  • This short video highlights some of the shortcomings of two topologies that tried to address the housing crisis of industrialised centres. The ‘Birmingham Back-to-Backs’ and The New York Tenements of Lower Manhattan. Both of which suffered from their proximity to heavy industry, inadequate space and were poorly ventilated and offered very little or no natural light. All of which would have contributed to the misery and ill health of the Labouring Class who inhabited them.
