With those other dogs, I was wondering if MPH was forming his own social network. Wishing you well from Vancouver Island.
Dwayne Harris hi there! It makes us happy to hear you are enjoying our videos. We are adapting finally now. It feels good. MPH has definitely helped us not feel as alone and feel more apart of Cusco. All the dogs love MPH so much. I hope you are doing well in Canada! ❤️🙏
just don't chew at night time or you wont be able to sleep, do guys try real coca leaves tea? if not , boil a cup of water and insert 3 or 4 coca leaves, set for about 3 min and try it, it taste much better
Coca leaves are rich in calcium too, incas used them in different ways, the most important is the religious thing, the leaves are inmaterial cultural patrimony declared in 2014 by the Parlamento Andino, is part of our cultural heritage, other countries don't know that.
Next time increase triple or more the amount of the coca leafs and yes i did many times and i was really generous with the amount hahahahahah take care guys
Alex taking coffee in the mornings, preparing a romantic dinner with flowers, candles and violinist (Mr. Potato Head).....THAT'S OUR MAN ! Beautiful touch, don't lose it
Hi guys, coca is a medicinal leaf from our ancestors, I have also chewed coca on several occasions, if you do it only once you will notice the difference, only once it goes unnoticed. greetings my friends.
To produce cocaine you need a very complicated chemical process, involving all kinds of acids and stuff like that, it takes more than 1 day too. Coca leaves are harmless by themselves.
I tried it when I went to Cusco, I am Peruvian. But I didn’t feel nothing, it felt a little bitter so I didn’t bother waiting or chewing it for long time.. I would try again though. I did like the cocoa tea. Definitely a favorite. The view is Awesome! The girlfriend is a good woman, That’s a keeper forsure! One last thing , I love the Dog, he is a little angel!!
love your videos!! Was in Cusco 2 years ago and have two things to suggest; while in lockdown try to find the 12 sided stone that is in the san blas area when you are on your shopping trips; second after lockdown ends go to Saqsaywaman which is walkable from where you currently are
@@lindseyfw2903 it is part of an old inca palace that can be found between the church of san blas and cusco cathederal... if you have trouble google maps would show exact location
1. Add some corn starch(maicena) or potato starch(chuño ingles o harina de chuño) to chicha morada, some raisins and dried peaches, cook the mixture for a few minutes and you'll get mazamorra morada, a very traditional dessert 2. Coca and cocaine are VERY different...did you know drug makers use clorhidric acid to make cocaine? ....3. Farmers from the andes chew coca leaves because it is an anesthesic, they chew it to avoid hunger while they are working in their fields, so they can work all day long without taking breaks 4. The ashes are not the activator, gosh, people from cusco love to say that but it is not true, those ashes are made from quinoa and potato plants with some powdered sugar or stevia powder, they are used to give some sweetness to coca flavor, if you want to activate the coca leaves you need to chew them for at least 15 minutes 5. Coca leaves will stain your teeth forever if you chew them for too long, so be careful 6. My grandnparens used to chew coca leaves while working in their fields when i was a child, they used to smoke cigarettes without filter to show some respect to nature as well (inca brand) 7. I remember even i have to chew coca and smoke cigarettes if i wanted to go to my grandparents fields(of course i only did it once and i didnt like it at all XD) 8. You can use the remaining coca leaves to make some candy ....
That view you open your episodes with rings my bell every time. Of all the joints in all the world to get locked up in boy you two sure landed on a terrific looker... and one possessing such historically dynamic layers. A truly grand dame of dynamic proportions. Love life and all it's weird curveballs guys! Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you or potato head in the near future. Stay strong and keep sharing your art with the world ❤✌🇺🇸 P.S. Lindsey you are a certified badass! Glad to see(still have) you on the channel :) Oh and congrats on not getting sucked into that sweet Peruvian yayo 😂😂😂 Jk
Nice video. I tried chewing leaves with the catalyst while in Peru and Bolivia. Hiked for 10 hours on a Snickers bar and forget to eat. Great energy, no appetite, slightly numb cheek
My family is from Puno and I did chew coca leaves..you have to chew more to see the real effects like around 250 grams per day. My grand parents used to chew coca leaves morning and afternoon to be able to work in the field. I used to see them with a high level of energy working in the fields after chewing coca leaves and also it help you to deal with cold weather.
