I would definitely go with "Sweet Talkin' Woman" for your next ELO song. If you want an upbeat ELO song that's well-known and isn't disco, it about has to be either that or "Do Ya". "Can't Get It Out of My Head" and "Strange Magic" are good songs, but they're slower.

Jeff Lynne (ELO) is the true master of Rock and Pop music. From 1972 to 1986 (14 years) ELO accumulated more combined UK and US Top 40 hits than any other band in the world, and also generated the third most UK and US separate Top 40 hits. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Light_Orchestra_discography

This was one of the most played songs in 1979. To say it was everywhere and played constantly all day is likely an uderstatement. I always felt that it was designed for roller skating which was HUGE at the time. Mr. Blue Sky: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra (also known as Mr. Blue Sky) is an album of re-recordings by Jeff Lynne of hits by Electric Light Orchestra. It was issued in 2012 by Frontiers simultaneously with Lynne's cover album Long Wave. On the version we just heard its the original Jeff Lynne - vocals, guitar, piano, synthesizer[6]
      Bev Bevan - drums, percussion[6]
Richard Tandy - grand piano, synthesizer, electric piano, clavinet[6]
      Kelly Groucutt - bass, vocals[6]version

Some facts about Jeff Lynne (ELO)...First, he is a very humble man, simply because this Music Genius is not interested in fame, the limelight, and money, he just loves to create great music. Jeff Lynne is one of the most versatile musicians ever, this is why he is considered by his peers to be among the greatest. He didn't stick to one style of music because, after decades, it gets boring. Jeff has done progressive Rock, Symphonic Rock - Pop, New wave, and Disco.
Everything he does turns to gold. He even flirted with Country music. From 1972 to 1986 (During 14 years) Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra has had more top 40 hits than any other group in the world... 51 years later they still play in sold-out Arenas, festivals and Stadiums. During Jeff Lynne's ELO 2019 Tour, many reviews agreed in saying they are the best live Classic Rock Band in the world still touring and Jeff Lynne is a Music Genius( From Forbes Magazine and the Washington Post).
ELO is in the Rock Hall of Fame. Lynne is on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham Walk OF Fame. Jeff Lynne’s ELO won the Best Classic Rock Band plus Lynne won the best Songwriter award ( ASCAP ) in 2019 for his fantastic contribution over the years. In October of 2020, Jeff Lynne has been made an officer of The Order Of The British Empire for his extraordinary contribution to music. He previously has received three Ivor Novello Awards, which celebrate songwriters and composers, including the award for outstanding services to British music.
He created the best Super Group of all time with his best friend George Harrison, The Traveling Wilburys. The Legends in the Music Industry call Jeff Lynne the best overall Musician ever and a Producer Extraordinaire. Jeff Lynne has written and produced many hit songs for music legends like George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Del Shannon, the Everly Brothers, The Beatles, and so many others...

Fun fact: Jeff Lynne wanted a 'banger' for the album, so he sent the band out to play football. He then took a loop of drums from another track and laid down piano's and guitars. When he had the tune, he called them back in to record it and wrote the lyrics on the fly. The word Gross was later changed to Bruce when he sings it live, because that what's the crowd sang, so he figured he'd join in with them.

Summer and Lightning, Midnight Blue, Across the Border, Wild West Hero, Last Train to London, Jungle, Rockería and Calling America should be a short playlist and then ask yourself, "What style CAN'T he do?" Andy, you were on the right track when you said this song was made for moving - this was tremendously popular at the skating rink! 🛼🛼 When you’re grooving to this, those extra verses don’t matter.
