  • When I want to try out an old version of Windows I turn to Hyper-V on Windows 11. In this video I show how you can use Hyper-V to run old version of windows like Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP on modern hardware.
There are a few steps you must take to enable older versions of Windows to run on Hyper-V which I will show you in this walkthrough.

I need to run 3D STUDIO MAX KINETIX 1996 ... and I am using win 11 - how can I run it? Changing compatibility does not work for me... And I suppose that Hyper-V is not a good option ..

You could create VM running an old version of Windows eg 2000

It says I do not have the "required permission to complete the task - see system administrator"
I am running Win 11 Professional and can install 64bit OS's on Hyper V but specifically want to run legacy 32 bit software that requires 32 bit XP
Then I followed a guide to solve that and MAN at that point it got scary and very complicated
It required running a huge script through Powershell. A script well over a page of code. Full of scary looking stuff that seemed to be giving permission for the great lord "Internet Hacker Virus Pirate" to come and ram-raid my machine.
Needless to say I gave up and spent £50 buying an old XP machine on Ebay instead.
