Haylage silo full, corn silo and two bags full. Just need your hi moisture corn and your beans combined and your harvest will be wrapped up. Stay after it. Amazing what you can get done if you get the weatherman to.cooperate.
Interesting video, nice explanation of the filling bag process. I get the wanting the silage at the right moisture for the seal store. Back when we fed high moisture corn out it the Harvestore, you didn’t want it much over 22%. Any wetter and you’d get some very nice water coming out when you ran corn out.
Great Video Mike, have you used a bunker for maize silage, I know the towers are on their way out, will you just use the bag system, thanks for sharing
Thank you Tony. I've packed haylage in a bunk once at a neighbor's but we've never used a bunk silo. We still use the silos and only bag silage to feed in between cleaning out the silo and refilling it
I used a Kelley Ryan on the farm I worked on when I was younger. The way that farm was set up, as the bag filled you had to back the wagon up- was a pain sometimes lol
Interesting to watch a bagger work. We never bagged as we really don't have a great place to put a bag without making a great muddy mess. I'm familiar with Itty Bitty Farms. They produce nice stuff. I've gotten soaps as Christmas gifts for my mother and sister.
Pro tip, Bungie cord on steering wheel on the bagger tractor helps keep it going straighter for longer, still have to keep an eye on it if there is internal leaking in the steering ;)
Oh geez now you are making me think. Had to have been planted in May. We tested some this week and it tested 31 so its shouldn't be too much longer. Problem is we are getting the rain now
Mike that's another great video, thanks for poasting it. Great camera work and great commentary, I learned a few things. 1 Question; is there any chance you might poast a video showing how you recover the silage from those bags? All the best to you and yours.
Thank you Richard. It will probably be a little bit before we start feeding out of the bag. Here is a video I did a year or 2 ago feeding out of the agbag. Hope you enjoy... ua-cam.com/video/HZ9_pHLEsmU/v-deo.html
May I suggest the next time someone is milling a road or parking lot that you try and get every load you can. They make a great and cheap pad to put the bags on and keeps you from mudding during the winter
Great job Mike! With the bags don't you have to let the gasses escape for a period of time before sealing it up? One of the few things I never got to do on the farm was silage.
I have heard that. In the past I just sealed it up the night I got done bagging. Never had an issue. I posted a video a few years ago and everyone yelled at me for not waiting for the gasses to escape. My buddy does the same thing I use to do. He sealed it up as soon as he filled it and never had an issue either
It’s really interesting to see how that all works and to learn there are different systems/methods of stuffing the loaf. 😃 12:43 Excellent repurposing of the pry bar!
Once you get all set up and get rolling bagging actually goes by pretty quick. I enjoy bagging. Also it means we have more silage then the silo can hold which is a good thing
You get some. You gotta make sure its sealed up really good and packed pretty tight and spoilage will be a minimum. We had 1 year where the birds pecked holes all in the top of the bag so we got a lot of spoilage that year and another year we had animals digging into the side of the bag. As soon as air gets to a spot there will be spoilage there
I like the “extension arm” for the pto lever. We tried bagging hayleage once end result was lot of mold spores from not packing in tight. The guy that brought it over never told dad we needed a high horse power tractor. We had the Massey Ferguson on the chopper an on the ag badger which is a 80 or 85 hp. Had it running at full power.
We take them off our tractors. All the 3 point hitch arms are on a pallet in the shed. We don't have anything that is hooked up with at 3 point hitch so we take them off. That way they aren't banging back and forth and getting in the way
I lost count of how many we put in. We probably could have put another load or 2 in it. We had an issue with one of the tires which caused the brakes not to be applied
What an awesome day! Thank you for sharing Mike.
Thank you. It sure was an awesome day

Definitely a good crop year. Yeah I think I have a better chance of winning the lottery then having the weatherman cooperate!
My ag bagged grass silage was the best I ever had! Great vid!
Thanks Gene. Glad you enjoyed the video
That machine has a faster conveyor speed than the other brands, looks like you got a nice even fill.
Thanks Gary. The bag can get a little lumpy hear and there but overall I think the bagger does a nice job
Great video about bagging corn silage very interesting thanks for your time to do the video keep up the great work you do on your families farm
Thank you Andrew. Thank you for taking the time to watch them
Your.little man is really growing sorry i haven been around my phome broke and i could find you hope everone is.ok.
Thanks James. He sure is growing up fast. Glad you were able to start watching again