Hello guys, your videos always make me feel good, right now we are having a bad moment in England, there still aren't restrictions, most people don't wear a mask. I think next week we are going to be worse than Italy , we are 161,445 infected now and deaths 21,678, I love Mr. Potato head 🐕🐕🐕🐕🤗
You can get everything you want at Alexander's Restaurant (coca, flowers, candles, delicious looking food and that view 👀 ). What a great bonding experience. No matters how it turns out for you both something that can never be taken away. I have friends on the Big Island that farm mango and dragon fruit. Have you seen any dragon fruit (a.k.a. petaya in the markets)?
Haha Alices Restaurant reference, love it. Actually we love Pitaya, but it’s been absent from the markets since the second week of lockdown. We’ve been looking for it, its one of my favorites now
My experience about the coca tea is excellent,my health was not very good in 2016 so we went to Peru for a vacation to see Machu Picchu for month I started drinking coca tea in Lima and I stop taking my medications 2 “because the properties of the coca was doing my health improve a lot over there and We were eating all that good fruit, and the food and the sea😍,I miss a lot the coca tea , some are more strong than others, the vlog was excellent and the dinner awesome 👏 and Mr ph 😍😘
What took you so long??? I would chew it and hold it under my tongue while sleeping (HUGE headache) in Puno. Wake up three hours later, spit and chew new leaves. That helped somehow... Never had the other thing you added... But of course, you should be acclimatize already after so many days.
I used to be able to order Delisse-brand "harina, micropulverizado" and teabags of the same brand, from a company in Peru, shipped to California. But customs started to catch all of those shipments, especially when c-rona began. Coca is a blessing on this planet and a serious superfood and medicine, that should be made available to all people. Peru and Bolivia are the keepers of some very special plants and heritage for the world. Coca induces smooth, deep breathing, while re-mineralizing your body, and offering more calcium than we need. Supports physical labor and activity FOR SURE, but can also support healthy sleep, strangely enough. Also can be very "heart-opening", if that makes sense to anyone 💗💚
@@lindseyfw2903 I love watching all of your videos while you and Alex are stranded in Peru. Your videos have been something I am waiting for watching all the time.
I landed in Cusco after 36 hours or traveling, first thing I did at my hostel was make coca tea lol, didn’t really feel any effects it got altitude sickness immediately unfortunately. Peru, though, love this country. There’s a great bar downtown Cusco called Museo Del Cusco that has live music on the weekends, definitely recommend ( if it lasted through covid)
Well, I love spicy food, I love cheese, I like potatoes (and I love avocados - i feel you there, Lindsey), so this 2nd time seeing this dish... it make me ordering during the video (ok, ok, i hit pause) a pack of 1 kg aji amarillo chilli paste so I can make the sauce myself (quarantine, so even being in London wont be easy to find an ethnic Peruvian store). As coca is illegal here, never tried :) As always, enjoyed the video a lot! Stay safe guys! Hugs from London! PS: that view... that huge window... ohhh my God... gets better video by video ;)
Simona Ciorei thank you Simona. Let us know how it goes making it with the paste. I’m glad we have inspired you to try some Peruvian food. Hope you love it. The sauce is very good. Curious how much do they charge in London for avocados?
@@lindseyfw2903 I will definitely let you know how the souce will turn up using paste. I always think and compare prices when I hear you guys mentioning how cheap avocado is there. Here, one avocado the size of the ones you get from the market is on average £1.5, especially if its origin is South America. But you can get the much smaller ones, a pack of 4 for a bit over £2, but they are not as nice and smooth as the other ones. Wish I can get some of Peruvian avocados delivered here! :)
@@gotalifeanditsmine I will definitely try that store once lockdown and travel restrictions are lifted, because its almost an hour away from me by bus. Thank you for the tip!
When your lockdown finally ends, please don't rush to leave the Cusco area. You went there to see the local attractions and they are well worth the time. You'll have a unique opportunity to visit some usually crowded sites, without any crowds, like Machu Picchu. One of my favorite activities when I was there between mountain climbs, was white water rafting down the Urubamba River. There is also a half day horseback ride to visit the temple of the moon and devils balcony.
