Explain how to add bars on the channel rack. It was easier in FL 10.
a neat little shortcut for soloing any channel in the channel rack is ctrl/cmd clicking the green dot. Will save you just about a millisecond ;) Awesome FL video's btw, the best I've come across. Simple and straight forward stuff. Very much appreciated!
Also why the hell would they remove an undo option when deleting a channel? (I started using FL today and somehow managed to delete all my channels whilst I had a decent beat going)

Nice indeed. love that. Please help me solve this. I have a problem with my step sequencer. I made a mistake on the beat solfa progression. am supposed to start up my instrumentals on 'do' but I started with 'fa' and I have gone deep on the song. I want to move the step sequencer so that the fa may shift either left or right but it doesn't seem to be working. Each time I hold the shortcuts as u said it will be moving the pattern from 1 to 2,3 and so on. I need to move the first four bars backwards so how do I do that please?
at 0:48 how did you get it to show the receive notes menu? My midi seems set up right because it works and I can link stuff to it but I can't get it to cycle channels because I can't find this stupid option even when right clicking channels. Also, right clicking record has no quantize options even with snap on step. I'm on FL Studio 12.0.2
Hey, love the videos, I have a question tho. Say I want to change up my kick pattern half way through the song, do I have to clone the kick channel and make a whole different set or is there a way to change up playlist patterns for one channel? I don't know if I expressed myself correctly btw. Also, I haven't watched your fl studio basics video yet so I might've missed the answer to my question if it's in there. Keep up the good work. :D
Yep, so what you would do is hit the + sign at the top to create a new pattern and program in your new kick drum sequence. Then when you lay out all your patterns in the playlist (F5), you can choose which kick drum pattern to use where.
An alternate method (which I use more often) is to click in the top left corner of the pattern clip in the playlist and choose 'Make unique' - this will create a new pattern based on the pattern you have just selected, then you can change the new pattern to a different kick sequence.

Great vid, but i have one q. How can i replace some kick or whatever i have, in other channel rack folder ? For example, i have a "FX" folder in channel rack and when i dragging my sample on the tracklist, it automatically going into "audio" folder.

how do i add new patterns (channel racks) like i was doing on fl 11? I can't seem to find a way to create new patterns (except with the weird mouse wheel way) or renaming them.I could use a really basic explanation on that.

Just upgraded to fl12... Channel rack has some changes.. was looking for where to adjust the length of sequence and how to get the sequence to loop. Those are very helpful and would have been a great thing to add to this video. Thanks for the gradients though I guess :)
The sequence should loop automatically if you have repeat pattern (button next to the play button) on. As far as the length, if you resize the channel rack window and add more steps, the sequence will be as long as the shortest # of bars in the pattern.
hmmm... For some reason pattern 1 goes on forever. I've looked in the piano roll and couldn't find some accidental note making the pattern so long. All the other patterns let me change the size... That would explain why it wasn't looping! Kind of a weird hiccup, I must've done something, but this is how fl12 channel rack loaded up for me. It's all good though it's just for pattern 1 on this one project. thanks!
So now patter 4 is having the same issue. There's nothing after the 4th bar in the piano roll, yet the sequence goes on for like 64 bars and I can't resize the sequence in any way like the other patterns... Idk

How do you get the mixer channels on the channel rack?

What configuration do you use to display the mixer tracks in the channel rack? On the Left?

the channel rack is automatically set on 4 bars, how do you set it on 16/32/64 bars ?

Well on the newest version theres a small box where the swing adjust used to be. It sets the number of steps in the sequencer, 16 steps for 4 bars, 32 steps for 8 and so on..
Then just drag the window out to show the other bars in the sequence
Just drag it further into the left

Is it just me or... Is it not an option to add channels to the filter group? Like for instance I make a percussion group and want another percussion later on added to this group? I dont get it, I have to make a new group name and I dont find the way to just add the one perc to the already made percussion group.

First off, Great video! Do you have any idea why does FL create a new channel in the channel rack everytime I go to record audio? So if I have 10 takes for 1 verse I'm trying to record I have 10 new channel in the channel rack. It's kind of insane.
It's because each "take" is treated as it's own audio clip/.wav so it needs it's own channel. I'm not sure of how else it could do it. What you could do, perhaps, is record all your takes in one recording and then trim the best one.

But if for example I'm trying to record in on the intro but I'm recording the 2nd or 3rd take I'm no longer hearing the intro I'm hearing the verse. Does that make sense? I might not have explained it well enough. Most other softwares you can keep recording vocals on 1 track. I guess it's the channel rack that is a bit confusing. Maybe FL is more for beats and not recording vocals?
You'd be doing this in the playlist, not the channel rack. The channel rack is meant for sequencing patterns. So, in the playlist, you'd want to highlight the section to record on ([CTRL]+Click and drag on the bar at the top) and then I believe enable loop recording. It's one of the buttons near Play/Pause, etc. Does that help?
I understand what you mean. I can loop it, but if an artist wants to pause to gather himself then try again I have to stop recording then record when he is ready to go, thus creating another channel in the channel rack. So I guess I just have to delete the channel in the channel rack every time there is a bad take because I don't want there to be 50 channels in my channel racks because if it took the artists 50 takes to get it right.
Are there any other good DAWs that have channel racks similar to FL ?
