We are Maddy and Zach, we bought a school bus to convert into a tiny house 4 years ago. It is now week 12 of bus life and our last week in Colorado. So in this video, we are reflecting on the trip and our journey of becoming nomads.
We hope you enjoyed this video and consider subscribing to see where this adventure takes us!
I passed you all on I-80 yesterday outside of grand island
No way!! Awesome, hope you had a safe trip!
Buy yourselves a propane Little Buddy heater. They are small and easy to store. It will guzzle down 1 pound bottle in about four hours, but you can buy a conversion hose to got from the small bottle to the big 20lb barbecue bottle. I heated my last bus through a South Dakota winter with one and it did great. Now it did struggle a bit at -0 temps, but so will most other small heaters and thankfully we only dealt with just a few days with it, so all and all it did great the whole winter.
The conversion hose for my buddy heater was a good investment❤😊
We got the buddy heater but definitely need that conversion hose! Thanks for the recommendation!
Don't forget to get the fuel filter as well !! 😉
@@maddyandzach I got my conversion hose from Tractor Supply.
Congratulations on your first few months of bus life and on graduation :) My wife and I are hoping to finish our 2-year build this summer and finally do the thing! I appreciate your video to hear about the realities of things sometimes going wrong but the joy of having your dream paying off. You two are so inspiring!

You guys appear super wealthy, why not just buy a luxury RV?
We are definitely not wealthy haha. It took us three years spending all of our money from working full-time. The bus allowed us to have a luxury RV for half the cost.
You guys are doing great. Jumped some unexpected hurdles along the way too and still worked through and carried on without giving up on the dream. Good thing you did. As you get older, especially if you decide to have a child or two, you don't always get the opportunity to carry on in adverse condtions since you have other priorities now. Are you going with a mini split for AC??? 12,000BTU should work great for that size bus. That'll be a treat for those hot and/or humid locations. Honestly, the MaxxAire or similar fan even in the summer in many locations is all you need, but AC sure is nice. And once you have it and get spoiled with it, you'll never be without it again. Keep on Keepin' on !!!
Thank you as always! We are going with a minisplit but a 9,000 btu unit because it is 110 - 120v instead of the 230v. We are super excited though!
@@maddyandzach Smart move, and 9K should be plenty for a shorter bus. Might have to shade the bus in very hot conditions but you'll be able to make 9K work for sure.
