You could use some of the liberty silk to partly line your boilt wool coat (front panels, mainly). As for the rest of the silk I'd sew some kind of blouse.
Loved seeing these! As soon as I saw the cute striped canvas I thought pants. I made some cute pomona shorts with that type of fabric andbi love them. Or yantas? Or I love shop pants too...that would be cute! I just finished a pair of those. That wilder gown is going to be amazing!
I totally get that the base color of the floral stretch is a turn-off, but have you considered dying it? If you go burgundy, it could be such an amazing tone on tone look... and a matching suit it that would be brilliant! 😍
I think a matching jacket and trousers from the stretch flower fabric would be so quirky. Wear a dark burgundy top under the jacket, that would solve the issue of the basecolour.
I just jumped into making a coat for myself. I needed one so badly and did tons of research because it felt like I was doing something! But I finally realized I needed to actually do the thing. But truly it wasn't bad. I'm an advanced beginner and totally made it thru my coat. And now I'm so proud of myself! I love wearing it! Wool is a dream to work with and I enjoy using my pressing tools with it. So I believe in you!!! You're gonna have a coat soon! And then we can all celebrate you looking incredible and being oh so toasty warm! 🎉
That coat will be AMAZING! I also love the floral fabrics so much!! The one Jordan got you will be so beautiful as a liner; but also needs to be a star on something else too, you’ll think of something great ❤❤
I think that mustard stripe fabric might be called ticking. If I reach back in my mind, I think it has historically been used to cover mattresses….you can fact check me on that. The teal wool coat will be divine! You can do it! Totally!! Just take one step at a time and don’t stress it. Think of how snuggling and toasty you will be all wrapped up in it!
Also, years ago, Lisa Comfort did a Sew Over It Ultimate Shift top in a broderie anglaise fabric like you green floral print. A sleeveless top like that might be super versatile and really cute.
I actually went searching and found the fabric!! It's 100% cotton canvas and I did get it from Mood -www.moodfabrics.com/sage-stripes-canvas-hc21471 You will also be proud to know that I have made some progress on my coat already!
When people ask for suggestions on what to do with their fabric but don't mention any parameters, I tend to think, 'I don't know. I don't know your life, or your wardrobe and its requirements. Give me something to work with!' 😅 Having said that, I am going to weigh in on the Liberty silk. It's so gorgeous and precious that it deserves the maximum wear. So I'd think about what you will get the most use from; thinking in terms of cost per wear. What are the garments, made from fabrics with similar properties, that you wear over and over again? For me, that might be a robe for warmer seasons, with matching PJ shorts. Along the same lines, I also like your coat lining idea, as you'll hopefully get so much use from a winter coat, and you'll get to look at that beautiful print all the time, but I get that you'd rather use offcuts for that.
Nothing wrong with lots of Heather Blazers.. they are amazing.. Matching set are still in .. Called co-ords.. Another Heather and bottoms.. .. green floral... cute top.. Happy New Year and Happy sewing.. Now go make the coat
Make the Friday Pattern Ilford jacket from the striped canvas fabric. It’s the perfect fabric and the Ilford has a UA-cam instructional video . The Ashton top by Helen’s Closet would work fro the embroidered fabric if you use bias binding instead of a facing.
I have made the Style Arc Robe and I love it! I made it in a Viscose jacquard, so it is very luxurious. I feel very special in it!😂 it would be fine in your towelling...easy make. From memory, I think that I sized down one size. You can make the coat!!!❤ I think I need to make a Heather Blazer... OMG I love the green eyelet flower fabric. I think there is a Helen's Closet tank top. Could you het a Donny Shirt out of it? The pleated fabric is beautiful! What about an Audrey Hepburn style cape? I stopped myself, just today, from buying more pretty floral fabric, great minds think alike! I think the Wilder Gown would be gorgeous in your floral organza. Great idea! OMG I love the Liberty silk!!! What about making a New Craft House Every Day Dress? Yes, too lovely to use as a lining...good idea to use the leftover. Love your vlogs - they make me smile and laugh. Thank you for being you!❤
The floral you are contemplating for a quilt backing? Unless you are experienced that will cause you a lot of grief. Basting will be challenging. Spray glueing might be the best option if you decide to go ahead with it. Hand quilting is probably out too. Machine quilting will be easier if you have the backing on the top where you can see if it will stretch where you don't want it to. Use a sharp or quilting needle with a finger gauge than usual and sew slowly. Do not try with a universal needle, (they are useless for everything in my opinion) they potentially will pull and catch the fibres.
I was going to suggest a cord set with the floral, but hearing you say you would not wear it tells me use it for quilt backing. I absolutely love the green eyelet fabric. You could get a Deer and Doe Hyssop out of it or an Ashton Top. I am with you on making my beautiful fabric into something
Those are both really good options! I forgot about that Deer and Doe pattern and think it would be perfect for that fabric. Thanks for the suggestions and here's to using up our fabrics in 2024🥂
Can you use that flower stretch fabric to toile that wool coat? I have made some quilts and it might work for the back of a quilt, but you said it has stretch and that might be an issue. If you make the robes you could save them for Christmas or Jordan's birthday. I love when I do that. That wool for the coat is AMAZING by the way! Thanks for sharing your fabrics.
Such gorgeous fabrics! I just love that green eyelet fabric. What about the Fibre Mood Quilla top? I don't know if you have enough fabric for that and I've never made it but it looks like it would show off that fabric. Sheree Thomas recently made the Know Me pants 8022 and even though you're not enamored with the base color, that maroon floral would look banging in those pants. Just saying. Can't wait to see what you do with that sweet Liberty fabric! Here's to your coat in 2024!!
Happy New year, always love your fabric choices. The stripey fabric, make another heather blazer, you love the others so why not. The green floral eyelet fabric, Helen's closet Aston or sew house seven Remy raglan top. Liberty fabric what about fabric godmother peony dress
You are right about the Heather blazer! I also have been eyeing the peony dress. That would be really pretty....I'll add it to the list of possibilities🤗
With the floral fabric I think it would make a lovely duster coat for wearing over trousers 🪻💜🪻
That would be lovely!
Liberty silk, OMG, that's a gift and a half! 😮 You are one lucky lady! Whatever you make with it will be really, really special 😍
Right!?! Still haven't decided on the perfect project for it yet but I think I'm getting closer to an idea...
@@what_valerie_makes with fabric that beautiful, it pays to think carefully before going anywhere near your scissors ... 😉
You could use some of the liberty silk to partly line your boilt wool coat (front panels, mainly). As for the rest of the silk I'd sew some kind of blouse.
The green eyelit fabric as a skirt, with a yellow under-skirt would be cute.
That's a very high possibility for that fabric!

Your humor and your edits had me cackling the whole video!❤
Glad you enjoyed the video! We have fun editing them🤗

That is exactly what I am thinking! I'm going to do a little test to see how it takes.
That green broderie anglais would make a lovely mini skirt but it seems stiff for a tank top. I think the canvas would be fine for a quilt!
I think a matching jacket and trousers from the stretch flower fabric would be so quirky. Wear a dark burgundy top under the jacket, that would solve the issue of the basecolour.
I think I might try to dye it. Even if it was slightly darker I think I would wear it as a set! We will see🤗
Can’t wait to see them all!

That's a great idea to save the robe for a gift! I was also thinking of making a mini one for my nephew with the off cuts...Thank YOU for watching🤗
