    Don’t worry, people know who built these new wave hip - production run beemers. Especially with that radical rear subframe to add more “stance” but rideability is no Diamond for sure ;)

    That busted BMW is insane, I can't believe a shop would send that out. Do some research on a shop before going to see how reputable they are. Another excellent episode!

      I concur with Mr. Thunder, it is absolutely insane a bike shop would ship a BMW that 'busted' to a client! Downright dangerous. It serves as a valuable lesson though, I say the poor bastard who bought it kind of had it coming! He should've done some research to make sure it was a reputable shop before dumping all that cash. I mean just because a bike shop is given multiple accolades from sources such as Bike EXIF, Pipeburn, Highsnobiety, Bless This Stuff, Maxim, Designboom, HiCumption, The Bike Shed, BikeBrewers, and even BMW Motorrad, just to name a few; and just because they've built custom bikes for TW STEEL, Bridgestone tires, and others, DOES NOT necessarily mean they're reputable! What can you say? A fool and his money are soon parted.

      Gonna go out on a limb here, was this your bike? Can't believe they shipped it to you, and they completely look reputable from everything I've seen. There has to be some sort of financial recourse for this type of shoddy work.

    Honestly, I wouldn't see problem with you guys calling out that builder by name, because they shouldn't be building bikes that are going to kill people.

    • @brapablo745
      @brapablo745 6 років тому

      Maybe the builder just assumed, as most people would, that the customer was skilled at riding motorized unicycles. No biggie.

    Aren't fork spacers like these basically suicide? They were sold for a while in the 80s and aren't anymore because the bending force on the forks (particularly off-road) gets put on the thread of the fork extender which inevitably breaks. Wilbers makes a longer fork for the R Nine Turban and Scrambler which is a much better idea than this, which could be a disaster waiting to happen. beautiful ride though.

    • @RevivalCycles
      @RevivalCycles  5 років тому

      Fundamentally you're not wrong. This Urban GS will not be put through the rigors of off-road riding. In this instance we were working around pre-existing Öhlins internals and the components we manufactured are engineered to withstand the forces this particular bike and it's owner will encounter. Worst case scenario being a curb strike or launch.

    That Urban GS looks amazing...especially the increase in ride height. Is it difficult to fabricate the spacers you mentioned...? I'm coming to the GS from a tall adventure bike so want to replicate the height as much as possible. Cheers, Steve

    • @RevivalCycles
      @RevivalCycles  5 років тому

      Making the spacers is not terribly difficult, but there are a total of three spacers that are needed. It is not something that we have setup for production so we would need to quote it as a custom job.

    • @caliform
      @caliform 5 років тому

      I recommend you get the Wilbers 70mm kit, as the spacers aren't a very reliable way to go nor will they add actual suspension travel.

    • @RevivalCycles
      @RevivalCycles  5 років тому

      It's been said, spacers are not the ideal solution but the best option considering other factors that were at play on tis bike. If you intend to take you bike off road Wilburs makes a +70mm set of forks for the urban GS.

    Couldn't the vibrations of the transportation of shipping be the reason for the unscrewing? Since shipping is such a long journey, it's like 2weeks of non stop vibration...
    Just asking

    • @RevivalCycles
      @RevivalCycles  6 років тому +2

      That is an interesting hypothesis, but that is not something we have ever seen when shipping bikes we've built. Also, if the fasteners are properly torqued there is no way external vibrations could transmit through the rubber wheels, suspension, etc, to get them to loosen more than the internal vibrations of the running engine / road input from riding. Either way, a bike should never be delivered to a client in that condition.

    Hi ,well another great episode , the dogs dinner BMW , this is the problem now any man & his dog can bang out a piece of shit like that and call it custom , the line's are wrong the wiring looks like a birds nest bolts loose obviously never heard of loctite or lock washers . Does it even run , I'll bet the workshop it came from has just a selection of hammer's angle grinders & crescent wrenches , I'd be embarrassed to build something like that let alone sell it to somebody , anyways it's in the right place now 😉
