    You can also buy just normal disposable co2 cartridges that are a lot cheaper just make sure they have a screw top

    Thanks for the review, I'm trying to find a C02 kit that I don't have to plug in. I don't have anymore plug in space unfortunately.

    Great video, just getting into this myself! FYI CO2 cartridges are about 50 cents each in bulk if you buy them right. $1.00 each if you overspend.

    Hello with the two cylinders that you used on your tank was it effective in helping your plants to grow. I have an all-red planted tank. I got the kit to boost their growth and color.

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  6 місяців тому

      Yes I think it did a bit. My plants were already pretty large when I added it though. What I noticed the most is that I had almost no algae and the plants stayed very healthy. Almost no dead leaves or brown spots compared to without CO2

    Just got it today. I did pop a tube. But I didn't notice that thing had an in and out and put it the wrong way 😂. Hopefully it works well for the plants. Seems good tho so far now 👍

    The diffuser for the co2 defiantly isn't that bad, but there is many better glass ones you can buy. Love the tank btw, new subscriber

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the sub! Yeah after trying this kit I'm definitely hooked on CO2 for how well the plants did. I'll have to upgrade the diffuser at some point. I am looking at the UNS Mini Regulator since it comes with a solenoid for my next upgrade.

    i bought this and im fixing to make an adapter that will fit this on to a 20oz paintball canister. you could use them if you can find the ones with their own valve on the bottle.. not all have them.. this way you can leak the bottle pressure to a point that little regulator could handle it.. but still would be a balancing act with no safeguard to disaster as the system already is

    I always feel like when people don't know how to hook something up or don't hook it up right they blame the product.

    Hi thanks for the video, How long this cylinder last if we use 1 bubble/second?

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  2 роки тому +1

      You're welcome. For 1 bubble per 2 seconds at about 6 hours per day it lasted me about a month and a half.
      I would guess it would last about 3-4 weeks running it for 6 hours a day at 1 bubble per second.

  • @drhay5367
    @drhay5367 2 роки тому +1

    You would put the solenoid between the canister and the bubble counter, so that you can leave the canister on at the right setting, and the solenoid only lets the co2 through at the time you want it (when your lights are on, for example). Then you don't have to fiddle with the amount of co2 coming out of the canister all the time, every morning. (I haven't done that with this kit, just saying theoretically).

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  2 роки тому

      Yeah ideally if I get a new CO2 kit I want one that either comes with a solenoid or supports one. I could be wrong but I don't think one will work with this kit. It would still dispense CO2 and just pop off the airline tubing attached to the solenoid. I could be wrong but if you end up trying an are successful I'd love to know and what solenoid you went with.

    • @onlywei
      @onlywei Рік тому

      @@TheAquaticCoder that’s right. There’s no regulator in this kit so the amount of pressure going into the solenoid is about 8x higher than any solenoid on the market can handle.

  • @hortopiro
    @hortopiro 7 місяців тому

    Wh does mine stop after maybe 13 minutes? I don’t even close it, and it’s definitely not out of co2 either?? Is there something wrong with the regulator?

  • @ballistic350
    @ballistic350 2 роки тому +1

    So it sounds like it's not necessary if you got a small tank? Or using plants that don't require it? .. im gonna bypass co2 kit to see .. im planning on using hardy plants im a newbie too..

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  2 роки тому

      You are correct. Most easy/beginner plants don't need CO2. I'd suggest trying plants without it first and then eventually you can try it if you wish to help growth.

    Lost count of the amount of times I've popped the tubing off, split the tubing or even blown the ceramic out of a difuser (not the one supplied).
    I recently contacted Fluval and they say I have a faulty one. Unfortunately it is out of warranty.

    bad thing is that water goes into the tube so it can explode or detach if the pressure is released too much too quickly plus the tube that came with it is pretty cheap quality best change it.
    red alert: inflation....

    • @TheAquaticCoder

    I had this but the 95g for about 8 months its a piece of crap the cartridges are expensive and not economical it'd last 2 weeks and 20 bucks every time. I caved bought a regulator 50 bucks on Amazon tunings cheap and a better diffuser isn't too bad but the co2 tank can be found on offer up pretty cheap I got a 20lb for 100. Just invest its way worth it ps I only have to fill 20lb tank once very 8 months for 20 bucks

    • @C45697

      @TheAquaticCoder  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah I've recently moved on to the UNS Mini Regulator. I agree with your review. Overall this was a good product to test out CO2 but overall anyone will either want a different piece of equipment or jist give up on CO2 altogether

      @@TheAquaticCoder I hope people don't give up I didn't go on offer up and get a actual co2 tank 5lb tank will last a long while I have a 20 now and have used 20psi and have had it for months its gonna take a good while for 20 bucks sure costs more now but 20 bucks every year or year and a half is better this isn't a cheap hobby but you can make it cheap with offer up or facebook marketplace

    Why are you running the CO2 as the same as your air stone?

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  2 роки тому +1

      I didn't realize that this made the CO2 less effective. I probably should run them at opposite times or at least have the airstone farther away. This tank isn't running anymore but I'll keep that in mind for the future.

  • @johnnyzen4282

    2 years later and this system still sucks. I bought a small tank for my girlfriend's daughter and thought this might be a good way to introduce her to co2 and how planted aquariums work, stupid choice. I don't know how people get these things to output the correct amount but I spent literally 2 hours trying to get a decent bubble per sec ratio going and had no luck. Either 1 bubble every 5 seconds or 10 bubbles per second. Luckily I switched out the cheap hosing they give you or I probably would've popped the bubble counter the first time I opened the valve.
    Don't waste your money on this, get a bio-reactor or something.

    Just spend $80 and get a cheap Chinese made canister kit. This fluval is garbage! With Chinese canister you get solenoid, drop checker, and diffuser with thick tubing.. get a smart timer…. just get citric acid and baking soda and you’ll have consistent and thick co2 for 2 or 3 months solid. Go 1.3/1 ratio mix and you’ll get max co2 from the ingredients.. cheers
