A Neighbour of mine had a Polo they bought from an Auction and it ran absolutely awful it would only do about 8 Mpg turned out it was a faulty MAF sensor even tho no code's where showing. I did exactly the same as yourselves cleaned the throttle body etc etc before I found the problem, it was an absolute pain took me all day to figure out.
Ford springs ! My 2005 Mondeo front springs went in year five and six. Made of rubbish metal. I did one with a Partco for £30. The other a garage did as they found it on a MOT. I still have the car and teh springs are still ok. Have a good holiday and recharge your batteries.
19:59 NO that is no BMW BAUR edition. BAUR was a coachbuilder and had its own brand which makes a huge difference for example for the homologation. It is a treasure if it is good condition and well maintained, but designwise I had prefered the BMW 3 series convertible.
Same here, I had the an issue like that on my Polo, happened all of a sudden on the way to a service/MOT, no tick over no power. New plugs and coil pack and it was golden.
Enjoy your holiday Lee. Seems like a lot of dealers are avoiding VW/AUDI these days, even the french stuff seems to be more reliable and easier to fix. We deal with a small but very busy multi drop delivery firm here, the Peugeot Citroen vans seem to go on forever but do cost an absolute fortune MOT time. The Caddys just keep letting folks down, just can't take the abuse if worked hard. Different story in the 1990s though.
Have a great holiday Lee you deserve it fella and get yourself relaxed and enjoy family away time .. the legend you are still giving us supporters content while away shows how much you respect us and your channel.. hope you and your lady have a wonderful time… sending safe travels and see you soon mate 👍👍 Tony in fakenham Norfolk 👍👍👍
Springs are lighter these days for better performance, thinner spring less mass to rebound so better ride and roadholding, unfortunately they break, back in the day springs hardly ever went, seized top mounts means that the spring twists rather than the mount that causes them to snap, I'm just doing one on a corsa and tbh the broken one looks fairly new.
You initially description of the rear right wheel arch of the Fiesta “A bit of a @“ 6 minutes in made me laugh. My daughter loves her 7 seater VW. Enjoy your holidays, you deserve a rest, have a few beers.
Hi mate the wee vw polo poor running fault. If you strip back the injection unit wire lume you will find a wire starting to break or corroded. Repair all is good. Both VW and seat suffer with the same fault.
Cracking metro , I bought one a few years a go, mine was rotten though I put petrol in it and the fuel went all over the petrol station floor , the filler pipe had rotten through!!!
The Polo sounds very like a mass air flow sensor issue, even if the scanner isnt picking it up. Pitty you havent another polo to swap it with to prove the fault before spending money on a new one
Spoken to mechanics and they are convinced that the state of the roads and the road services putting in ramps is the major issue with springs especially when the weather is cold, jan to March some guys are doing springs every day of the week, take it easy Lee enjoy your break
I agree. I don't know how bad your area is. But I'm in the North West and 90% roads have been left so long they need totally resurfacing and when they do patch a pot hole it's an awful job.
@@Blitz9287 Totally agree - here in the Tameside (Greater Manchester) the roads have been shocking in last few years……if it is not major potholes and surface degradation, then it is the very extreme speed humps in some areas that you have to contend with……no fun in my partner’s small runabout car……a mk2 Smart with tiny front wheels and narrow track up front……in last two years it has cost us new front springs on both sides up front……we are seriously looking to shift it on now as it just does not cope well with the roads around these parts. Brought it up with us from Hampshire 6 yrs ago when we relocated and now I wish we had left the damned thing there - roads around here just seem to shake it to bits……and don’t even get me started on the state of the surface in Asda car park in Ashton-under-Lyne where it goes twice a week 😮😮
@@philipparker1319 My Polo has just had to have the 2 back shocks done and a coil spring last year. The mechanic who did it said the front shocks will need replacing before the next MOT in December as they are starting to seep fluid. I fully put it down to the state of the roads.
In the same half mile stretch of 40MPH potholed road I have seen two BMWs saloons with completely shredded tyres (one on each car). No wonder people are thinking they need an SUV with off road tyres.
