    Should this tip be used for other rc's?
    I scored a Redcat Volcano for 20 bucks. One dogbone was bent, so i ordered four to replace them all. Just wondering if i should consider doing this mod

      It's been a trick to stop dogbone/cvd slop for years. I first encountered it when I was building my RC10T back in the early 90s. They had you put a couple of plastic 'caps' into the diff outdrives to protect the ball diff tightening screw and then a rubber o-ring (or 2) on each side to help hold those in and remove dogbone play.
      It's a great trick for dogbones if you have a lot of play!

      Hi yes you can use this trick to tighten up the dog bom in-between the two drive cups, you can also do this on each drive cup to center the dog bone but make sure you don't use to much spacers in them that when you compress the suspension it gets so tight and the dogbone binds up and suspension movement gets hard when compressing the suspension. You always want some side to side play with the dog bones all the time when going through the cycle of the suspension movement. Hope this helps.

    Good tip Steve. I cut the small ends off foam ear plugs and use those if I'm out of O-rings. They're not a long term solution but they make a good temporary fix.

      Cool that will work!! you can use the silicone fuel line for RC cars also just cut it to the size you need. 👍

      That's funny these cheapo plastic tamiya shocks are most like the only ones I have found that never leak all other RTR cars and stuff there shocks always leak and they could be aluminum!

    I rarely put O-rings in my kits drive shafts. I have many Tamiya kits that actually want you to do this, but I rarely do. Some times I will put shims in the drive parts to make things work better. Tamiya kits do have a lot of slop in the drive train, but that is okay. Thoughts?

    • @ShenRC
      @ShenRC  Місяць тому +1

      Hi on this one the rear axle in the carriers is tight so you will have to use a O ring in the gearbox outdrives. 👍👍
