My father used to sing "Sunny Side of the Street" to me. He would be beside himself with delight listening to these gorgeous young women scatting and singing it in perfect big band style. Because of him, I am, too!
Beside myself with delight is pretty much what I experience! One unique thrill we get from Sant Andreu Jazz Band is seeing and hearing the musicians in many different videos as children, teenagers and adults. Where else could you see that?
I love this song! It was used for a nighttime jazz program on radio in austria, moderated by Walter Richard Langer. This may be the sweetest interpretation of the song ever!
An amazing set. It is so difficult to get my head around the fantastic talent these "kids" project. I think that we owe a great debt of gratitude to Joan Chamorro for introducing us to these wonderful musicians.
They all from Spain.... & director & teacher is Chamorro.... I love their American taste... & some Brazilian too.....both styles are my favorite music. Aren't 'em great ?
Somehow I missed this one along the way -- and it's not a set to miss! Great job by the core of the band, showing not only their great talent and skill, but also a lot of hard work and practice, I'm sure. Glad I found this!
Am so impressed by the talent of this young generation of players...my 16 y old daughter is rewarded today. Y her school..she os a cello player...and this came as a big surprise...will be on zoom...because of the crap going on...but all the same...did a lot of things in. MY life and that the one missing playing an instrument..so kudos to all musicians young and older...
jknutbensHear hear! But some years have gone since this clip was recorded. Both Andrea and Eva (and Magali, the bass player, too) have now matured to amazing artists in their own right, but are still working closely with their former teacher. Still, the professionalism of these kids remains stunning; no matter how often you watch this clip!
What limits the popularity of this genre of music is not a lack of talented performances it is the fact that the tyranny of playlists on radio mean that very few are exposed to this music or feel that as it is not part of mainstream pop it is someone inferior, totally wrong of course.
@@DevonDandy Let's be honest. Without meaning to sound elitist, this is music that takes some ability to listen to and feel and understand. Not everyone has that ability. The musical pap fed to children is meant to appeal to those who can't hear music this...musical (for want of a better word)! And a lot of money is being made catering to that audience.
At the beginning only Andrea had the audio it would have been great to hear all instrument individual sounds equally, nonetheless fairly good enough performance. thanks so much.
Bravo Joan , un grand et immense plaisir de vous écouter avec ces jeunes !! Félicitations à vous tous !! Au fait , avez vous des cd '' !??? Un batteur de Perpignan !!!
Andrea and Eva scatting over "Basin Street"! Magali playing bass already, apparently since the year zero. Then in the second part, Alba so young that I thought she was Elsa for a moment. How did you get this? Thanks so much for posting it.
¡ Maravilloso ! Muchas gracias a los intérpretes y a Joan Chamorro. Qué privilegio y alegría poder disfrutar de esta maravilla ❤❤ 👏👏👏👏
Muy profesionales estos jóvenes mucho talento que sigan produciendo felicidad
In addition to the talent of all these young musicians, I always notice the spontaneity and pleasure that they radiate in every performance.

Mr Joan Chamorro must have the most wonderful job; to make beautiful music and teach these young admirable, wonderfully talented kids.

Love revisiting these videos of yesteryear and seeing these pioneer kids of the SAJB expressing themselves and playing great jazz, pure pleasure.

These kids are the rising stars of jazz and what stars they have become. Can't understand why their vids don't go viral upon release.
