It was long thought that Michael spared the baby because the baby posed no challenge to him. His victims usually can try to run away or fight back. The baby can’t.
Then the baby grow up as he comes back and Michael was like I can kill you now

Or because the baby represents innocence... The common theme in horror movies from the late 70s through to the early 90s was "Be good kids!" So, if you didn't have seggs, if you didn't use illicit substances, if you didn't get nude, if you didn't drink, you'd live. Those horror films weren't just hack, slash, gore, they held a deeper meaning, that none of us watching back then even got... We just knew not to go anywhere alone...lol! But, you get older and it all makes sense.

Believe it or not, babies represented 'innocence' to Mikey. They actually made a point of this in Rob Zombie's first Halloween.
@@Shaz-Daz That's what I figured, as it makes sense to the original formula of horror films from the late 70s through the early 90s. Babies are "free of sin" and thus spared, unless you believe in "original sin".

To be honest I can't believe Jason stopping the attempted sexual assault in Jason Takes Manhattan wasn't mentioned. I mean yeah he still went after Rennie and Sean, but he killed the two druggies that were trying to assault her and as she ran away you can see him noticeably give a little nod.
What I don't understand is, Jason kills for revenge for those who stepped on to Crystal lake. Jason killed both druggies, a diner cook, and a sewer maintenance worker knowing they never stepped onto Crystal lake. Therefore Jason should have knock them out in the most unconscious and bloody way instead of killing them.

Michael Myers also spared a woman and her daughter. I'll always remember this because he was in the perfect position to kill both of them. Instead he just stole the keys to her car and left.
He was on a mission. It just would have slowed him down.
He also didn’t kill the old couple in H2 (1981), that this scene directly copied.

eric Draven from the Crow scaring the mother into not doing drugs and being a good mother to her daughter is unforgettable.
That is because he was friends with the little girl and always wanted the best for her
I feel like the only reason this isn’t on here is because it’s not seen as “wholesome” in the moment because Eric had just terrorized and killed funboy right infront of her and then he forced drugs out of her body. It’s extremely powerful and is another reason why I love the crow. I love that they didn’t drop off the story line of it and showed the mom making breakfast and getting frustrated because she realizes she hasn’t been a mother at all yet the little girl still shows that she just loves her mom despite the past and is happy she is home. It’s an amazing story and it’s a side plot.

Also, in the reboot of Halloween (2018), Michael killed a little boy in the truck, during the scene where Michael escaped. Just say basically, he will kill anyone who gets in his way.
What about in Friday the 13th part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan? Remember how he actually saved the final girl Rennie from those two druggies in the alley towards the end of the movie? That was him doing something nice for a change. And I think I can speak for everyone when I say that he also did Rennie a favor by drowning her terrible uncle in that barrel of sewage.
What about in Friday the 13th part VI: Jason Lives? He also spared a little girl that was in her bed

I still remember the time chucky killed the therapist that was using hypnosis to assault the female lead. Along with the line "Holy 🤬 and here I thought I was evil. Not sure if I should kill him or take notes" While dark it was hilarious that even the killer doll thought that crossed a line.

Yeah that doesn't apply to Michael Myers anymore. Michael Myers killed a child in the 2018 movie, and he killed another child in Halloween Kills.

