Lyrics:
I can't believe the news today
I can't close my eyes and make it go away.
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long, how long?
'Cos tonight
We can be as one, tonight.
Broken bottles under children's feet
Bodies strewn across the dead-end street.
But I won't heed the battle call
It puts my back up, puts my back up against the wall.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Oh, let's go.
And the battle's just begun
There's many lost, but tell me who has won?
The trenches dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters
Torn apart.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long, how long?
'Cos tonight
We can be as one, tonight.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Wipe the tears from your eyes
Wipe your tears away.
I'll wipe your tears away.
I'll wipe your tears away.
I'll wipe your bloodshot eyes.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
And it's true we are immune
When fact is fiction and TV reality.
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die.
The real battle just begun
To claim the victory Jesus won
On...
Sunday, bloody Sunday
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
38 years later and we haven't learned a thing. Thanks Bono. Best live versión EVER
Malignant narcissists do not change...ever....this is why they have to be killed. Malignant narcissists are some of the most dangerous people who walk the planet, and the FLOCK to the power, control & admiration that politics affords them. i.e. Hitler, Stalin, Idi Amin, Putin, and trump's psychopathology isn't too far from malignant narcissism and is certainly full blow NPD.
It's not that humanity doesn't learn, it's that narcissists, malignant narcissists, socopaths and psychopaths cannot change...EVER...as it's psychopathology that warps their moral character (which is why they are known as characterological disorders).
This is NOT mental illness. Mental illness can be medicated, and psychopathology and characterological disorders are disorders of moral character.

I guess you have an awesome taste of rock and roll / God bless you from 🇨🇦

Im 53, U2 fan forever
this is the very first U2 video I've ever seen (first time watching it right now) and i am 13... is this a sign???
That was the younger years of u2 band I think that was in the late 70s if I'm not mistaken,I'm now 42 and a u2 fan forever god bless to all!!!!
This U2 song is timeless...hands down classic...love the part where Bono screams "I'm so sick of it!!!!" Noted.
It’s one of his best lines ever if not the best.

Everyone in Ireland and UK were sick of it! All people wanted was peace and to live together, not being scared of bombs going off while out shopping with kids.
Timeless!
And The Edge, anybody! He revolutionized the Electric Guitar! A whole new driving, ringing and chopping sound! Amazing. U2 changed music! A major milestone in Rock music!
U can say whatever you want, but this song is and always will be legendary
Especially nowadays
not this song ...U2 will be
Yes, especially to the Irish.. I love the English, but so much bloodshed would have been avoided if they had just gone back home!
@@eileenmunson3647 I think it was a bit more complicated than that. And it wasn't just the English there.
Mullins might have not been the most technical drummer ... but his unique sound/beat differentiated U2 from the others. He doesn't get the credit he deserves. U2 is legendary.
One of the few live performances that is actually better than the studio version.
Indeed 😎
I was there. 8 rows back on the left. It was beyond magic. I remember every note, perfect or not. It was and remains the most real live performance I have ever seen.
40 years later and we haven’t learned a thing.
U2 has been the band my family listens to on every New Year's Evening since 2000's. And we are not even aglophones. We're from southern Brazil. I am glad you had that experience. Let it live. He comes soon. ✟
When the fog rolls onto the Colorado foothills like that, it can be a magical thing.
Jealous truly
PLLLLease... "Every note, perfect or _not!"_ This is probably the best version of the song in existence. It's perfect the way it is. At least music was still real then! Also, at least Bono was still REAL then. This new Bono is not Bono, it's a completely different person 100%... Men simply don't change the way he changed... And people don't have plastic surgery to look worse. His entire features are different, in a negative way. He doesn't even have the same voice! This is the real Bono. I don't know where this Bono went, but he's absolutely not the Bono presented to the whole world today! It's a bit scary.
I remember this as an innocent 26 year old in 1983 and it still blows my mind as a well-worn 66-year-old. I still have the VHS video
bro is old
I'm almost 55 and I was at the concert and I still remember it as being one of the most intense, beautiful, wonderful moments of my life.
Wasn't that cool how it rained and Bono said we will see you tomorrow in Boulder
Hold on to the memories
I'm 56, I was there, and the next day at HS in Aurora I think was the last day of my junior year. A few people asked me to sell them my ticket stub, so they could get in at Boulder, since it sold out immediately. I've been to many good shows and some great, but U2 at Red Rocks was on its own level higher.
I am 61 and I was there in row 32 off center stage right. NEVER have I been able to find us in any of the footage. lol I've looked though. I was freezing my t*ts off, I was drenched, but I did not care one bit! ♥
Awesome! I hope you had a great time! What a time to be alive!
Fun fact. U2 is the only band to make it into the Red Rocks Amphitheatre hall of fame off of just one performance. They kicked ass and left so hard they gave them a spot. I grew up in Denver so red rocks is the spot.
also crazy to think that the band members were only 21-23 years old
There are many great outdoor venues. Red Rocks is the Rose Bowl. And this is coming from a Pine Knob fan.
Know what brought me back here? Matt and Trey.
That’s definitely the best they ever were imo
That must have been awesome. They were young and hungry man and they showed it.

