I missed the times when Baltimore had an ESPN Zone to where it was a restaurant, sports bar and a video game arcade at the top level. Then, it was the Gallery and Light Street Pavilion to where all the shopping beings and the Best Buy that on the top level before it was a Marshall’s, to where I am surrounded with electronics and gaming all day. Despite the negativity you often hear about " Charm City " I found the folks the friendliest I've met in any city in the United States. There are many attractions and entertainment venues to enjoy. Don't pass up on the inexpensive seafood.
Places to visit: Baltimore museum of art, American visionary art museum, the Walters art museum, Baltimore streetcar museum, Edgar Allan Poe house and museum, babe Ruth birthplace and museum, The great Blacks and wax museum and that's just to start I have a plethora of places to go. Every city I go to I always go to the historical spots there and there are tons of them in Baltimore. Most of the places are found in Google. Even though most of Baltimore is kind of sketchy, I went in 2015, and LOVED it! I went to the aquarium, science center, Urban Pirates, and I even went to an Orioles game against my Yankees! I was lucky to go that few days, because after a few weeks from that, the Inner Harbor area was all civil unrest due to Freddie Grey’s death. I was devastated to hear that, but I will be eventually going back to see another Orioles game against the Yanks, and maybe check out Fell’s Point, downtown Baltimore, and Little Italy.
I see a lot of negativity here and I'm going to point out a few things. First things first Baltimore is one of the most historic cities in the country. There is a lot of Rich history here. Leave and go into the bad neighborhoods that's where the bad stuff is people that come to visit don't go there anyway so there is a very low chance of getting shot in all of that this is coming from someone that lives here. Areas to visit are the inner harbor, all the museums mostly on the Little Italy side, Little Italy, fort McHenry, fells point, Canton just to name a few all those places have top notch restaurants in all types of restaurants that most can afford.
Baltimore isn't the ideal tourist town. It's a good place to live though. You have mountains pretty close. Beach is 3 hours away during the summer. DC is close. Philly isn't that far of a drive. NYC could be a 3 day weekend trip. But, I'm guessing you can say that about most cities in the US about tourist things. I think LA and NYC are definitely the exceptions. Haven't really traveled south that much.
So much negativity in tge comments. I lived in Baltimore for 20 years and never had problems. Yes, there are bad parts of the city that have been neglected and are dangerous but overall its a great city with lots of cool stuff.
If you to the Inner Harbor or downtown now it's a ghost town now under the city 's " child like " mayor who dosen't have a clue how to run a city.Pack yourself well with protection because you will need it if you take the chance to visit , good luck 😢
@OnViewCation I was born and grew up in SE Baltimore by Patterson Park. It was an absolute beautiful place. To this day I'm so happy to be from Highlandtown. I would not want to grow up anywhere else! I'm 51 and during the 90's everyone left and crime took over. There were no renters, everyone was buying and took care of the neighborhood. If you're living in Baltimore long enough now, you'll get robbed, your car broken in/stolen, your kids beaten up, drugs. It's much more safer to leave. I live a peaceful and happy quiet life now. I don't for any reason drive near the city anymore. I choose life ( my own).
Hello! Anyone please do let me know about Baltimore are near John Hopkins Hospital as I have heard its surrounded by bad neighborhoods. I’m a nurse so want to move to John Hopkins hospital.
@renuchaudhary7440 it's a lot of drug & gang violence around there. The only somewhat safe part of the city is near the inner harbor, fells point area & even then, only during the daytime. Outside the city is very nice if u want to commute in but until they get the squeegie kid situation under control, I wouldn't even do that.
Don’t waste your time with the science center it hasn’t really changed in 30 years the aquarium is fun but expensive and I mean very expensive keep your head on a swivel because you have a certain demographic downtown that will try to rob you and hurt you The Baltimore zoo is fun But can be sketchy in the surrounding neighborhood