Jason Voorhees spared all the kids in any movie that had them in perceived harm
A little girl closes her eyes when she sees Jason looming over her and starts praying in anticipation of her imminent demise only to open her eyes a moment later and Jason is gone…
I believe it was the same movie where 2 boys have the greatest exchange of all time while hiding under a bed and waiting patiently for the inevitable; calmly posing the question “so… what were you going to be when you grew up”
Jason in Part 8 sees that his “Final Girl” target has crossed paths with some unsavory hooligans that have drugged her and intend to have their way with her; Jason sees a spent syringe on the ground (putting 2 & 2 together) picks it up and drives it along with his whole arm through one the guys’ torso and then kills the other, giving a subtle “good, she’s safe” nod as the final girl scrambles out of the alley and to (temporary) safety… yeah he’s still pursuing her to kill her himself, but he’s got standards. It’s poor taste to chase someone who was drugged against her will, as opposed to someone who used willingly by their own hand
He also kicked a radio that some street kids were listing to and even though one of them pulled a butterfly knife (maybe it was a switchblade; it’s been a while) Jason realizes that he was the one in the wrong and instead of disposing of the youth, simply raises his mask to show them what they *~ DON’T ~* want to meddle with and they wisely disperse… then he lowered his mask back down and went back about his way
Jason is a lot of things, and one of them is selectively considerate

What about Thanksgiving 2023 when the killer spared the cat and fed it after killing its owner.
That cat did nothing to him so I wouldn’t call that sparing.

I’d say Jason Voorhees is one of the nicest horror villains I know because he has done a lot of good deeds despite being a zombie serial killer. He refuses to kill innocent little kids and babies like that little girl who prayed to god to save her and he took a bullied kid under his wing. He showed sympathy to leather face after finding out he was bullied by his family. He killed a rapist and a guy who abused a kid. He won’t kill animals that don’t attack him and won’t eat animals for sustenance when he was human, he instead goes to a covenant store and steals food. And he won’t kill random people like how he reveals his face to scare away those gang members who got mad at Jason for kicking and breaking their boombox because Jason hates rap music.

Thanksgiving- After John Carver garrote wires a guy and puts his head in a bag, as he is leaving the victim's cat meows and instead of leaving or killing it, he just feeds it and gives it a pet and leaves. Who says all serial killers are heartless?

Honorable Mention: Jason moving the boiling kettle off the burner after killing Alice at the start of “Friday the 13th Part 2.”
I still in my head cannon attribute that to Jason's father after hearing his ex-wife was killed rather than Jason. I'd find it hard to believe that a kid in the woods, pre-internet, could track down 1 woman that easily.

@@IdgaradLyracantwell to survive that long alone Jason would have to be a good tracker right? The woods wasn’t far from Alice and he did SEE her kill his mother. The likely scenario is that he kept tabs on her until he wanted to strike. He probably knew when she got home, tried to figure out her routine and was definitely watching her (otherwise he would never have been able to get the head in the fridge) which is even more terrifying than him just turning up one day.

John Kramer became my solid favorite horror movie villain even more when he helped Gordon after all that has happened to him
Jaws: the shark spares Brody's son, Michael by swimming right past him.
He already had the guy in his mouth. He’s not going to give up a meal for a smaller one that can potentially get away. This is not kindness, it’s natures version of common sense.

I would have loved to see Jason takes Manhattan when he took off his hockey mask instead of killing them I figured that was extremely nice coming from him
-Pet Semetary, when the evil stepdad intervened and killed the kid’s bully with the motorcycle.
-Hellraiser II(?), when Pinhead and the cenobites protect Kristy from The Doctor cenobite.
-Silent Night (2012), the killer gives money to the old lady after killing the reverend at the church.
John Kramer is more sympathetic than Mark Hoffman
Yes in John kramer’s twisted sense. He repaired a kid’s bike in saw x and protected that kid from one of his own traps when Cecelia used that trap against him
I honestly have always seen John Kramer as a good man (NO i don't condone his brand of treatment) but it is clear that his heart is in the right place, as seen by taking in Amanda after she turned it around after escaping the reverse bear trap, and was comforted her in Saw X after learning he was going to die, cause she had come to see him as a father figure, (More or less not in a twisted sense either), or giving the money to Carlos even though he could have used it to try and give himself a chance to find another treatment option for his cancer
They're both monsters, but Hoffman is obviously worse as he rigged the traps frequently.