Hi there, the taste /scent of vinegar coming from your chopped veggies, its because vinegar is use to desinfect food and probably they want to sell it on the safest possible way , since we are under C19 menace, ; Wish Lima was as ordered as Cuzco! Karmela Ponce oh yeah that could be a possibility, hopefully it was just extra clean. We gave him a hug for you 🤗 stay safe in Lima and glad you love the channel. Thank you very much!

Hi! I am Peruvian! I have been living in The USA for about 7 years now. I am from Lima I will say that if there is one place I would like to be in quarantine is in Cuzco. great job with the Peruvian romantic dinner. Take care of yourself. I am glad you are in company.
Hello guys, great video again, nice romantic dinner , it looked very special. A couple tips if you allow me, when you make the coca tea, you can use the regular leaves in hot water instead of the tea bags, it works well too. When you boil potatoes, wash them well first , then they boil them in water whole. After they’re cooked ( pinch them with a fork) let them cool down then you peel them and slice them. Be well.
That is so thoughtful of you Alex. So sweet! Lindsey, you are a lucky girl. Keep him forever. Alex, keep dear Lindsey happy. I am so happy to see you guys together. ❤️🤗
Hi guys! I feel honored being mentioned in your Q&As ☺️. Love the romantic dinner, that was very sweet. I would recommend trying ‘maza morra’. It’s made with chicha mirada. Very yummy! Best eaten warm. Should be able to find packages to quickly make it, like the huancaina sauce. Stay safe guys!
Lindsey Fw Definitely try it out. You can the locals also. I believe you can ask for MAZAMORRA INSTANTÁNEA. You can add pieces of pineapple and apple in there too. It’s usually served with Arroz con leche sprinkled with cinnamon powder.

Wilfredo Iparraguirre we are going to try the tea with the leaves now 👍🏻
Loved it .what a sweet video 💐☕️
Thank you 🙏🏻 I
Alex, you cook with love that’s only matter, l love how u pronounced papa a la huancaina 😋😅
Rita Reichlein we can’t seem to pronounce it right 😆😆
Coca leaves are rich in calcium too, incas used them in different ways, the most important is the religious thing, the leaves are inmaterial cultural patrimony declared in 2014 by the Parlamento Andino, is part of our cultural heritage, other countries don't know that.
CarlocoxLV very good to know. We didn’t realize it was rich in calcium and that it was such an important religious thing.
Next time increase triple or more the amount of the coca leafs and yes i did many times and i was really generous with the amount hahahahahah take care guys
Haha we didn’t know how much to chew. We’ll try more next time
what a fantastic experience. thanks for letting us know
Thanks for watching ✊🏻
Jorge C. ThAnk you❤️❤️
Alex taking coffee in the mornings, preparing a romantic dinner with flowers, candles and violinist (Mr. Potato Head).....THAT'S OUR MAN !
Beautiful touch, don't lose it
Amaro Pargo ❤️❤️❤️ i definitely appreciate it
Hi guys, coca is a medicinal leaf from our ancestors, I have also chewed coca on several occasions, if you do it only once you will notice the difference, only once it goes unnoticed. greetings my friends.
You can get coca tea powder in United States and Australia, already imported from cocateaexpress.com
It doesn't go through customs so no worries.
Not sure if you read this today, but Argentina has cancelled all flights in and out until September. Hopefully Peru will not do the same.
M Swede wow that’s such a long time! I hope that doesn’t happen here.
Those lines are to get money from government . They are giving 100 and 200 dollars [equivalent] to those that can't afford basic necessities
mmgoicochea that’s nice hopefully that’s enough for people.
To produce cocaine you need a very complicated chemical process, involving all kinds of acids and stuff like that, it takes more than 1 day too. Coca leaves are harmless by themselves.
Pablo exactly!
But is ilegal to have cocaine in Peru , and if you produce it in your garden for your personal use is ilegal too. You go to jail .
