One of the most difficult pieces for orchestra out there, yet absolutely one of the best compositions in the history of music. Each part for every instrument is devilishly difficult yet they all come together to take us on a journey up and down a mighty Alpine mountain.
Fruhbeck a very underrated conductor!
Its simply amazing how DR/Burgos produced such absolutely standard sounds. Most of their music productions were world top class sounds in clarity, articulation, harmony, and perfect phrasing.
One lof the best maestros of the last decades. Favourite of many major orchestras in USA and Europe.

WOW! So beautifully sculptured by a brilliant conductor, Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos, and performed to perfection by EVERY member of this wonderful orchestra, as they gave to de Burgos, his Masterpiece. De Burgos embodied Richard Strauss himself and gave us this sublime experience of Eine Alpensinfonie!
The approach to the summit, simply breathtaking. The slowest tempo I've ever heard for that section, but wow does it work here!
You need a conductor with guts to do it like this. Bravo!
This opus is very complicated to obtain a good sonority because it's dense and sometimes explosive. I consider this register the best in clarity e balanced sound. Great.

Am I seeing things or does the conductor NOT have a score in front of him? Amazing!!!!!!😲
Often the way these days. In the past no-one would chance this massive work without a score. More recently, at last, the score is being left in the dressing-room. "There are two sorts of conductor-the ones with the score in their head, and those who have their head in the score". As one of my better teachers told me.
Bravo trombone section!
I have played this tone poem many times (including in this video. Third basaoon) and what continues to amaze me is the trumpet and horn playing.
Jeez, what a prick. He seems like one of those people that dislikes the sermon on the mount not only because it warns against false prophets like himself.