Thanks Jeff. Glad you enjoyed the video. I know what you mean about the wet corn. I've seen that before
Interesting video thank you for sharing. Stay safe 🏴 👍 👌

Interesting. I know a guy in the next town that has one. Most the ones you see around me are AgBag
Looks like a good and productive day. Those days are NICE!
Thank you Lloyd. It definitely was a productive day
Great video Mike! God bless
Thank you Greg!

Yeah it is pretty neat to watch that bagger work. Its pretty cool seeing the soap making process. You'll have to go on facebook and give them a like
@@mikep7810 already done. They sometimes set up in a market in Shawano WI. Karol is a very nice thoughtful person.

I did do that 1 year, however 4040 has a leak in the steering so it didn't do much
Great video 👍 interesting the bagger don't see it much in uk it's a good way of storing
Thanks 👍
Thank you. The bagger, like everything, has its pros and cons.
Just stopped by for the content. Silage bagger is interesting. Getting lots (too much) rain in Central Illinois right now!
Thats not good. Hopefully everyone is still able to continue with harvest without rutting up the fields
You are best mike exelent work greetings from burley idaho
Thank you Carlos. I'm glad you enjoy the videos
Got a great future farmer there Mike, getting so big. Continued success my friend
Thank you Bob. When he is a know-it-all teenager I'll have him look back at some of the old videos when he was a kid! lol
Wow When was that corn planted I can’t believe how much wetter your corn is your way than what ours is our way now it’s raining like hell
Oh geez now you are making me think. Had to have been planted in May. We tested some this week and it tested 31 so its shouldn't be too much longer. Problem is we are getting the rain now
@@mikep7810 yeah pouring here 🤬 definitely won’t be doing any beans for a while
You got a lot of good feed there. You had a good day.
Thanks Herb. Really good corn crop this year

Thats a good idea. We've talked about doing that. Haven't had anyone mill a road around us in a while
We used ag bags when dad did silage
We use them when we have more silage then the silo will hold. Its always a good thing if we are bagging
Great job Mike! With the bags don't you have to let the gasses escape for a period of time before sealing it up? One of the few things I never got to do on the farm was silage.

He has gotten big
Yes he has. Pretty cool to watch old videos and see how much he has grown the past couple of years
It’s really interesting to see how that all works and to learn there are different systems/methods of stuffing the loaf. 😃
12:43 Excellent repurposing of the pry bar!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah the bar definitely helped!
that looks like a lot of work
Its not too bad
Mike do you guys have alot of small square bales and how many round bales left
We did pretty good with the small bales this year and there are still a few rounds. Hopefully enough to get through the year
I love chopping corn
Its definitely a great job
I like them rotopress baggers better them the agbag, seams easier to run! One used it twice tho just because not enough silo space!
Once you get all set up and get rolling bagging actually goes by pretty quick. I enjoy bagging. Also it means we have more silage then the silo can hold which is a good thing
Daddy’s little helper
He sure is
Good video Mike!:) farm on
Thank you Julius
Do you get any spoilage? I always wondered if they were better
You get some. You gotta make sure its sealed up really good and packed pretty tight and spoilage will be a minimum. Sure is

Thats too bad. We probably should have a little higher HP tractor on it but the 4040 seemed to handle it ok
@@mikep7810 👍🏾
My uncle and cousins farm all done with corn. Brother in laws farm getting started in week
Hopefully they had a good corn crop
We had 3 200 foot bags. We see what we get on the next farm. Great videos by the way
@@bryankeator8396 Thank you. I appreciate it
Noticed the 4040 did not have a 3 point hitch

how many loads in a bag that size
I lost count of how many we put in. We probably could have put another load or 2 in it. We had an issue with one of the tires which caused the brakes not to be applied
It'd be interesting to hear the corkscrew verses finger bigger debate.
Yeah I've never used one of the other baggers so I can't compare it. It will be interesting to hear what my buddy thought of it
👍🍻🇺🇸
Thank you Keith
