  • Before gutting the truck I wanted to see what was operational if possible, so I replaced the ignition cylinder and fired her up.
I was able to move forward and back, but it had no power to really test things like the brakes. I saw the smoke screen (so did the neighbor's wife who was concerned...) and decided it was good for some laughs.
So I grabbed the GoPro and did it all over again. You could definitely hear major carnage! Best to stop while I'm ahead as the truck has a full tank of gas and if I'm not careful, I could lose everything!
I'll be making videos of the project, so stay tuned and hopefully I won't get too far behind.

Nice find. Can you pull a cab or 7.3 motor with that gantry? 4x4 legs and 2 2x10 across top?

I built it for swapping cabs on F350 crew cabs. I pull the 7.3's (and this V10) using an engine hoist or a 2 ton chain hoist inside my garage. The horizontal run is actually 2 12' long 4X4's one on top of the other and lag bolted together.

That sounds like a thrashing machine you should just redline it until it gives up and make a video🤣

It's a gas engine with a nearly full 40 gallon tank... and as it was, I could barely keep it running. I figured I'd better quit before I lost 3 trucks, tractor and my garage. It spit out some junk onto my driveway with two brief runs like that one.
