You’re so welcome, Janeva! Bahrain is awesome so don’t worry! Just beware July is 🔥 🥵🤣 I hope you love it as much as I did. If you have any other q’s, just let me know. Happy to help. Safe travels and best of luck!

Hello! I am an Indian expat in Bahrain. Sorry to hear about your experience with some Indian men here, unfortunately it is common for Indians to stare at people who look different because they don't know anything else. Not all of us are like that it is just people who don't know how to mind their own business. Happy to hear you enjoyed living in Bahrain though. God bless!
नमस्ते! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. I totally understand and definitely didn’t mean to offend, just giving my experience. And actually, after leaving Bahrain, I moved to Delhi for 14 months. My experience in India was amazing! I fell in love with the country and its people, so much so that I started to taking classes to learn Hindi. This is why travel is so important because, as you said, not everyone is the same, nor should we all be judge as such. ☺️ I hope you’re keeping cool in Bahrain! 🥵😅 Stay safe and God bless you too. 🙏🏽🇧🇭 🇮🇳

Pekitta, thank you so much for the feed back and for watching! I grew up in Bahrain I landed on the 17th of August 1970 aged 10 my dad worked on the oil rigs and I married a Bahraini and we had 2 children, I am now living back in the U.K. and now in my 60s I look back and see how Bahrain has changed over the years.
Wow, incredible story! Thank you for sharing! Yes, I can imagine it’s change quite a bit since then. Everywhere you look, there are towers under construction so it’s still growing. ☺️
I found your channel yesterday, very nice and you are very well traveled. I will be moving to Bahrain in the coming months and was glad to see your channel. There is not much content on that nation and the other bloggers I have found have been a little difficult to follow as English is not their primary language. I hope your channel continues to grow and you continue to vlog as long as it brings you joy. Do what you love and success will follow!
Good day, Adventures of Neric. Wow, thank you so much for those kinds words of encouragement and for the feedback. I greatly appreciate more than I could express. 🙏🏽 I’m glad that you found my video to be resourceful in anticipation of your move to Bahrain. As I stated in the video, I really enjoyed my time while living there and I’m sure you will as well. Best of luck to you and please keep safe. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hi! Yes, I definitely can relate. I mean no place is perfect but at least overseas there’s a bit of a privilege by being a foreigner, especially as a American. It’s a nice break. Lol
Incredibly thorough video! Super helpful! I've always loved the idea of moving to Bahrain. As a Muslim who grew up in the US, it seems like the perfect balance of diversity + progressiveness + religion for me! Maybe one day:)
Thank you so much for watching, Dobby! Even for a non-Muslim and a black person like myself, I loved Bahrain so much so I can totally understand why you might find it as a great place to live, especially for all the reasons you mentioned. ☺️ It quickly felt like a great place to call home and I’m so grateful to the Bahraini people for their hospitality. 🇧🇭💞
@diorocks5858 I’d definitely love to return to Bahrain someday and visit some of the gulf nations that I didn’t get the chance to visit while living there. I really enjoyed the UAE, but have heard wonderful things about Oman and Qatar. 🙌🏽
I'm planning to move to Bahrain after this Pandemic issue and your video was the most effective, energetic, even with the cons, you really helped me getting a clear idea, I used to live in Dubai witch I loved and was affraid Bahrain wasn't so easy going as Dubai. Thanks and stay safe.
Hello, Sanah! First, you have such a beautiful name. ☺️ Secondly, Thank you so much for watching! 🙏🏽 I totally get why you might be a bit apprehensive about moving to Bahrain after living in Dubai. Dubai is an incredible city. By comparison, Bahrain is tamed but still an awesome place to live! No need to worry. ☺️Also, doesn’t hurt that Dubai is only a 45 minute flight away either. 😄 Best of luck with your move! Stay safe as well.
Hi! I am a Pakistani-American woman who is thinking about moving to Bahrain. I travelled there 2 years ago and overall, it was an amazing experience. Thanks for providing your insight it was very helpful!