Candlelght dinner with Mr Potato😁👍😎It cannot get more romantic than this. Sweet!!!!!!😜😁😁😁😁😁
Anoop Singh Gill it was pretty special 🕯 🌹 ❤️🐶
love your videos!! Was in Cusco 2 years ago and have two things to suggest; while in lockdown try to find the 12 sided stone that is in the san blas area when you are on your shopping trips; second after lockdown ends go to Saqsaywaman which is walkable from where you currently are
Jeff butter we plan to go there as soon as this lifts. How do we find the 12 sided stone?
Glad you love the videos ❤️🙏
@@lindseyfw2903 it is part of an old inca palace that can be found between the church of san blas and cusco cathederal... if you have trouble google maps would show exact location
p.s. really love the attitude and vibes that you and alex both give off!! Also future travel suggestions, south africa, botswana and namibia
Jeff butter thank you for the suggestions! Also thank you, we are glad we give off good vibes 😊
The Amazon start in Peru I think. A ride on it for a few days might be something to do, eventually....And, yes, That's out of the beaten track !
Mathieu Tallard great!
@@lindseyfw2903 There's Iquitos also off the beaten tracks. Gabriel traveler hasn't done those !!
FYI ..people in Peru chew it to be able to survive high altitudes while working their crops on top of the mountains.
That view you open your episodes with rings my bell every time. Of all the joints in all the world to get locked up in boy you two sure landed on a terrific looker... and one possessing such historically dynamic layers. A truly grand dame of dynamic proportions. You walk literally in the footsteps of a mighty race made up now of some of nicest folk you'd ever wanna meet. Adelante...
russ bentley we are soooo fortunate to have landed in Cusco right as the lockdown hit. Super thankful for the timing of it all.
Hi I am from Peru 🇵🇪 you guys make smile everyday I love you guys video you are the best couple and I am so happy that you guys Tried peru food and I miss peru ☺️stay safe
Kasey Lozano ❤️❤️❤️
Have you guys ever been mugged in any of your travels and what do you do to stay safe?
Love life and all it's weird curveballs guys! Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you or potato head in the near future. Stay strong and keep sharing your art with the world ❤✌🇺🇸
P.S. Lindsey you are a certified badass! Glad to see(still have) you on the channel :)
Oh and congrats on not getting sucked into that sweet Peruvian yayo 😂😂😂 Jk
Lucas Robertson thank you 😊
Also we appreciate you offering help and support.
We plan to keep sharing these videos as long as we are able to.
Viviana M wow that’s so interesting. It must really work. Coca has so many benefits!
Bethzeida Camones that sounds pretty scary. I hope things get better soon. It makes us happy to hear that our videos make you feel good.
I truly believe they Mr Potatohead was a service dog ! He’s so well behaved and calm. Like a person tbh
He was the best
💕💕date night was so good Alex! Someone is falling ❣️❣️🤗
We’ve been looking for it, its one of my favorites now
Dan Lockhart definitely special unforgettable moments
My experience about the coca tea is excellent,my health was not very good in 2016 so we went to Peru for a vacation to see Machu Picchu for month I started drinking coca tea in Lima and I stop taking my medications 2 “because the properties of the coca was doing my health improve a lot over there and We were eating all that good fruit, and the food and the sea😍,I miss a lot the coca tea , some are more strong than others, the vlog was excellent and the dinner awesome 👏 and Mr ph 😍😘
Beautful Dinner! What an awesome set up and view. Mr. Potato head is loving the company (family) 💕
Thank you, it was!
What took you so long??? I would chew it and hold it under my tongue while sleeping (HUGE headache) in Puno. Wake up three hours later, spit and chew new leaves. That helped somehow... Never had the other thing you added...
But of course, you should be acclimatize already after so many days.
Nelida Rubio wow it truly is magical stuff. That’s great that it helped with pain.
What a nice and romantic dinner!👏 The view is awesome! And I love seeing Mr. Potato Head enjoying himself with you guys.
Sidhiel Annithil it was a lovely dinner. Mr potato head definitely snAgged some table scraps. Thanks for watching.
@@lindseyfw2903 I love watching all of your videos while you and Alex are stranded in Peru. Your videos have been something I am waiting for watching all the time.