In the movie The Jackal, Bruce Willis plays a totally remorseless killer/assassin. But at one point in the movie, he was collecting equipment that he needed for a special gun with a remote firing system, and one of the people he gets a component from is a pregnant woman. He pays her a little something extra for the baby and is just generally really kind with her.
In Terrifier 2 during the Halloween shop scene Sienna forgets her bag and Art selflessly brings it over to her, also during one of the Friday the 13th movies (I think Jason takes Manhattan but I'm not sure) there's a scene where a woman is being SAed and Jason protects the woman and gives her a nod of approval while she runs away
The nicest thing I can think of that a horror movie villain did was Jason taking out freddy in freddy vs Jason
Especially since he stopped him right before he attemp to kill the last two survivors with his machete.

Probably not much, but what about:
Predator 2 - the City Hunter spared a child offering him candy, and spared the life of a pregnant female detective.
Thanksgiving (2023) - the killer fed the house cat belonged to the owner he just killed.
The Joker (2019) - the Joker spared the only man who was kind to him from his mad-induced killing spree.
In Jason part 6, he didn't kill that cabin full of kids. That was nice of him.

I have a few honorable mentions:
1. The killer Santa Claus in Silent Night (2012), He kills the priest then gives the old lady some money.
2. Also The Creeper in Jeepers Creeper spares the elderly woman and the Teenage girl at the end of the movie.
I don't know if this is considered something kind.
Jason Voorhees killing rapists has happened twice. In Jason takes Manhattan and in Freddy vs Jason.
In Jason lives, Jason stares at a little girl menacingly but decides to leave her alone.
In Jason takes Manhattan, Jason could've killed the thugs who pulled a knife on him, but decided to scare them off instead.
I've always seen leatherface as an incredibly tragic figure. He's a mentally damaged man who was raised by a family of monsters to be their instrument of torture and their servant. He actually kind of reminds me of a much darker version of chunk from goonies, but whereas chunk was mainly ignored bubba was molded into a violent killer.
4:00 - Michael enjoys invoking fear before killing people. He gets off of the terror he causes his victims just as he's about to kill them just as much as he enjoys stalking them without them knowing. A baby that young wouldn't know what was going on or have any fear if he were to kill it. He didn't spare the baby. Michael ignored it because he knew he wouldn't get the same rush he'd get from killing someone who knew they were about to die.
F13 remake - Jason doesn’t kill Whitney, F13-pt 8 - doesn’t kill the waitress, Chucky doesn’t kill the elderly couple in the elevator in the first movie, Angela in Sleep Away Camp spares everyone that was nice to her.

I personally think the driver in "Duel" was just trying to make sure nothing came between him and his victim.

Honestly, the seemingly random acts of kindness from these killers not only makes them more terrifying but also more believable.
I honestly thought that Jason Voorhees would make a spot on the list. In Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan Jason saved another woman's life when he killed the rapist who attempted to attack the woman.
I don't remember which movie but in one, Jason spares a little girl.
He also scares away a bunch of punks instead of killing them and killed a rapist in Jasson in Manhattan
Good deeds from a horror movie villain may seem oxymoronic, but I’m surprised such tropes exist and work.
I think for Michael, it was a reference to when he spared Lori as a kid(in the version where they’re siblings). Pure and of innocent heart, too young to be a threat or fight back in any way.

friday the 13th part 6. Jason doesnt kill the kids
I feel like he would kill kids, but the reason why he didn't kill the little girl was because he was drawn out by the flashing light outside to unintentionally lure him outside, so he chose to investigate what was going on.
@@robertdelrosario8080, when asked about that scene, the actor playing Jason in that movie said "never, ever would Jason harm a child..." He also added, "It is all about the Camp Counselors and anyone else of age that wants to step in his way."
And Kane Hodder, the most famous person to play Jason, said, "Jason identifies with animals and kids. It's the adults that are assholes."
Of course, other writers might decide it makes Jason more "bad ass" to just kill anyone or anything, with no exceptions...totally missing that having exceptions give Jason a little bit of depth. But in this particular case, he wasn't going to hurt the little girl.

