I'm actually in the camp where I think the art direction is a vast improvement to the stale maps we typically see in war games - without personality. To have it match the Greco-Roman pottery I think is a cool nod to past art influences. Looks like a great war game - thanks for the coverage!
The only gripe is I wish the price point was lower than 74 euros. Think the margins are large on this game.

I think the clean design would be a bit spoiled by additional location iconography. A location/card manifest from the publisher or from fans as was made for A Few Acres of Snow will be a vital play aid though.
This is one of my favorite games - one of my five "10s" of ~600 BGG rated games.

@@georgefothergill4858 I have, I must say i really like Cthulu realms. But this is another level, more meaty, crunchy and deep

I wonder if it has a "Halifax Hammer" -- time will tell

No it doesn’t. This game is not new. It is a remaster and Hands in the Sea has stood the test of time as one of the best out there

I adore this game but this new art style looks so cold and wasted an opportunity to provide some absolute spectacular art on cards etc

I played this game when it came out in 2016. I didn’t much care for it, but at least it looked good. This rendition is utterly hideous. A map board with black water? What on earth were they thinking?
I can only hope they improved the gameplay.
