- Descanso Gardens has one of the best holiday light events in Southern California with an amazing set of 10 light installations on the property. It feels like you are walking through an art show as you make your way around to each of the experiences and it was one of the funniest things I did during the 2021 Christmas season. Just went to the Enchanted Forest last night. I arrived at 7:30 and stayed till closing, I wish I arrived earlier! 10/10
I'm a huge fan of these immersive light events. The right lighting and sounds can transform just about any location into a magical experience!

I’ve been there many times - I’ve seen all kinds of camera equipment. There’s a wedding/special event pavilion and gazebo. I’ve seen many weddings photographed there.

I've been there a couple years ago with some friends, im finally going back with my gf, glad to see that they kept majority of the "main" installations
I went there almost 2 years ago! It was my first time in CA and at Descanso Gardens. I would recommend to go and see the exhibit for yourself , you won’t be disappointed.

Ah! My former neighborhood! So many fond memories. Where do I start? The annual Camellia bloom, the Christmas decorations, my grandchildren loving the Japanese garden and koi ponds; Wine tasting parties; strolling in the rose gardens, concerts. It’s just a lovely place. I miss it. Thank you for reminding me of how wonderful it is. $32 per person is steep. I’m sure it’s less if you are a member. I was a member for years and it was worth it. Sigh!

It’s gorgeous in spring -roses blooming everywhere; A forest of Camellias in February-March. A great place to just take a troll at any time. Don’t just go at Christmas. If you have youngster, there’s a miniature train - kids absolutely love sitting on it as it winds through the forest.

Went there last night with GF, absolutely beautiful to see all the installations & illuminated trees. Loved the all the contrasting colors, lights, and shadows. 😉

In Oakland zoo they used to have a holiday light festival. You'd go at night and everyone got a pair of those holographic light refracting paper spectacles. Like the 3D red and blue paper spectacles, only these would take a single point of light and split it into 8 lights. It was a real trip wearing them when someone else drove home, the traffic lights, headlights and taillights, Xmas tree lights. Fun year round. But don't wear while driving or even walking alone. At the zoo they had archways covered with !lights to walk through, and you had to do it with and without the glasses on. It was like being on psychedelics without taking them

OMG! That is so beautiful! I love visiting gardens and I am a photographer so this is my kinda place. I’ve not heard of this garden and event before, I don’t live in the Los Angeles area. But I will make a little trip of it and go see this for sure! Thanks so much!

what happened to the round jump pads that turn color? Only been there the first time it came around. That was absolutely the highlight.

O you said $32 to enter. Honestly thats a bit high but I've never seen a place I'd love to explore more. So maybe it's worth it. Looks so cool.
Yea, it is a bit high but I found it to be worth it personally. It was a very cool experience
That fee is just for the holiday light event. The daily entrance fee is under $10/pp less for children and a better deal if you’re a member. It’s 5 minutes from Pasadena so lots of hotels there. Don’t try to go over New Years! The Rose Parade and Rose Bowl sell out every hotel for miles.
When I was little like preschool age our family used to come here I barely remember it ,also I literally until now kept thinking it was called “The Scanso gardens” not “Descsanso”
Can you bring a tripod?
Cost: $32 per person? I guess somebody has to pay the electric bill. Would also hate to go around and change all the lightbulbs.
We are members so we visit regularly, it’s interesting to watch them set this up, they start a couple of months in advance. When you see everything that goes into setting this up the price seems quite reasonable. Miles and miles of cabling. Afterwards they are able to tear it down really fast though, a few days later there is no trace of it. Oh by the way, you have to buy tickets in advance, not sure about this year but in the past it has sold out.
I really wish it wasn't $30 for kids 12 and under. That reeks!
