    When you had it connected to the seat heater it probably would've triggered when you turned the seat heater on. I bet that activates the circuit so it's better you moved it because it would've been annoying to have to turn on the seat heater in order to use the gauge.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  Рік тому +2

      So an update on that... It's entirely possible that the seat heater fuse would have worked. I found out that the "sens" error code was just because the cold starts were above 100psi. Once the oil warms up a little bit it drops off in pressure and the gauge reads normally! I called AEM and confirmed this is completely fine for the sensor.

    Great video my guy, can you give me some more info on the wiring or did you only have to use the two wires you mentioned which were the black and red one? Just curious of the brown and white wire.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  Рік тому +1

      The brown and white wires are for analog output to a secondary ECU or data logger. For just running info to the gauge, you can tape off the brown and white. Red goes to the add a fuse (5amp fuse) and black goes to a ground. Pretty simple!

    Have you considered adding an oil temp gauge? Thinking of adding one to have a warning light function but not sure how I'd connect it.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  Рік тому

      Your oil temp can be displayed on your Accessport, or on the oem center dash!

    • @MrKid37
      @MrKid37 Рік тому

      @@WRXGarage yeah but there's no warning light when approaching a specific temperature. Not really staring at my accessport when temps are around 250 haha

    I've been looking into this gauge and the AFR gauge. Now all of a sudden in the last couple weeks my oil temp is reading 10-12° hotter than normal, no idea why...probably gonna do an oil change here soon

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  Рік тому +1

      You might want to check on your coolant system too! The two interact with each other on the 15+ WRX

  • @RobHTech

    In series? In parallel. Can't you just use an OBD 2 dongle with a phone app as a display?
    I wonder if Subie will bring up any warranty repair claim denial if you/I have this pressure gauge installed and something oil-related goes bad. IMO I don't see how it would cause nay problems, let alone any warranty problems. But, I'm new to Subi with my '22 WRX, and I've read/heard my fair share of warranty denials, most of which are r/t ppl doing stupid things to their cars. Does anyone have any experience with any warranty claim denial a/w having this/other oil psi gauge installed?

  • @Smljhndnsmr
    @Smljhndnsmr Рік тому +1

    On an AccessPort, the list of gauge cluster options is staggeringly robust. It’s perplexing that Subaru doesn’t engineer its vehicles to send oil pressure data to its OEM ECUs.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  Рік тому

      Yeah it's incredibly disappointing.. but this install was actually pretty simple once I figured everything out!

    • @WRXGarage

      Oil light flashing on the dash is for oil pressure, that's a different issue than the oil light just being on.

    • @WRXGarage

      It's possible to do it without draining your oil but you'll definitely have some come out of that hole as it's 6-8 inches below the highest point in the system. I drained mine all the way because I was doing an oil change anyways.
