the only girl with 2 brothers. My daddy was my hero and always was concerned with every aspect of my life until he passed in 1998. I’m 72 and miss my mother & daddy so much and I also tear up over the many sweet memories of them. God bless you & Moosie!!

Your sweet tears talking about your father….I do the same, always a daddy’s girl no matter how old we get❤️. Toilet paper prices are absurd…I’ve had to stop being a toilet paper snob and settle on what’s a bit less expensive, goodbye Charmin.

Yes, definitely keep scooping the kitty waste into a bag.....don't have to completely empty it each time. We had 3 indoor cats at the same time for many, many years. When we adopted the male stray kitten we did get a 2nd litter box which he used. The 'old girls' were a little stressed with this young male in the house! You can tell when it's time to completely empty and wash & sterilize the containers, but they're good for a long time just by DAILY scooping urine & feces, and adding a little more fresh litter on top when needed. Have you tried taking RESTORALAX? Tasteless powder that completely dissolves in your tea or coffee. It is recommended after joint replacement surgery because of constipation caused by the narcotic pain meds. Very gentle and works great without cramping, etc.. I've tried the cheaper generic dupe but I found it was granular and didn't dissolve completely, so texture was not nice. In my opinion it's worth the price to buy the brand name, and if quite often goes on sale in Costco. I find eating a couple pitted prunes each day works well too if you like them! Changing the subject (LOL) your grandchildren are adorable and you can see the love in their little faces. Grandkids are the BEST! 🥰

Good morning Nanny. It is outrageous how much the prices of everything has gone up. Once a year the Social Security gives us a tiny increase. What are seniors to do ?!?!?! One over the counter medication that I have to take went up $4.00 in one jump. It lasts me three weeks. Every item that I require to live is becoming a burden. We are to the point that we can barely afford the necessities let alone some things that we would like to have. I know what you mean about the pain. I try to stretch but I am not as limber as you. We need to do our best. The pizza bread sounds delicious and the eggs are so pretty. It is clear how close you and your father were. Nanny, personally I am glad that someone talks about real life. Everyone experiences these things. Yes you address the topics tastefully. It was wonderful to see Moose and Shamu enjoying the weather. How nice that you got to visit the children while they had their pool party. I hope that you had a nice Visit with Billy and Bonnie. Blessings to you both, love, Sharon
