    Hi, Rachel!!
    I've been learning to play the electric bass and I'm falling in love with these little guys you've been showing!!!!!

      Ooooh, interesting question! For me, the Magic Fluke, it’s a fantastic instrument and just suits my playing / music but there is definitely a “need” for the Flight! 😉

    Great review again. I got mine from SUS a couple of weeks ago and as you said it's a bit different to play compared with the rubber strings but you soon get used to it. With the amazing sustain I now don't use open string but the fretted alternative as open strings seem to go on forever. thanks again for the review. Flight do a matching strap.

    This is such a cool instrument! Thanks for the thorough review! Do you know where Flight gets the strings for this? What strings do they recommend? I'm building a bass along these lines for myself, and I'm not sure where to get strings (or what gauges they used?) Thanks again!

    Really interesting, thank you. I’m looking for a small travel bass and have never played using the rubbery strings - fascinated to see you think the metal strings might be easier. I can imagine I might over pluck the rubbery ones, if you know what I mean. The magic fluke was on my radar already though I cannot justify the expense. I’m now off to see if you’ve done a video on that 😊

    Thanks for this review! It looks so awesome. Just a couple questions: How's the intonation? How much does it weigh? I'm really looking forward to your Magic Fluke Timber Bass review. I may have to get one or the other, and it will be your fault.lol
    Side note: Based on your review, I got the Behringer DI pedal, and it's *amazing* for the price! I love it.

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  Рік тому +1

      Technically 2 very different beasts Jules so really you will need both! LOL
      Intonation was good but need to be carefully with slapping as that can cause the tuning to be a bit off. Advantage though are the Flight basses intonation can be tweaked at the bridge / saddle. Timber bass review soon and fab to hear you are enjoying the Behringer!! Hope you are all fully recovered now.

    Rachel, thanks for another very helpful review. How does this bass compare sound-wise to an acoustic electric with flat wound strings?

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  Рік тому +1

      Thanks. TBH I don't think I've ever played a flat wound electro acoustic, I've played a round wound electro acoustic and this has a far more "solid" bass tone. Much more like a bass guitar and I go further to say the tone is more predictable if that makes sense.

    • @Rwjudy48
      @Rwjudy48 Рік тому

      I first had round wound strings on my Kala. Now have the flat wound, which I prefer. Just wondering how much harder - if at all - the Flight steel strings will be on my fingers to vs the round wound nylon core strings.

    • @UkuleleWales
      @UkuleleWales  Рік тому

      @@Rwjudy48 Great to hear you prefer the flat wounds. Did you find the round wounds on the Kala were harder to play - the core shouldn't make much difference but you could always swap to flat wounds if you get a Flight and are finding it harder to get on with.

    • @Rwjudy48
      @Rwjudy48 Рік тому

      The round wounds were harder to slide on and to get a smooth sound when sliding. Also, harder on the fingers when sliding. They also had a slight bit of occasional string noise as your fingers moved from note to note, characteristic of what occurs at times on electric guitars. Sound-wise, they were more like an electric bass guitar. Still, I prefer them to the polyurethane strings; just my personal preference. Sound-wise, the flat wounds fall somewhere between an upright bass and electric bass guitar sound. I plan on buying the Flight. My local dealer still hasn’t received U.S. pricing, but is scheduled to get that around the first part of December. Then he’ll be able to place orders. Thought about buying a Pinky bass in blue, but probably wouldn’t care for the poly strings.

      I would say it is more likely the pickup underneath the saddle isn't working quite right. Sometimes a firm press down on the saddle will fix it, sometimes taking the pick out works. There is a fix if the pickup is seriously uneven, check out Steohen Cox's vid here: ua-cam.com/video/71D1rqL16Ms/v-deo.html
