THE INSIDE CORNERS ARE CLEAN AND MODERN WITHOUT TRIM. I wouldn’t clutter the inside corners. What you have done looks wonderful, with very clean lines and the natural wood still connects well with the outside world. You two are doing an exceptional job. Katie I admire your skill and workmanship, you are a pro with a wonderful sense of design.

Katie it's looking gorgeous. The corner looks great to me if you won't to fancy it up you could use a small inside corner trim. You to do such a great job with milling your own lumber, trim and doing all your building. I can't criticize anything you all do.❤❤❤

Before you write off the router bit, bring it inside and make sure doesn’t just have ice in it. If it turns when it’s warm, oil up the bearing and put it back to use. Because it’s not turning it’s trying to turn the bit backwards and loosening the collet.

What can anyone say. You both are real artisans of wood. The finish looks outstanding, enhanced by the beetle stained pine. It’s also impressive that you do not waste any part of a tree that you fell. Once again another wonderful episode. Best wishes from North Yorkshire, England.

Hi Katie and Greg. I always enjoy the random scenes and animal shots you edit into your footage Katie. Those goats are so cute and the way they interact with you always makes me smile. They are like little people almost. The stairwell and closet turned out great and look stunning. For me, I would NOT trim the inside corners. They look good now and I feel it would be a mistake to add trim to them and create a different look. That's my 2¢. You guys did a fantastic job as usual. Have a great week ahead. The wife made our bifold doors and they turned out amazing. Far superior to anything you could get commercially. We've also built one bathroom door so far and it too came out beautiful. We did the shiplap walls alternating with sheetrock walls (all the walls on the east/west sides are shiplap and the north/south walls are sheetrock. We also did tongue and groove ceilings throughout. We've still got a lot of the tedious trim to do and more doors, but like your home, ours is all done ourselves and it was just appraised by the bank at $281,000 even before it is finished. Not bad for two old farts.

Katie I think it's beautiful, and would leave well enough alone. How many times will anyone going up of down the stairs will look at those two corners? Just seal or stain it and you're done. You two work so hard to do things just right and that is a point of pride for yourselves. Congratulations!!!

The walls for the staircase walls look amazingly beautiful!! As far as the inside corner, I’d leave it as is - adding a little strip might make it look a “little busy”. Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing. You to must be so proud of yourselves for this project and you should be. Flipflop with socks guy - get a new router bit! The little bit of detail that it makes is important. So glad Katie added that little clip! Already looking forward to the next.

If your boards fit tight on the inside corners just leave it like it is if you have gaps then trim it out

  • @smarthome2660

Hey guys, I always cope my inside corners. Alternating left then right, butt a left piece on then scribe a right side, butt a right side, then scribe a left, rinse & repeat. You can also add a 1"x1" first then butt all to that inside corner. Outside corners can be 45 degree scribed as well for a much cleaner look. This looks amazing when you use a lap siding with no inside or outside corner trims. This method when doing lap siding requires every board be the exact same width.

3:50 You can advance the guide of your under-table milling machine on the cutter to adjust the cutting depth you want to make on your boards. This way you can use the cutter without the bearing. All you have to do is push the boards against the guide on either side of the cutter.

The pine looks great. The grain will really pop when you apply a finish. As far as the inside corners, I would leave as is. Outside corners need trim to provide protection and to hide the end grain. Inside corners need neither. If you feel that it needs some trim get a cove router bit and make a bit of cove molding to run on the inside corners.
Speaking of router bits, you can work around the broken bearing on the bit by isolating the bearing just inside the router table fence so the wood never touches that part of the bit. You can also buy replacement bearings or take a bearing off of a different bit. Thanks for the episode.

Looks great!! On the inside corner trim - depends. If you’re wanting to hang things for holidays, I’d suggest a 1” x 1” piece. That way you can put in small eye screws to the trim & leave the main wall “unholy”…but not in the bad way 😉 That way it’s an easy hang & take down

If you don't want to buy another router bit to produce more shiplap boards then cut your rebate or rabbit with your table saw, it will need 2 cuts, 1 cut with the face of the board down on the table and the 2nd cut with the face of the board to the fence. Hope this helps. Kind regards from a woodworker in England 🇬🇧

That pine would look lovely with a counting of Osma 3032 satin finish it’s a wax oil and 2 coats of it on that wood and it will make the grain and the colours really stand out and protect the wood for years when I did wooden floors we used it on them and it increased the value of the floor boards we sold from £15 per square yard to £60 per square yard we would make ornaments etc and we coated everything in
Osma 3032 and the value always went right up it was unbelievable how good it made the wood look also increasing the value and preserving the wood for future generations to admire. My oak flooring has been down for. 12 years now and still looks as good as new😊😊😊😊