In saw x jigsaw also wanted to help gabriela after she passed the test..he also wanted to sacrifice himself to save the kid..these were as kind as saving dr. Gordon

Jason killing two would-be r*pists in part 8. Chucky stops a psychiatrist from doing the same thing in Cult of Chucky. They will kill people, brutally at times but they wouldn't stoop that low.
Meaning they have a certain degree of morals
considering that he has exhibited signs of being a sexual predator and tried to grope Jennifer Tilly in Seed of Chucky.
Michael isn’t unknown for killing children…That’s what the entire storyline was for H4 and H5, he was trying to kill his 10 year old niece…In Halloween 2018 he snaps a kids neck, in Halloween Kills he cuts off a 14 year olds head…On the other hand, Jason hasn’t done anything of the such, Which means even he has something of a soul, Michael doesn’t.

Jigsaw make be a serial killer but he's a decent human being
I don't know how anyone considers Chucky a Horror movie. I've always seen it as a comedy.

Michael goes after anyone, but the only exception is a complete innocent or someone who cant fight for themselves. A sexually active athletic teenager is much more of a target for him than a disabled person or baby and thats why he showed mercy. Hes a monster not a MONSTER

I don’t think Myers’s is truly evil. I think he has a demon inside him. But he still has a line. And that line is clearly we won’t kill something as defenceless as a baby

You failed to mention when Pinhead spared Tiffany when she opened the box. The Hell Priest knew it was not hands that summoned them, but will, so he spared the innocent girl.
In JAWS 3, the Shark's baby passes away due to high stress pressure. The baby was the reason the mother shark was even there and after losing him, she sought out to finish off the rest of the characters in vengeance (so in this case. a better "Jaws: The *Revenge"* in a way). It's not necessarily something nice done to the protagonists but it does bring out some of the horror movie villains with more sensitive motives. Also, if it counts, the Shark also did something nice in the very original JAWS when he could have eaten Brody's son but decided not to get greedy. I guess naturally this should count as the intro says they include villains simply deciding not to kill someone
Edit: I am aware here of the depressing case of a guy in this reply section who thinks testing the hell out of some teenager in a pointless online 'argument' (which btw all happened because he wasn't willing to understand what I meant in the first place) is the most satisfying thing in the world so I want to disclose this. I already specifically know that the shark is not meant to have any strong emotions and therefore wasn't being nice but his inclusion here is because it is specifically stated in the video that a villain not killing someone counted. IT WAS SPECIFIC TO THE VIDEO rather than a general statement of whether the shark actually did something nice. It is actually infuriating that people will straight up mentally abuse a guy online instead of being fair to understanding their point, especially when it's an 'adult' constantly on a teen's meat because that is apparently so satisfying to them? How can someone so delusionally believe they're still the mature one after this

When he went past Brodys son he already had the guys body in his mouth. Why would a shark drop an already secured meal for a smaller potentially hard to catch one? 😂

@@Joey7Z7Horrorno, he opted for the easier option which, if you know even rudimentary information about sharks, lines up with what a real one would do. If Bruce (being a movie shark and therefore having a never ending stomach) had already finished eating the guy from the boat he would have snatched up Brodys kid. If the guy managed to get away Bruce would have snatched up Brodys kid.
This is literal common sense that he just didn’t eat him because he had a meal he needed to finish and I’m not sure what is so hard to understand.
Bruce never attacked twice in the movie except for the final act. Why do you think that is???? Maaaaybe because there were no humans in the water except for the final act. Jaws goes, Bruce eats, the food source disappears. By the time he had finished his meal all the other people, including Brodys kid were out of the water. It’s not rocket science.
Lastly, not being greedy isn’t the same as being nice so your entire argument makes no sense.
Hannibal Lecter was not the villain in The Silence of the Lambs (at least the movie).
