This isn't high tea. It's just afternoon tea. High tea is a hearty robust ploughman's dinner with ham, eggs, etc. It's a more heavy meal.

Based upon the snack offerings, this is afternoon tea, not high tea. Wish Americans would get it right.

you start by putting your napkin in your lap ,you start high tea with a small plate and of course a cup for tea ,you are offered appetiser first ,usually fancy fruit in a small bowl ,or glass , after which you start high tea from savouries to cake .take a sandwich ,break a bit off and eat .don't shove it all in at once ,that's bad manners ,then onto cake take one if its a scone cut or break in half put cream on and a little jam on the side of the plate add to scone as necessary. drink tea by adding milk and sugar as desired use a tea strainer to pour tea swish your spoon gently back and forth to stir not manic slurrpy stirring lol and that's how to take high tea quite simple .

trudy cutts, you are describing afternoon tea, not high tea. Please know the difference so others don't think badly of you.

Typical uncouth American calling it high tea instead of the correct Afternoon Tea

they put raisins in scones (old gummy biscuits) to hide the bugs that die of hunger waiting, and fall in (are those sprinkles on top, or did you drop it again?). they called it "high tea" because the hands on the clock were higher at noon, and they thought the sun got higher too, because they were not educated. horrible funeral rooms, chandeliers and cheek smacking perfumy ball room homosexuals stuffing snacks all day, and billing it to us, while we eat at work. - james mcashan for the US Senate

Neither of these ghastly urchins would be welcome within ten miles of our humble estate... Dear God, its like "high tea" on a carnival cruise! Pathetic. Neither, (especially the darker one) would even be allowed the car to deposit our Golden and Corgi at the groomers. We'd be forced to buy a tinted Subaru or something. What has society come to?! What a travesty!

Aaron Zufall Are u in comedy or for real? We always have High Tea here at the Palace..and our Footmen actually join us. The scones are also delightfully light in texture and weight and my favourite poodle just loves the crumbs...but I do wish he wouldn't lick the carpet ..it's so inappropriate when we have special guests.

Does the Windsor in MELBOURNE hire only Englishmen for it's higher positions? I noticed that the charming door person is a native, however, the proper-polly showing us how not to clink the cup, obviously has the "correct" accent. If pay for a high tea, I WILL clink the cup slightly when stirring, because the idea is to mix the sugar & milk w/ the tea efficiently. That cuppa' SHOULD be (in Sept) a Castleton or Makaibari 2nd flush & I aint one to waste such a tea fussing over absurdities.
