I purchased my 2000 just under 3 months ago and it spent it's first night out in the rain in my ownership. Found about half gallon of water in my rear storage. I have to say, unclogging the drain hole and watching the water pour out is so satisfying. Thanks alot

Man, this video was perfect for solving this issue today. Now my drains are all cleaned out and perfect! I cant thank you enough for showing exactly how this works!!

Wow. Awesome how-to video. This was ridiculously timely for me. Literally bought a 03 Spyder today and noticed some water inside on the way home (it rained). I checked the drain tube, and sure enough one side was completely blocked and the other side was mostly blocked. Thank you very much for this, you have literally saved the interior on my car.

Just bought an 00 and was greeted with a loud sloshing after my first heavy rain, thanks for showing how to clear these vents. Never would have guessed they were there :(

Okay "little white clips" officially renamed to little white F#@k clips. I have a slightly different panel than you so maybe mine was harder, but I assume it's relatively the same and you just made yours look "easy". What a pain in the ass that was. Nothing wanted to budge, and the panel that the 3 clips attach to is somewhat malleable, so when you pull on it the clips don't pop out! (and then when they finally do they break)
That being said, my car was indeed having water intrusion due to nature buildup in the drainage system, so thank you this saved my butt.
*if anyone is having trouble removing the little white F#@k clips from the car to reattach to the removable panel, here's a tip: I couldn't use my fingers to pinch the "wings" on the clips hard enough to allow them to slide back out of the holes they were stuck in so i used a small pair of needle nose pliers since the tool is small enough to fit inside the car and would allow me to pinch the "wings" to allow the clips to come back out.

Thanks, your video helped me clean out my drains. No more water in the storage box. I bought a new set of clips off eBay for £2.50 prior to doing the job and recommend doing so as my old clips almost all broke

Bro Thanks a bunch. I just bought a yellow 01' and I kept finding water in my storage compartments. I knew about the drain inside the car but I didn't know about the one under the air intake. Water flows through now. Thanks again.

Thanks, did this after having 2 small swimming pools in my car! I cut the three little legs on the outlet ad they just seemed designed to catch stuff and cause a second blockage

Great video, helped me clean my vents. Note that you can pull that drain cover piece right off which makes cleaning much easier. Also it's best to leave the white clips on the car and gently pull the vent so the brackets slide off the white clips. The black clips on the vent are much easier to slide off and more flexible compared to the white clips. The put back remove the white clips and reattach to the vent. Done.

    THANK YOU!
My garage queen has been in drive and have had many quarts of water on passenger side after heavy rain.
Unclogged drainage holes and think issue done!
NOTE: I was able to remove flapper assembly (pull slightly, lock at 12 O'clock position) for even easier access to clog.

Nice video man really helped. Every time it rained my car was always flooded (only reason I hated my damn MR2), but now that shouldn't be a problem. Keep up the maintenance videos for further improvements 👌🏼

This is great! Didn't even know about those, and wondered why I had a wet floor and couldn't find where it was leaking down. Very helpful video. Thank you.

Yes, my Spyder was neglected and covered in red mud when I bought her, so I am sure the drains are probably obstructed. Although, I am a little reluctant to take the exterior vents off as I do not want to break those white plastic clips that I know will be brittle with age. Broke too many other plastic clips already. Where can we buy these clips economically? Check with the mechanic on this one. Thanks for the vid.

I've always checked the ones behind the Sd scoops but never the ones under the rear deck. Sure enough I started hearing water sloshing around and found my pass carpet wet. UGH! Had to remove the pass seat and pull up the carpet and use a heat gun to get it dried up. It up being a piece of plastic had blocked the drain. FYI, you can trim the three plastic parts off that look like a peace sign on the ones behind the scoops so the debris don't get stuck in those with wire cutters. I've never had a problem since I did mine.

Great vids. I checked and broke a vent clip in the process, they're tricky. Love your channel, subbed!

+Oldskool4lyfe Yeah, those clips can be annoying. People have tried everything under the sun not to lose them, but the consensus is always just pull hard and be careful. as long as you still have two clips, put them on the top and the bottom of the side vent and it should hold.

By any chance do you have a part number for the little clips that hold the vent in place? I figure I ought to buy a few of them to have in stock in case I loose some of them. Love the channel. You are doing a great job. Thank you for doing these videos. Uncle Mush

Jonathan Halverstadt Hello Uncle Mush. I wish I had an answer but it looks like one of those parts that was just too small for Toyota to bother putting a parts number for in this list:
      spyderchat.com/00-05_parts_list.pdf
I'd say just take one of the clips or a picture to a Toyota dealer and ask them. That's what most people do and they've been successful.

@@themr2n00b4 I know it's WAY late, but for anyone who sees this video now, the part number for those clips is:
