I like the screen free angle! We try to avoid screens on short flights. But we do let our 6 year old watch movies on long international flights (15ish hours). I remember tomodachi! My sister used to love those. 🌺✈ Heidi
Great ideas! We also have snacks and fun things to do, but I do let them watch a movie. We barely do screen throughout our weeks. They probably get a family movie night every other week or weekly depending on what we’re doing. Watching a movie on the iPad is a novelty for our kids, and a treat for travel. We leave tomorrow for 10 days, I’m folding laundry and finishing packing as I listened to your video! Thanks for great ideas!
We drive 5 hours back and forth, but we do it screen free as well. All 4 of mine are 7 and under and they are into little tiny toys, so they each have a pencil box with a few things each in it to play with on the ride.
These are great! We have done it with kids all younger then yours but did have the iPad with headphones as back u. We didn’t use it until the last like 2 hours of a 9 hour trip. But looking at some of these since we’re not traveling this holiday season , I now have great stocking stuffers!! Happy traveling
Those paint by sticker books are the best/top travel toy ever. My 8 year old did an 8 hour car trip just working on the Masterpieces sticker book. I can’t wait to get the Christmas book for my boys this December. Another item we always take is the single-player logic games from Smart Games. Rush Hour is one but there are many others in travel size as well!
Good job being a thoughtful caring loving active and involved momma in your kid's lives! Keep up the good hard work! God bless you and your family and i pray He prepares a safe & fun family quality time there and back!
We traveled from IL to FL last week with our 9, 8, 2 1/2 yr old and 17 month old and my philosophy was, “the plane ride is your entertainment.” No screens here, either. You have good ideas though!
Love this video. We always carry our mini set of classic games like chess, checkers and cards (Target usually has them for $5 during the holidays). We use them when we go out to dinner or long road trips. Excuse me while I run to Target to relive my childhood with those Tamagotchi lookalikes 😂.
I’m 2nd out of 4 girls and I loved watching this, me and my mum always talk about packing and we are going away in may!!! My birth month, but yeah this video will be on my tv to show my mum very soon
Love these "screen free" ideas! My 4 yo daughter has a tablet that her grandmother bought her a couple years ago, but I really try not to use it very much. I want her to learn how to do other things to entertain herself, just like you mentioned. I refuse to let her be a teenager that's glued to her phone screen one day! lol
Hey Ashley! Can you provide some insight into the books your son reads? Trying to find some good Christian reads for preteens! He’s read several Tuttle twins but don’t know where to head next!
That Star Wars thumb wrestling thing made me LAUGH! We are headed to Kentucky to visit family for the entire Thanksgiving week. We're driving from Arkansas, so about 10 hours. And we will be staying a night at Natural Bridge State Park lodge which I am really looking forward to! I love to see how it's decorated for Christmas! Happy Thanksgiving, Ashlee!
Headed to Florida and then central Illinois for Thanksgiving. Enjoy the cold weather & hopefully there will still be snow for you guys to enjoy in Michigan... I'm guessing they got snow? We did in Chicago area , so they probably did too...Enjoy!
I love this. Im sure they loved getting to choose the fun snacks and new things to bring. We recently drove from Georgia to Indiana to visit my husbands parents. It was at least 13 hours from A to B. We have 4 year old twin boys and a 6 year old girl. We didn’t bring their kindles at all. They were fine. I actually loathe the tablets because we don’t have them often but when they do, they want them all the time. If we put them away completely they forget about them and don’t even ask. We packed similar items for our long drive. I also laughed when I bought them CD disc mans to listen to audio books 😂 Same thing I used as a kid!
All great ideas! Thanks for sharing. We haven't taken our kids on an airplane yet so I'm glad I saw this video for when we do. Also, YES TAMAGOTCHIS!!! I use to have those too haha. As a kid I also collected Pogs 😏 do you remember those?
THANK GOD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL. I’m getting ready to start homeschooling my three children this coming year. Can you maybe answer a question I have? I’ve looked all over Pinterest and google and I can’t seem to get a straight answer. Lol! It’s it ok if I worked with each child through their work individually at a time in the day? Or do all kids need to be doing their school subjects at the same time? 😬 it might be a silly one but I’m seriously curious. I imagine starting the day with my oldest and working through her work for the day, once she’s completed her work. Then I would move onto my middle child. Are there specific guidelines? Or can I work with them individually like I’m hoping?♥️♥️♥️ Ps your amazing. Thank you for being raw and letting us all know your not perfect Perfect. None of us are. ♥️

Keeping screens to a minimum is so important for so many reasons eye health being one of them! You are a great mom.
these would make good stocking stuffers as well! thanks for the tips! I love target! colored squishies! oh my word; my kids would flip out!
Looking out the window during trips was our TV, DVD, and weather segment! LOL! Have a safe trip and lots of fun!!

I forgot to add, have you checked mind benders? It’s an activity book, has several levels, my boys like it a lot.

Lydia Hubbard perfect!
I love this idea! You all are such an inspiration! I’ve begun checking ingredients on foods now for us all to try and eat better!

I say the same thing to my kids when they are bored during "long" car rides, "Look out the window." Great video!
I don't think you realise how boring it is to stare at nothing but clouds for 3 hours straight

Traveling to Alaska and I am so happy you posted this!! Thanks for sharing all your good ideas!
We have some fun trips planned, and some open time for any impromptu trips! So excited! So proud of you for going screen free!
Christina W Thankyou so much!
