    My wife and I managed ~69% savings rate over the last 9 years. It started at a very low percentage and grew each year as we got better at being frugal.

    Steps to FI are very simple! 1. Save more than you spend 2. Invest. The steps are simple but putting it into practice is not!

    Great video Gabe! My family of 5 had a savings rate of 40% on 1 average income. That allowed me to quit my job to work on my UA-cam channel. It’s doable for anyone if you really want freedom!

    On a mortgage all of the interest is "loaded" up front - so you are paying only interest and no principle at the beginning of a loan. There is a wiki page titled "Weighted-average life" which explains the concept. On that page they show an example of a 30 year mortgage at 4% has a weighted-average life of 17.97 years. So if you are past year 18 of a 30 year mortgage you have paid all of the interest so it makes no sense to pay off the mortgage early.

    I agree with doing things to be able to retire early and to invest your money to create passive income. And of course it isn't about so much about what you're making as to what you do with what you make. But it's also a COMPLETELY different ballgame when you are trying to support a big family like what I have. I am married with five children. I'm not a young single person only taking care of myself. It's not something that is as simple as doing something on your own.
    With that said, it is still very possible to save and invest and retire at a young age as well. It is something that I hope to be able to achieve, especially with having a big family

    Hi Gabe!
    Do you happen to use any calculators or budget sheets? How do you keep track of all that? I am curious what you use. The saving part isn't the hard part, its just tracking it and having an idea where I am headed to. Anything you can point to will totally help!

    Where do I invest the money I am saving?

    • @GabeBult
      @GabeBult  5 років тому

      That really depends on where your end goals are. If I'm saving up for a big investment or real estate I keep it in a high interest saving account