@@MrDuncl People need to just stop getting 20" wheels with stupidly thin tyres. Yes the roads should be in good condition but at least get 18"s with some tyre.
Those polo's... not a fan of running on e10, recommended e5... if its been run on e10 for a while it could be the issue... new fuel filter, tank drain and 20 quids worth of fresh momentum may well sort the issue!
Enjoyed the video Lee, keep up the amazing work and hold your head up high - Sterling service, Amazing that Man on bike concluded 😅 Have a wonderful holiday you deserve it !
Really like your channel, everyday in the trade is different, can be challenging but always exciting....except for the suitcase lady hahaa. Keep the videos coming & thank you for all your hard work in making them.
Another video full of great content 😊, regarding the polo it might be worth finding someone with vag com I had a similar problem with my vw beetle 1.8 20vale turbo I ended up replacing the throttle body but I had to use vag com to configure it to the car I also had another instance with it where it was a similar problem a few months after it ended up being a faulty maf sensor. It's nice to see some appropriation for the old rovers I was always a fan of the tom cats myself well the 200 series I still miss my old 216 and 214. Can't wait to see your progress on your metro 😀😀
Honest used car dealer finally gets to stitch something up 😂 Enjoy your holiday Lee. You beat me to the weight joke and yes, it WAS like this has been a jinxy week!
ix20 looks like a nice car. Good spec for the money, roomy inside. Fuel economy not as good as Honda Jazz and more maintenance issues, apparently. But with Jazz you're paying more for its perceived good reliability
I had a Astra that would cut out on me occasionally then run fine for months. No codes, erc, etc. Troubleshooted a lot of things and it turned ot that the connector to the coil pack was the issue. Cleaned it and didn't fix it. Had to just cut the connector and repin and replace it by a part on ebay for under 10 quid. Ran excellent after that.
same on spring on our ford , apparently water runs on a certain area on the spring and corrodes it ........... some change only one , i think you should always do the pair ... i had a polo years ago and it got some dirty fuel in it and it would not hold idle , i had to keep taking out the idle jet out and blow some crap out , did it a lot , changed fuel filter and in end cut the hose and put another filter in line and that cured it ........
Of course, the effin Polo. I was rather intrigued why polo's quality was so highly praised. They cost much because they're perceived as slightly better quality, not because they're so good. In reality they're just slightly better than the french ones
The local Nissan dealer switched to Proton before closing completely. My question is where you can find any parts for such a car? I can imagine even something like an exhaust being a problem now. Probably far easier to find one for something like an MG Midget.
I thought you were talking to me cos I said Proton Savvy as soon as I saw it......I need to get out more!! 😆. Hope you and you good lady have a fab holiday and get some well earned rest.
Have a good Holiday obviously going somewhere warm guessing this time of year mid April not everywhere is hot so must be 1 of the Canaries. My recently late Dad his last brand new car was an X reg 323i BMW which he only bought as Datsun/Nissan were no longer importing the Skyline having his own business he got a new car every few years until after his 1 and only BMW.
Love these videos . Genuine and down to earth with a bit of northern humour thrown in for good measure 👍
That BMW is gorgeous Lee. The Rover 100 is a nice little thing too. Love an old school ride. Especially if it's 80s & 90s era.
have a good rest on your holiday
You need a break, otherwise you’ll burn out. Enjoy your holiday 👍😎
thanks bud 👍

What a great business you have 👍
You have a good business; people like buying from you, and I would, too. Have a great Break.
That is a rare Cabriolet, not a convertible Per Se.
My Polo 1.4 was like that. It had its fuel injector cleaned, new coil packs and new spark plugs and it sorted it.
might switch the injectors I have some spare 1.4s out of Ibiza using the same engine, good thinking 🤔
@@carukchannel Dont think ECU cant detect spray rate is off until it effects emmisions which would be way off. Well worth a punt.

It'll be throttle body on polo, prone to it, if it was 1.2 I'd say burnt valve but 1.4 is OK, great video mate.
