Beautiful work, I was just looking at my near empty zippo can the other day thinking of doing something similar but with hardware store parts instead of the handmade bass you used.
Over built with great craftsmanship ! Love it ! That was cool the way the knurling (sp?) grip was added...always wondered how that was done . An idea ... if a cap was added to the flint stem , then it would be 100% waterproof until needed ! Also , small brass tubes (w/caps) could be soldered on side for extra flints , wicks and wick pick and maybe some chain or wire for caps on the Super-Duper DX model , the perfect survival fire and light source .
Perfect. This is what I was searching in online shops but even douglass doesn't have such a nice lighters. Good, its truely waterproof and hold good amount of fuel as well.
I would have solder seam both cans at the base , and add a chain to hold the cap to the lighter body. It is a very nice project outcome. Greetings from Brookfield Ct. USA
That is MAJESTIC!!! Beautifully Done And Brilliantly Creative. I have just been to the UA-cam museum and have been standing with my jaw agape staring at this uber artful piece! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Que hermoso quedó ese encendedor, que ingenioso eres Elitman, ya que hiciste un excelente trabajo..!! Yo aquí tengo una lata de gasolina igual al encendedor que se hizo..!! Yo quiero uno..!! Excelente video
its called craftsmanship & pride in your work. excellent job! America was once a Country that made things - great things. our people took pride in their chosen fields, even the weekend hobbyists. people like this guy are a dying breed. they take time to draft an idea create plans, following them precisely, using patience and proper quality machines/tools. the result - a best in class hand-made product! we are in instant gratification world now with internet n tech moving at warp speed. it was so good to see a video with the antithesis of our new world mantra affecting so many young kids and 20 somethings. there is value in doing things as those before us once did. we’re losing respect for traditions, just discounting wisdom of those before us as we would the technology in a 10 yr old car. i feel that has been a mistake of society. i hope that might change before it’s too late? sorry i went long - as i was writing it just turned nostalgically stream of consciousness for me. ☺️
That is pretty cool you have talent and imagination and I wish I could have one it is so cool made from a can of zippo that I never see anything like this before I love it look really good that you would think that it was made like that many years ago but you just did it from a can of zippo and you made the piece that match the older years wow
But can you create a zippo-type lighter that doesn't evaporate fluid? One that will retain most of the fluid and not evaporate quickly like a zippo does.
Zippo style lighters won't retain fuel as good as lighter which has wick closed by threaded cap sealed with o-ring. I have one project in pipeline which is basically closed construction lighter insert which fits any zippo sleeve and it has its own threaded and sealed wick cap + some extra features. The only disadvantage is that when you open sleeve you have to unscrew cap to expose wick. It takes some extra time and removes an option of quick strike typical for zippo lighters. Will post video in the future All best
It is one of upcoming projects. Its still in progress. I'll keep you posted by adding video on channel. Will do small batch of those for sale as well. Just stay stick with channel All best
If you are looking for work they might find you handy for machinist work at Space X, or Tesla. I bet EM would hire you if you drafted a cover letter and included this video. Maybe I'm just a simpleton. But I think that your machinist skills and ability to make a better product shows a tremendous amount of creativity. Nice work on the lighter project, you might put some of these on ebay just for shits and giggles.
Hey mate, How did you know... I already made that. I used 1 oz stainless steel hip flask instead this shi**y casing. I am definitelly going to make serie of this lighter and will posted production video as well. Thank you for pleasured words! All best Jakub
Could I buy one of these off you please? I see the craftsmanship and concentration you put into making it so I will be willing to pay whatever you want for one. Please let me know.
Hey Ryan, I am so glad you like my work. I will definitelly make some serie of this as well as other lighters for people to buy in the future. I am planning to run small e-shop so just stay stick with me on the channel I will post all information here as soon as it becomes real. Thanks for your comment anyway and stay safe!
Thank you mate, but why to remove it ? It makes whole lighter perfectly sealed. This rubber gaskets don't suffer from heat produced by "wick part" and it´s not even visible when it´s closed
Hey mate, I thought same when I done this lighter. Surprisingly it lights up on one strike everytime. Striker is really powerful Thanks for your comment anyway 😉
I am glad you like my work mate. This one have shitty case from ordinary sheet metal. I am working on similiar lighter to this one with rust proof stainless steel case. I´ll post making video over next year as well. Feel free to follow my instagram instagram.com/elitman.official/ I will post all info about batch of lighters for sale there. All best
Note: be very careful using gloves near and around rotating power tools, once they grab on to the glove it sucks your whole hand in real quick. It makes for a real bad day!!
what else i could say?talented and gifted person at another level.what a masterpiece

Hey mate, I did it within one day in workshop. Cheers!
@@Elitman thanks for responding
Real good design
Wooow que trabajo tan hermoso, felicitaciones y muchas gracias por compartir.
It's beautiful ✊️⚡️
Awesome idea but use the whole can next time for table lighter. And add wide decorative base.
Properly works better then a zippo too, you actually get to keep your fuel
Beautiful

just wondering why it is that towards the final machining, ya were wearing gloves while using a lathe ? isn't that a tad risky ?
It slipped out my hands couple of times (off camera). So I had to use gloves for better grip :)
Really impressive work! Nicely done!
Oh hey make one out of booze flask!!! You are a highly intelligent person bye the way. Good work there mister ingineer.

Perfect 👌👌👌👌
Very good job, but I would remove the gasket near the wick
Thank you mate, but why to remove it ? It makes whole lighter perfectly sealed. This rubber gaskets don't suffer from heat produced by "wick part" and it´s not even visible when it´s closed
@@Elitman If you support that it don’t burns is ok, I thought it might burn
Insane
Very cool, but the sparks have a long way to travel before they hit the wick, don't you think?

“It makes for a real bad day” You wouldn’t say
Creator and versed
it's even a pity to use such expensive "accessories" in such a cheap case
I'll pay 200 dollars for that! Shut up and take my money!
I'd pay 1000, more if it was build with a higher grade metal than the tin can.
👍👍👍👍