Hello, Safiyyah! Thank you very much for your kind feedback and for watching! I think you’ll enjoy Bahrain, as I very much did during my time there. There’s also a healthy population of Pakistani’s who live there, which is the coolest thing about Bahrain - it’s super diverse! I have no doubt you’ll assimilate quickly and well. Best of luck to you and safe travels!! 🇧🇭❤️
Hello 👋 What I can tell you is that I felt safe during my time living there; however, no place is exempt from bad people doing bad things, unfortunately. Of course, I’ve heard stories of mistreatment of immigrants, especially women. I’ve spoken to migrant workers in Bahrain who’ve had their passports taken once they arrive, not being paid for months, forced to work every day and to live in terrible, crowded conditions with other workers; women working as caregivers or cleaning staff, raped or molested by their employers. There’s a likelihood for people who are vulnerable or in precarious situations to be taken advantaged of. That goes for any country around the world, including my own country, the US. I loved my time in Bahrain. It’s a wonderful place to live; however, I fully acknowledge that, as an American expat, my experience was quite different and privileged from persons coming from other developing countries. It’s horrible because every human life is precious but, regrettably, that is the reality. So, please be careful and protect yourself always no matter where you go. No amount of money worth is worth your life or dignity. 🙏🏽
at 30:00 you missed batelco which is actually the first and i think the only company that is located only in bahrain, viva and zain are used in other countries but batelco is only used in bahrain. also, around almost 1 year ago, they changed the viva company's name to STC
Ali, Thank You so much for that correction. The most updated info is always helpful so I appreciate the feedback. 🙏🏽 Thank You for watching and have a safe and happy holidays. ☺️
Loved your perspective! Wouldnt be shy to express myself in your position - very rational and fair! Coming from a local - so many videos feel uninformed but this was honesty that's easy to appreciate!
Good day, Momin! 👋🏽 Thank you so much for watching and for your kind feedback. I loved my time in Bahrain so I’m happy to hear that you’re pleased with my personal review of my time there. 🙏🏽
Hello! Well, as I’m sure you’re aware, each country has different requirements, so I highly recommend visiting either your respective Secretary or Ministry of State’s website or the Bahraini Ministry of State/Foreign Affairs’ site for more info; however, if you’re American, you can obtain an e-visa from the Bahraini govt website or obtain a 2-week tourist visa upon arrival. Thanks for watching! Hope this helps!
🙌🏿 I’m leaving in a couple of months to work on the base and even though I’m a year later from this video, I am truly appreciative for posting this, especially as a single woman going solo. Thank you so much for taking the time to share and help us out with such a big transition!

Bahraini Viewer here. Firstly thanks Sade for the informative video and for being very respectful. I'm glad you were treated kindly in Bahrain. Your video is great and very helpful for expats who's coming from the US or EU to live in Bahrain. Just few things to point out: 1) Yes, the tension isn't really about the Islamic sector per say, its more political as people marry between sects and have no problem. So it's very political. 2) This is the first time to even hear or know about these brunches LOL 3) Living cost in BH is VERY EXPENSIVE especially in the Seef/Adliya area. The amount that you had paid is very reasonable especially for a fully furnished apartment. 4) Expats from the US and EU are paid double if not triple the salary of a Bahraini. Which averages as low as 500 -600BD if not less. Expats from third countries (Sadly) get way less and are forced to work overtime (60-200) with no (to little) compensation. That's why the the rate of unemployment for Bahrainis is very high as employers want to get cheap expat labors who will work extra hours as most are scared to even speak! Some don't even get paid for months!! 5) Men in Bahrain do stare a lot no matter what you are wearing. You can wear a full abaya and get stared at aggressively. It makes any woman uncomfortable. 6) As for the black hair products. There are lots of insta stores selling curly hair friendly products such as shea moisture, Cantu, etc. It's a fairly new market but it's growing. Prices are a bit more expensive that getting them in the US but with the amazon shipping prices to BH, I'd rather pay extra few dinars.
Hello and Happy New Year! 👋🏽 Thank you so much on your feedback. I couldn’t agree more with all the points you’ve made - spot on. 👍🏽 Regarding immigrant workers, I’m aware and absolutely have opinions on how they’re largely treated and how it adversely affects local Bahraini’s in need of well paid jobs and benefits. Honestly, an entire docu-series could be done on these discussions 😆 I chose not to discuss it with much depth bc I didn’t feel my comments would do the immigrant experience service, especially from the perspective of a privileged expat. Your last point about the black hair care products is fantastic news and great feedback for other foreigners potentially moving to Bahrain. Thank you so much for sharing! And thank you for joining in on the conversation, especially from the perspective of a Bahraini. Bahrain quickly felt like home and am so thankful to the country for making me feel welcomed. I’m sure your feedback will help others, so thank you. 🙏🏽☺️
Honestly I feel most of the men who stare are Saudis, when my friends and I are out and we have Saudi friends with us, we kind of get annoyed when they start staring at women so much, the Bahraini's I'm with usually don't stare. But I'm sorry that you experience that!
