My wife had a 2005 FWD. With good tires, it never got stuck in Michigan snows. Best of all it was RELIABLE we put 225k with only normal maintenance. My daughter STILL drives it with 265k and still going strong. She made several trips from Mich to NY, and just last week from Mich to Eastern PA. No problems. Very good quality, reliability, and wonderful for highway trips. Highly recommend one
Ed Grigsby-Just an FYI-I had a 2005 like yours.Keep a close eye on the rear axle beam.Mine rusted out bad,as I live in Maine.Luckily I caught it before it could break.Other than that the car was great!
Found a Freestyle with only 50k miles. Have had it a couple of weeks now. But needs work in the undercarriage these vehicles rust badly. Have to change the front subframe. Everything else is in tact.
Love this car! Had mine for almost two years and bought it myself! I did have to replace away bar links and rotors but nothing major at all, I do have almost 115,000 after all. Love, love, love this car!
I love my Freestyle. Share Volvo structure and mechanisms. It got very good highway gas mileage, with the CVT transmission. AWD highway 29.5mpg possible over 30 mpg! Ford's best kept secret!
I bought a 2005 Freestyle in 2013, and have driven it for 5 years now. This is a great vehicle, and I have really enjoyed driving it. However, it has just started having problems.....preparing to take it in for service. Transmission problems seem to be the common issue with this vehicle, from what I have read.
The CVT was a new thing when it came out in the 500, Freestyle, & Mercury Montego. The CVT should've been an optional thing, but become standard if successful. This CVT was a flop. They should've made the 6-speed standard from the start.
I own one myself! It's already got 161,000 miles on it and I'm able to sit in it without bumping my head in the doorway like in the little puny compact cars!
Not Volvo engine and transmission, it's the chassis/suspension that was Volvo-based. The engine is a Duratec 3.0L V6 designed by Ford, and the CVT is made by ZF (he 6-speed automatic is made by Aisin).
If you go to 1:30 then mute the volume off, it looks like this guy in the car cant stay still and is on speed or meth LOL. it goes for about 15-20 seconds of him just fiddling around nonstop its kinda funny.
Same here my mom has this car it only got stuck once and that was in the middle of a blizzard belt, she has 112k miles on it i never had to replace anything on it and she floors it and slams on the brakes and we pulled a 3,500 lb. trailer from pittsburgh to Daytona
@@SomewhereinMexicoRacing considering getting one. My mom had it she got it at an auction. I’m looking at 2 2005 ones, both are AWD SE models. One is only $1200, but has 191k miles, the other is $3000 has 144k miles and seems to be in better condition.
@@omt4293 I would recommend a 2005 Ford Taurus Wagon instead. You can get them with the front split bench seating and column shifter as well as rear window facing seats. For a total of 8 people in a Stationwagon.
No this ford freestyle is the worst car you can get search 2005 2006 or 2007 any years that u want for ex-: 2006 ford freestyle carcomplaints.com btw this car has throttle body issues transmission issues and brake issues all the above
love this tank. My mom owns the unlimited AWD version. Never got stock before. The car will go anywhere you want it to. Mine only has about 75,000 miles on it. If she'd let me I would put a lift kit on this bad boy lol.
Love this CAR.. We have a 07 SEL... 145.000 plus no major issues. ..only a flex pipe and motor mount and basic maintenance... Taught two kids how to drive with her. Ford missed the boat with this car.. Poor marketing....its a shame the Flex might meet the same fate!
I would have to respectfully disagree with the classification of a vehicle like this. I've never liked the term "crossover", what's it supposed to crossing over to? It looks more like a station wagon than SUV. I find it more attractive to look at than either the Taurus X, or even the Flex that replaced either vehicle.
To resolve the fuel economy complaints from EcoBoost 4-cylinder engines, Ford should have used CVT with longer gear ratios. Conventional automatic transmissions have shift shocks, which reduces fuel economy and performance. The CVT could have been used in the soon to have EcoBoost 1.0 Liter engine Fiesta, Fusion, and Escape. The Focus does not have an EcoBoost, except the ST, which is paired with the manual transmission.
I'll never get a car with this transmission again! My freestyle's 3rd transmission went out. Just bought a '91 Dodge Caravan with 335,000 with original engine/transfer case, yet it has a lot of rust and has lost a lot of paint, but it's still going!
They didn't build them with a turbo unless it was put on it aftermarket and that would of been very expensive due the the setup in the engine compartment and having to tune the block to handle the new configuration. Would be a waste of money. Besides the Transmissions wasn't built to handle much more than what the engine was designed for.

I agree
Agreed! I absolutely loved mine!
I loved my Ford Freestyle!
I recently obtained an 06 Freestyle so far no complaints, has the power I need and the room I need as well, maneuvers well and feels good inside.

Thanks for the video! I got a Freestyle AWD and love it!
Learned to drive with the car! Love it..goes anywhere you take it. My mom has the limited AWD. And it only has 60,000 miles on it!
I love my Freestyle. Share Volvo structure and mechanisms. It got very good highway gas mileage, with the CVT transmission. AWD highway 29.5mpg possible over 30 mpg! Ford's best kept secret!
CHIUPHGUTUBE how long did thgat make this freestyle
Just to let everyone know, The FORD TAURUS X was the FORD FREESTYLE, they changed the name and redesigned a bit like the 3 bar grill.
For some reason, I like the Freestyle better. Yea I know it is more bland but I like the big head lights and big grill

I'm looking at this as a 1 year temporary car
That’s what mine was. Transmission started slipping and I needed a reliable fuel efficient ride to get to work.
If you go to 1:30 then mute the volume off, it looks like this guy in the car cant stay still and is on speed or meth LOL. it goes for about 15-20 seconds of him just fiddling around nonstop its kinda funny.
that was a very fun activity. thank you
Ha ha ha ... Sure
No never! Perfect so far!
Love this car they shouldve never changed it. The Taurus X was overdone didnt like the new look.Too bad it was discontinued

This is a replacement for the country squire.
So basically this is just a ford five-hundred in the SUV version.
It’s actually a decent suv I just bought one with 120k for 3200

Yeah wasnt making fun of it. It’s like the taurus wagons in a way.

this is a rlly good car its a freestyle combined with SUV caravan and a wagon which makes it pricey

Can anybody yell me why u don't hear it shift or why it seems hard to get it to get up and go. Is this because of the cvt transmission?
Cory Hathorn You won't hear the CVT transmission shift. That is how they are made.
Should had a transmission with gears...
Was this competing against the dodge Magnum
No, the Pacifica.
that this car was named a "Taurus" and given that horrible 3 bar chrome grille sucked. It was better this way, with the Freestyle name.
No? It is great, you are always in the powerband.
I love mine
Is this a crossover or a wagon
It’s a mix of both

The Freestyle is the exact same thing as the Taurus X
I really like this it looks like an SUV and handles like a car in the corners.

so it never shits?

Bleh. Boring crossover. Sad they replaced the Taurus wagon with this ugly thing.
i dont like that......
