    I just had my hitch put in by the Tesla mobile service. it’s certainly not inexpensive but he did it much simpler and didn’t have all these pieces that you took off. He was able to do it without even taking off the rear bumper cover basically done in about 45 minutes. Not a scratch on it.

      @@pg6557 then he didn't add the whole hitch and probably just installed a receiver for you. Look at the design. The oem him hitch replaces the crash bar behind the bumper. There is no way you are replacing that without removing the bumper cover. Just look at the forums of people that had oem hitch installed after purchase. Some of them saying it took 3 hours. I didn't scratch mine so I would hope tesla service wouldn't either. The easiest option is definitely just order the car with the hitch or pay 1300 after the fact to tesla

    So I have an eco hitch that I use for my bike rack. Have you found a way to either enable tow mode if the hitch is not installed from Tesla or disable the rear parking sensors so they aren’t constantly going off?

      You can go to controls then safety then park assist chimes and see if that's what you're looking for. Or you have to find a Tesla Ranger that will do it for you

    how did you scratch up your bumper cap...?

    • @Shiftheads
      @Shiftheads  2 місяці тому

      Not sure what you mean. Nothing is scratched. Where in the video are you referencing?

    • @tedr00007
      @tedr00007 2 місяці тому

      Towards the end of the video, when you are reattaching the bumper cap there appears to be spots on the bumper cap below the rear lights. Those spots weren’t on the cap earlier in the video.
      I’m not trying to be difficult or mean, I just wondered what happened.

      @tedr00007 I see where you're talking about @15:45 it was just a mark from dirty hands, water, or something. There's nothing on the bumper though. You definitely want a blanket under the car like I had though to avoid anything like that.

      Happy to hear. I just got a Y and I love it. I’d be a tad upset if I scratched mine!

    Have you tried installing the wiring?

    • @Shiftheads
      @Shiftheads  5 місяців тому

      I have the wiring kit but my plan is to find a factory one off ebay or something like that and use that instead. I read someone made one of the tesla ones with proper connector so I may go that route if I can't find one.

      @@Shiftheads Could you find it?

      There's a harness on ebay right now for a model y and also search Google for diy model y tow harness and look for a thread on tesla motor club where a guy built his own harness.

    Two under carriage and two fender rivets spin with the bolt. I hate this car!

    • @Shiftheads
      @Shiftheads  26 днів тому +1

      That means the part the nut was sitting in cracked. You have to stick a screwdriver or needle nose or something to hold it. It is pretty bad how they break easily. You gotta use hand tools for those and even those crack it sometimes

      @@Shiftheads tried everything. The only thing that worked were vice grips. Took sometime to squeeze them in there but the jobs done finally!

      @@Low_key_Los I had to do the same. It's a poor design for sure.
