Your videos are always getting better and better. Love the jet ski videos, the hydro line, and sidebysides. You should do an offroad and camping video with big green

When rope snaps it does not fall to the ground it just carries less tension then cable

You should include using a snatch block in a winch demo video, and how it can double the pulling power of the winch when your really suck of want to pull something really heavy.

sfakach t And by using a snatch block you also use more of the winshes wire and making it "stronger" by less diameter on the drum. As he taked about here, the winch si strongest with all of the wire spooled out. Sorry, bad English.

Cable. I had a rope superwinch 4500 on my pioneer and broke 4 ropes in 5 years. Even had a tree saver on it and used a block when needed. Never broke a cable with a side by side

Opps! careful Steve,..you said 'rope' does not whip back when it breaks , it just falls to the ground, ( something like that ) , but this only applies to synthetic winch rope. Regular rope like nylon
or poly. will whip back like a bull whip and 'gawd' help the person who's in the path of that; same with the more common wire ropes, they will whip too.
I'd like to know who makes the Polaris branded winch, Warn, SuperWinch ...or who?

I think the real question is can it winch me a sandwich? I prefer to not leave the couch or my vehicle...ever.
I know your next question...and yes, I wear astronaut diapers to fulfill this preference.

I have a Polaris 2 up ATV and my winch has saved me and family twice now both times separate occasions but in lake be mud here in NM. What a pain in the rear but the winch pulled out my Jeep JK and my other ATV on separate occasions never been so thankful for my ATV coming with a winch. :)

This was an outstanding video! I love the tests like the lake test and wireless remote distance test you did. Excellent real world testing without any shortcuts. Very well done.

Wireless working distance heavily depends on saturation from other sources.. you are in an ideal scenario.

Excellent demonstrations. Excellent information. I have never used a rope before.(on a winch) So that was very interesting. Glad you told people about how the strength is not what it is rated at when it is not fully extended. People assume it works at max when only a few feet are pulled out. Same with your block moving.(I had no doubt the 4K was going nowhere) If there is 1 thing I am curious about, is do you have any idea how much strength your line would pull at say 1/2 the distance? 2250? lol Something worth experimenting with. ;)

    Bigfoot sighting @7:36! :D
Quite a few safety-related cautions could/should have been included, imo. You don't want to spool the line out "all the way," you need at least a few turns on the drum for pulling power. Otherwise you could break the pin anchoring the line to the drum. Did you use a tree-saver strap? Many SxS's, if put in Park, can snap off the park pawl too easily if pulling against that, but thanks for showing you had the brakes on also.

Park the Ranger about 8 feet from the large 4000lb block, then Hook a snatch block to a tree somewhere and then run the winch cable from the Ranger through the snatch block and back to that large concrete block, In a triangle, and it may pull the 4000lb block, or pull the Ranger. I'm betting it pulls the Ranger. Or burns the winch up. lol.

it's not entirely true that a winch rope just falls to the ground when it snaps. another channel on youtube did a demonstration of what happens when both steel cables and ropes snap on a winch (ua-cam.com/video/97XqNX3yFTk/v-deo.html), and while the steel cable was definitely more destructive the rope still snapped and recoiled with considerable speed
