Don't Tell A Soul was such an epic album. I don't think it gets its due - like everything after Pleased to Meet Me. These two songs in particular are just stellar. My first show was the Don't Tell a Soul tour 1989, Charlotte NC.
It IS a good album - Inherit the earth, Anywhere is better, Talent. When I first bought it I thought it was pretty much of a dog, but, it grew one. Now just listening to it twenty three! years down the pike It's real good!
I'm 59. And we *DID* rock the Replacements since 1984 LOL. Used Answering Machine in this video ua-cam.com/video/wF1geAQ31_4/v-deo.html New Jersey AG Wants KingCast to Stop Emailing About Karma of Westfield and USAA Car Sale Fraud.
I LOVE LOVE THIS I bought the cassette when the album came out it was early 80's same time I got into sonic youth which was a way different band but super cool guitar and the girl singer was awesome great memories
My favourite stuff is from Tim, Let It Be and Pleased to Meet Me. But, all the way through first record to last Westerberg's songs are amazing. Only saw them twice, but I catch Tommy every time I can. I feel sorry for the folks that love Color Me Impressed and don't get the brilliance of Achin' To Be. Paul talked about the guys, maybe at the back of the hall, that were hoping to hear some of The Replacements quiet ones. Trust me, there are lots of them there. Give me Little Mascara, then Skyway. Check out Tommy's stuff if you don't know it. Bash and Pop.... NOTHING is amazing.
Yeah Bash and Pop was good. I get annoyed with those fans who only like the early punk stuff. I like Hootenanny though Dr Tell a Soul, not that All Shook Down doesn't have some fine songs (Sadly Beautiful/Nobody/All shook down) . Wow Talent Show and Achin to Be! Back to Back (also a great song). Paul was uneven on his own but 14 songs is great and even turned out songs in the 2000s like Ghost on the Canvas. Love you in the Fall for a movie in 2006 was good and Tears Rolling Up your Sleeves and dozens of others after 2000.
@@oppothumbs1 I’m one of the rare mats fans thar loves their music from hootenanny to all shook down. Of course all of Paul’s solo stuff and bash n pop. The most recent bash n pop album is the best stuff Tommy’s done.
Just in case you wondered what it's like to be drunk off your ass, completely f*** up the song ...and still be better than 99.9% of the bands out there. #MATS
Yeah, I know he's a great guitarist, but I've seen him do this a bunch of times.... saw him really mess up Another Girl Another Planet so badly that Paul and Tommy were wetting their pants!!!
Hahaha. Have to reply to myself and say it's TAKING A RIDE. That said, I could be wrong, but I think they did a live cover of Hitchin' a Ride that I heard. Don't quote me on that!
Love that they switched from Talent Show to Portland. So cool.
Good knowledge
I love how they play live. It’s like hanging out and jamming in a buddy’s garage, only the songs are stellar.
If you have been in a band you know how this is gold!!! So genuine...

Amen sister
And the playing isn’t horrible and there’s subtlety and taste

Don't Tell A Soul is highly undervalued. Westerberg's writing is gold.
I can't tell youse how much you guys energize me. All the love.
The Mats forever!
They are still the coolest band on the planet

Thx
Iconic band 😊❤️🎼🎶I wish I could’ve been there.
Amazing how Paul’s voice still sounded so good live. Peter Case from the Plimsouls kind of reminds me of him a bit.

Dave tried to get them to do Nowhere is My Home. The flesh was willing, but the souls weren’t able
Blistering, Dave Minehan held this down!
Drunk, Drunk, Drunk!!!!!
Best band that didn't want to be famous.
Paul is wearing roomy pants! Paul!
Poor Dave pooped on this one. : )

Two thumbs have gone down, and should be removed in consequence.
There are always haters. Who cares? Some fans really don't like The Mats later stuff.... their loss. Hitchin' A Ride to Merry Go Round. Love it.

Pro's have got to know how to play drunk. Playing smashed sucks.
