Watching umake a cookie sandwich with those train gears, I decided this isn't for me lol. But what a great Hobbie!
just subbed and liked. My Elgin was my Great, Great Grandfather's and is a G.M. Wheeler from 1873. I just disassembled it and have another parts movement on the way. I'm going to try to get it back together and running on my own so these videos are a big help.

Unfortunately I learned the hard way about assembling it upside down and popped the pinion off of the pallet fork. Test fitted upside down and it went together perfectly. Hindsight’s 20/20.

I have a 12 size elgin from about 1910 that won't wind or run
like the winder you have, someday want one. I see the made in china brass sets, reviews look cheapo build
Where " block letters" ELGIN used on 1896 watch dials?
I just picked up one of these for only $5 today and plan on cleaning it/getting it running. What was the cleaning solution you used in your ultrasonic cleaner? Can I just use normal dish soap or are there somethings that I should look out for?

The dial/movement combination was made for a hunting case Open face cases normally have the clutch located at 12:00. Hunters at 3:00
