- We are Michael and acacia , living and traveling full time in our self converted van yeti. Uncovering hidden gems and places to visit hoping to inspire you to get outdoors and travel local. This week we visit 22 waterfalls just outside porterville.
22 waterfalls is an epic campsite only 160 km from Cape Town. This is the ideal spot for outdoorsy people who enjoy spending time in nature. After a short gravel road you’ll find this campsite located on a farm along a stream. There are loads of campsites that all run along the stream tucked under the treetops alongside.
After setting up camp we lit a fire and enjoyed the last bits of sunlight sneaking through the trees.
Waking up the next morning and taking it slow we decided to make breakfast on the fire with our friends from awesome road trip. Erin treated us to her home made sourdough and we made yummy cheese & spinach jaffels. Once our bodies were fueld up we decided to take a mid morning hike. This hike is the whole reason we came back to this campsite. Incase you missed that video well link it above.
The farm took its name from this hike as you follow the river upstream taking you past 22 waterfalls ! Yes you heard that correct. Not even a 5km in and out hike but don’t be fooled by the elevation! Since you see 22 waterfalls along the way , it means you go from the bottom of the one you looking at to the top of it which is the bottom of the next. Some are larger than others but each spectacular to see as they change. This hike can be considered a climb, there are very steep parts which wouldn’t be for you if your afraid of heights. With some ladders to help as you ultimately scale the gorge. If you are fit , don’t mind a scramble and enjoy waterfalls this is a must! This hike took us around 5 hours so we would recommend packing some snacks and water to keep you going. Since you hike up along the river you are under the shade of trees for whole way.
Back at camp we cooked up some lunch and relaxed alongside the river. Very peaceful campsite with the sound of water running through and birds in the trees.
Join us next week for more videos just like this ! Finding epic campsites , bucketlist hiking trails and gems around the country.

Definitely worth a visit!
Hey Michael, I asked you before as well but I am asking you one more time if you can answer I will be glad. I think I watched all of your videos and I watched many van life videos vlogs- and some of them has huge followers and I think you make the best videos in the world about van life as I watched. I want to say that I am really into vanlife and also cooking and making videos about it etc. My question is to you Can you tell me which devices you have it to make this videos. All camera-pc-mic drone models etc. All of them even sticks and bags. Its very obvious you have very professional background about making videos especially your backplan music, different camera shots are amazing and unique..If you can tell me the machines I will just make cost calculation for me :) I love you guys-
Hey! Thanks so much 🙋♂️ happy to hear you like our films and van life content.
It's definitely not so much about the gear its more about capturing those important moments that tell a story and then piecing it together nicely. I sometimes use my main camera for a film and sometimes just a gopro so gear definitely isn't the way to tackle this. But I use a Fujifilm XT4, GoPro 9 and a Mavic Air 2
@@MichaelandAcacia thank you so much Michael I am really excited to see your next videos and I am going to learn a lot from your videos for sure.
Lekker! I did the hike once but never got to the top as we ran out of time.
We also didn't make it to the top the first time. But thats why we came back again to complete it 🙋♂️ but I must say the last waterfall is rather disappointing 😕 🤣 was expecting more 😅
Hi what do you both do for an income?
We work for ourselves 🙋♂️