Very powerful and touching performance of U2. Iconic! I am listening and watching this video while the latest Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the long drawn out war between Russia and Ukraine are going on... this song although referring to a different situation is applicable here as well. Sadly, the peace and love that music and musicians share are not shared by the leaders and guardians of nations. Maybe one of the sides is compelled to react to save their own community/nation from those who have either provoked or aggravated them. It's an irony and yet a valid question when Bono sings, "How long must we sing this song?" Wish for ultimate peace and harmony in the world.
I've been searching for comments like that

Best version of this song, I don't always listen to U2 since I'm only 18 and really enjoy other bands/artists and modern artists. However, nothing makes me feel so good but sad as U2 does, my dad played U2 all the time while I was growing up. Miss you Dad.

@@pauljordan4452 Then why did Bono become a globalist shill?
I was there at this concert in 1983. It was as cool as it looked. The opening bands (Divynls and the Alarm) wouldn't go on because it was so wet and cold. U2 was determined to do the video, so the show went on. Props to them. Not only that, they felt bad about the conditions and said anybody with a ticket could go to a repeat show the next night at the University of Colorado Events Center. It was great, thanks U2!

Bono came out before the show to give hot drinks and refreshments to the fans who showed up early. They really had no choice but to do the show, they were on the hook for $25 K in costs to have the thing filmed. that day.
Too bad Divynils and The Alarm didn't play though
Never realized how amazing the drums are in this song.
Sunday Bloody Sunday was my introduction to U2 at a very young & impressionable age! The Irish & Native American heritage in me loved the balls to the wall adrenalin rush that the lyrics, Bonos singing & the Edges guitar playing ignited in me! I'm still listening to & loving U2 in 2023!

Music was more important then. Today it is a cheap commodity with little value. Hopefully a new generation will review and renew what we once had.

To peace in The Holy Land.."How Long must we Sing this Song "
That is the most unholy place , people have died there for 3000 years
I really couldnt believe the news
As a 90s kid (born in April of 90') i fell in love with music VERY young. I had all older friends and i was the youngest of all my brothers and sisters so i was introduced to great music very early on. I never thought great music would be dead so quickly. Today music is total garbage and most modern artists should be ashamed of themselves. I still play guitar and drums and write songs but i would never want to be a part of what music has become. Its all perfect voices singing about nothing interesting with zero heart. But its perfectly autotuned and written about the trendiest things so people accept it. Its like we handed to least sincere people the keys to the musical kingdom and turned our back on anyone with sincere music to share. Id rather listen to sincere music sung by musicians with crappy voices over insincere music written by 30 "producers" sung by someone with a cookie cutter "perfect" voice thats had all the life and human element "perfected" out of it.
The absolute best version of it...When U2 was still a hungry Irish Rock band....Wish they had stayed like this...
I fully agree.
Hard to stay "hungry" when you literally reach the pinnacle of rock music and stardom and become generational wealthy. That they continue to produce great music is a testament to how hungry and great they are. Many other bands and singers do and would have faded in to oblivion or voluntarily bowed out after obtaining that level of success.
SBS is so relevant at the end of 2021. "I can't believe the news today" is what everyone in Europe and possibly on earth will be saying in a few months as Ukraine and the world drift toward all out war. _Influential US Senator Roger Wicker, who is on the powerful US Armed Services Committee, said recently that the US might have to start a nuclear war with Russia to defend Ukraine. Other US politicians and a German geo-political expert also voiced this view_ I'm from India btw. But don't worry! I believe, as did 85 percent of the greatest scientists in history like Sir Isaac Newton, Michael Faraday, James Clerk Maxwell etc, that Jesus Christ will return to finally bring peace to humanity. We are all children of the same mother the Bible says and so does science with mtDNA results. Please take care all,and call your parents more often and hug your loved ones tighter. The Bible did say that God is Love personified. :)
@@charleysangel2866 Once upon a time (30 years ago) there was U2. Nobody complains that they don't keep making good music cert, commercial music. Let's say that they "had" to adapt to the times, if they had "kept" their "rebellious" line perhaps today they would not even be a band anymore, as happened to other bands that have not "bent" and adapted to making music to make number instead of music to make "history". They sang the "stories" of the struggle for Irish independence, they sang the rebellion of those who did not want to give up and wanted their rights respected. Today they sing songs in favor of globalization and the loss of the culture and identity of peoples. I think they will end their careers by writing songs for cartoons. I personally stopped listening to them after "Zooropa" when I realized how they were turning to more "commercial" music.

agreed. But wars have been fought for thousands of years - so the odds of world peace being achieved in our lifetimes would sadly be around 0%. As GRRM put it "The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends, it is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace. They never are.”