Hello! Thanks for also sharing your experience. Yes, I don’t doubt that it could also be the case. I think regardless of where we are in the world, staring at someone you don’t know is just weird and super uncomfortable 😆 I’m also sorry you had to go thru that. I’d also agree that I’ve found the Bahraini men more respectful in that regard. Stay safe out there!!
Hi, Deborah! Thanks so much for the kind feedback and for watching. You’ll love Bahrain. Hopefully, you’ll be moving after September to avoid the brutal summer heat hehe! Feel free to ask away and I’m happy to try and answer what I can. 😊🙏🏽
Oh i am British I lived in beautiful Bahrain for over 20 years its amazing safe and chilled, You can dress what you want at the beach or at the club but be a little conservative during the daytime as they take pride in cleanliness and style.
🤣🙌🏽 Thanks so much for watching, Tia, and for the kind feedback! 🙏🏽 Bahrain is chill and nice place to live. Very westernized in a lot of ways so it should be an easy adjustment. If you have any other questions about something I may not have covered, feel free to ask away. Best of luck to you and your family and safe travels!
Thank you for your helpful video! Great job, very balanced and informative. I also appreciate your female perspective. We are considering relocating there with our family of 3 kids. Do you have any comments for families, ie things to do, friendliness towards children?
Hello, Shannon! Thank you for your kind feedback and for watching! You and your family will love Bahrain. It’s very family-friendly and safe. As a matter of fact, when you venture out, you’ll mostly see families doing activities together, grabbing ice cream, or having dinner, etc. Bahrain is a small island, however, so depending on your duration living there, you may run out of things to keep the kids entertained hehe! There’s an indoor water park and arcade at the City Center Mall, camel feeding (although I wouldn’t recommend this if you have sensitivities to engaged and chain animals, which I tend to 😔), there are tons of water sports (although not many public beaches; I’d recommend buying a hotel day pass for access to the private pool and beach). Lastly, often, there will be themed markets and festivals (food festivals, etc.) Once you run out of things to do, thankfully, it’s affordable to fly to Europe and Asia from Bahrain. 😄 Safe travels to you and your family! Hope this is helpful. ☺️ feel free to ask away any other questions you may have.
@@illustratedbySade glad to hear that , you’re always welcome here ! And if you need anything or need places to go you can always ask me right away ! 🖤
Hi dear, could you give the details of the volunteer program you were at ? I'm moving to Bahrain and would like to help as well ! Thank you for your video and I hope que you upload more videos 🥰🥰
Hello, Fragola! Thanks so much for watching and for the kind feedback. 🙏🏽 I volunteered with a non profit called AEPCO, which is overseen by a member of the royal family, a Sheika, and she’s awesome. It’s been a few years since I’ve left but if the organization is still doing it’s good work, I highly recommend you join their initiatives. Safe travels to you!!
Excellent video! Abu Dhabi has the same hotel brunch culture and it’s indeterminate if the goal is to cater to the expats, a tourist trap, or legitimately part of Arabic culture.
