    Jab, followed by either a step forward and another jab that lands or a jab followed by a straight punch and a chasse to the chest or head to exit myself from the situation

      I like it. First jab to range, second to score. Or switch to chassé which will also limit your opponent's counter opportunity. Good cycle.

    I like it as something that can interrupt anything except maybe most of the "bas" kicks, which are themselves good interrupting techniques too.

    • @LondonSavate
      @LondonSavate  2 роки тому

      Yep, jab is quick enough to use as interruption almost any time, that's a good call. I replied to someone else asking about leg (bas) kicks and, certainly, jab won't be enough, but I find jab plus dancing/moving can be. Worth experimenting with.

      @@LondonSavate when someone is throwing a kick at your legs, I would reccomend checking it. I don't know if it is allowed in this sport but that is what I would ideally do. If it is a kick to your calf muscle, lift your leg up. That requires a lot of practice.

      @@zuccsucc476 Thanks, but is not a recommendation that anyone in Savate can take up. That's a Thai boxing move, illegal in Savate. In fact,. I find it takes a lot of practice for thai fighters to learn to forget it and find Savate alternatives. (Ideally I'd recommend footwork escapes)

    Great tool to distract, set up combinations, get in/out of range and 'fill the voids' in transitions punching-kicking/ kicking-punching distance as well as creating angles with Décalage and Débordemént. Great material as always in this channel, saludos desde Chile.

      Glad you find it useful in Chile. Sounds like you use nice, Savate-focussed footwork in your jab game. Keep up the good work.

    Is it true that you can not throw big punch combos in savate? Some claim that it is against the rules to throw many consecutive punches, without using kicks.

    • @LondonSavate
      @LondonSavate  Рік тому +1

      Hi Adnan, thanks for asking, and you are right. There is a rule 'prédominance des enchaînements de coups de poings' ('predominance of punch combinations') which a referee can use to stop a fighter if they are gaining an advantage from using too many punch techniques. The judges are also trained not to keep scoring punch points until it is broken up by a kick.

      @@LondonSavate , thank you for your detailed answer! I've asked, because I've seen a fight in which one of the fighters was swinging for the fences and was forgetting for the kicks and this was definitely giving him an advantage. And I've started doubting about this rule, after watching that particular fight. Anyway, thanks for the answer! :)

      @@adnanadil4498 (edit, got your name wrong before, apologies). Sounds like that could be a Savate Pro fight, in which the rules are deliberately not as strict. Have seen one being passed around reddit, for example.

    Does the feint version of the jab set up Chassé Bas?

    • @LondonSavate
      @LondonSavate  2 роки тому

      That sounds like a good idea. Feint high, go low. And the chassé would make it hard for the opponent to reply. Try it, tell me what you find.

    I like using the jab to find range as I find it requires less commitment than a kick.
    However that does mean I can sometimes be in range for someone’s kick while trying to establish the jab.
    Any tips?

    • @LondonSavate
      @LondonSavate  2 роки тому

      Have you tried dancing? No joke, I find if I am seeking to establish jabs and it is making my front leg vulnerable, I'll keep twitching, sliding, and dancing the front leg in order to be evasive.

    • @zuccsucc476
      @zuccsucc476 2 роки тому

      You definitely don't want to throw blind kicks(kicks that weren't set up by punches) . The thing about the jab is when you throw it your shoulder is blocking your chin and the other hand that is up is blocking the other side of your face. You may be open to body shots but if they throw a kick when you land a good jab, it will off balance them. Your jab is a range finder but also a range keeper. It can keep the fight where you want it if you're a taller guy, but if you're the shorter fighter, you can disguise your movements to get in close.

    • @LondonSavate
      @LondonSavate  2 роки тому

      @@zuccsucc476 I agree with a lot of that, but in Savate we do throw the majority of our kicks from outside, not set-up by a punch (what you call blind). See point 2 in the video. The range-finding, off-balancing 'jab' output in Savate is usually done with the front leg. And the shorter guy usually wants to get into kick range, no closer.