Sidhiel Annithil aww good that is so nice and makes us happy to hear
Glad to see a video that does a review of coca leaves that doesn't mock the host country for cocas illicit use. Subscribed!
Papas a la huancaina is a cold dish! That's the proper way to enjoy it...
We drink chicha morada hot and huancaina hot 🤷🏻 guess we’re doing it wrong
Andres Mujica haha by the time he served it, it was cold and I asked for him to microwave it 😆
@@TheTravelbum ha ha, both are meant to be served cold..
@@lindseyfw2903 try the huancaina sauce cold, I'm pretty sure you'll like it, greetings!
As coca is illegal here, never tried :)
As always, enjoyed the video a lot!
Simona Ciorei these avocados are perfect and only about 30-40 cents each. Sounds like your prices are similar to what we pay in the USA. Craziness.
Sol Andino is a store in London that sells tons of peruvian products and south american produce overall you should try there!
@@gotalifeanditsmine I will definitely try that store once lockdown and travel restrictions are lifted, because its almost an hour away from me by bus. Thank you for the tip!
😄😄 I love you, Lindsey. That Travelbum is one lucky dude.
Cynthia Berg love you too ❤️❤️
When your lockdown finally ends, please don't rush to leave the Cusco area.
Saludos desde lima PERÚ
The trick is to add a couple of sticks of chewing gum and that keeps the tiny leaves in the ball. Also a pinch of baking soda activates the alkaloids.
What a sweet heart ❤️ love watching you both on this journey!
Thanks for following 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi there, the taste /scent of vinegar coming from your chopped veggies, its because vinegar is use to desinfect food and probably they want to sell it on the safest possible way , since we are under C19 menace, ; Wish Lima was as ordered as Cuzco!
Love your channel , take care.
P.S. big hug to Mr. Potatohead 😁
Karmela Ponce oh yeah that could be a possibility, hopefully it was just extra clean. We gave him a hug for you 🤗 stay safe in Lima and glad you love the channel. Thank you very much!
Nice new intro! ✌️
User Paiche every video has a different into for now :) glad you liked it
Thanks ✊🏻✊🏻
I used to watch this in lockdown
Did you know the first ever coke cola was made with real coca extract , tasted real nice !!
Xen had no idea but that would have been delicious. It’s too bad they don’t still make that.
I'm 62 years old, and I am peruvian and I remember when I was a little girl, and somebody have tummy sickness, the doctor of my neighbor recomment drink cocacola because at that time it was like a medicine because it had coca in the ingredients, that was long time ago. So for peruvians and most of the southamericans coca leaves is like a medicine. It is sad that know in anothers countrys people don't apreciate the benefist of this plant.
@@lindseyfw2903 there are three soft drinks in south America that have cocaine in them
here is one from Peru called Kdrink
Peruvian soft drink contains base ingredient of cocaine

Hi! I am Peruvian! I have been living in The USA for about 7 years now. I am from Lima I will say that if there is one place I would like to be in quarantine is in Cuzco. great job with the Peruvian romantic dinner. Take care of yourself. I am glad you are in company.
In which state in the US are you in?
Luisa Shumway thank you very much. Yes Cusco is a wonderful plAce to be.
Wow, the iPhone’s footage is amazing looking. What iPhone is that?
I live in Cusco. I like their videos and I hope that this crisis will be overcome soon.
Michael Card thank you so much!
Coca look like a bay leaf!😉
It does!
Be well.
Manny E we appreciate the tips. Right now we are going to make coca tea with just the leaves to see how that tastes.
Great dinner.Well done Alex...
yann petton 👏
Another cool vid guys, Alex where do you get your shirts from ? 🙌🏻
joe clement I got Alex that shirt from pull & bear, but he says typically thrift stores or urban outfitters.

Paola O. Thanks for asking the question so we could mention you. We will have to look for it, I don’t think we have seen it yet.
Lindsey Fw Definitely try it out. You can the locals also. I believe you can ask for MAZAMORRA INSTANTÁNEA. You can add pieces of pineapple and apple in there too. It’s usually served with Arroz con leche sprinkled with cinnamon powder.

You should buy another pot. I’m sure they sell them in the bigger market you go to. It would make your cooking sooooo much easier.
