I didn't know they had spray primer, but I may try that some time. In the past, I've primered wood with a brush before assembling any pieces together or installing as trim. It's much easier to put on when all of the boards are laying flat and especially to sand once it dries when there are no edges butted up together.
The man cave looks really good so far. Can't wait for the reveal!

Hey. Thanks! The top is almost 2 inches thick and only floats about 30” so it won’t need support, plenty sturdy.

Question, from the 24:16 point on when you wrap up, the light level in the room is... surprising, for lack of better word.
On the left wall, this black paint reflect more than I expected. Those cubbies right behind you demonstrate a definitive contrast between lit and shadowed area
What was the lighting like for this shoot, something tell me it might have been extra bright for filming purposes (?)
Thanks. The black wasn't translating the best on camera so I had to turn the pendant light all the way up. I have it on a dimmer so I can control the amount of light but I keep it pretty dim most of the time and love it.

Great job. How do you like the cabinet height? Im think about doing the same but keeping the 34" cabinet height. But i lik e the option of trimming it down. Was 31" perfect for woulf it have been fine at standard or better lower at 30"?
Thank you. I measured my old desk and did some research to find that most store bought desks are actually 30" so that's was I was aiming for while adding an inch or so to fit my height (6'2") a little better. The other issue you might have to consider is your chair. Most chairs only adjust high enough for most desks (again with that 30" rule in mind) so if you can find a work chair that would be comfortable at a 34" counter for you, go for it 👍🏾 that's the best part about going custom.

Hey there! Genuinely asking. What is the height of your floor cabinets and would you possibly have a link to them? I am struggling because my counter tops plus my cabinets are making my workspace too high. My cabinets are 34 inches tall plus 2 inches of butcher block and the height (36") is almost within my chest. Im considering getting 30 in" cabinets but need to ensure the toe kick height doesn't effect the counter height. Sorry for the long post. Also do you all have 34" cabinets and are just learning to live with it? 😁
I feel your pain 😅 The choice was going with wall cabinets on like a 2x4 or 2x3 base or actual base cabinets which are super high for a desk. I ended up using base cabinets and cutting most of the toe kick off in the video which brought me down to about 31” including the counter. I went that route because I could just throw the cabinets in and secure them. Overall it ended up working pretty well for me. Good luck with the project 👍