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind feedback! Yes, I also was uncertain about the “brunch culture,” but we definitely enjoyed ourselves when we participated. 😆 I’ll have to try a good brunch in the UAE, if and when I return! 👌🏽
No way!! Totally missed it - that’s great! Thank you so much for sharing so fellow female expats and travelers in the comments section will know for future reference. 🙏🏽🙏🏽☺️☺️
Hi! First, congrats! 🎉 TBH, I’m not familiar with the process for child birth in Bahrain. I do know other spouses who had babies during their deployment. There isn’t a base hospital so I presume you will be sent on the local economy. I will say, I tore my shoulder rotater cuff and had to get auth to seek treatment at the hospital and physical therapy. The hospitals are on par to what you’d expect in the U.S., maybe even better 😅. Very clean, great customer service, skilled and competent doctors and staff. I wouldn’t be concerned at all about getting superior treatment in Bahrain and a having a safe and healthy delivery. I would reach out to what will be your OCONOS insurance to confirm the process and to prepare. Maybe also reach out to the base med clinic as well. Sorry this isn’t extremely helpful but please have no fear or worry. You will be in great hands. 😊
I wanted to migrate to Bahrain that why I was checking about experiences, but my problem I don’t have a single relative or a frnd 😭 I don’t know what to start doing or where to start pls pray for me, for the best
Hello Youssef! 👋🏽 Awesome! You’ll love Bahrain 🇧🇭❤️ Amwaj is also a beautiful neighborhood to live. Hopefully, this video will be helpful. ☺️ Thank you for watching!
I don’t know if any particular cycling tracks, as Bahrain isn’t the most pedestrian friendly. However, you can totally bike around Amwaj on the road and just stay off to the side. Traffic isn’t too bad on the islands, so it could be done safely. There are a few walking paths around small ponds on the island where people go walking or jogging but not sure if it would be that enjoyable to bike.
❤I loved your video, thank you. I have a question: If I, as a woman, travel to Bahrain to visit my boyfriend who lives there, will I have any problem staying at his house even if we are not married?
Hi, there! Thanks for watching and for your kind feedback! 🙏🏽😊 You’ll find that Bahrain is more progressive than Saudi, so the answer is no issues at all. I’d see young couples out enjoying their evening at cafes or the movies. Women do dress more conservatively and you won’t really see people showing PDA but for the most part, people mind their business like they would in any other place. As long as you don’t plan on having a baby while unmarried, visiting your bf should be no problem hehe! You’ll love Bahrain. It’s chill and super safe. They have incredible restaurants, a few bars/night clubs, and lots of malls for shopping. More foreigners live there than local people, so it’s quite diverse. Most people speak English. It’s great and you’ll have an amazing time. ☺️🙌🏽
Thanks so much for the kind feedback and for watching! To answer your question, Bahrain’s population is mostly that of immigrants from all over the world, so in that sense, I’d say it’s probably not too difficult to find a job there. However, I cannot speak to the difficulties of the visa process in doing so because my husband was stationed there through the US military. In this regard, I probably not the most informed person on the subject.
Hello, Anuoluwapo! 👋🏽 thanks for the question and for watching. It’s a great question and one I wish I had a better answer to. My husband and I don’t have children, so we’re clueless in this area. 😅 However, I do know that there are several international schools, as there are many expats living there. For example, the Americans have an international k-12 school but it’s very costly out of pocket ($30k-$40k USD per year roughly). For those traveling under the umbrella of their employer, school is usually covered as a job benefit. I’m sorry I’m unable to give you a better and more detailed answer. 😩 Best of luck with your travels and stay safe!! 🙏🏽
That is a great question that unfortunately I’m unable to give an answer to. If I sent or received mail, it was via the American Navy Base, which works the same as the American postal service. Therefore, I wasn’t charged any import fees or duty. Regarding Amazon shipments on the local economy, unfortunately, I am unsure - sorry!
Hello, Traasia. Thanks for watching and for the question. I suspended my U.S. number a week after landing in Bahrain to give me some time to buy a local SIM. At the time, I had T-Mobile, which offers international data, although, painfully slow. I know other plans like Google have very good international plans, but I’d recommend suspending the line and purchasing a local SIM as it’s much more economical and faster service. Only issue with that is every time you travel outside of Bahrain, you’ll have to buy a local SIM in that respective country. Bahrain airport does offer free WiFi for WhatsApp use or iMessage or FaceTime. Hopefully, that answered your question. Let me know if I can help with any other q’s. Safe travels!
Hello. I will be visiting Bahrain in June. I work from home and will be bringing my work computer. You did not talk about the Wifi. How is the strength of the signals?
Hi Jai Law! Thanks for watching and for the question! WiFi speed and service is great if you intend of purchasing local service. Are you associated with the US military by chance? If so, you can purchase a router/monthly service on base. If not, there’s local providers, like Zain, that also offer good service. Overall, I had no interest issues while in the host country with local service. If you intend on using your US service, like Verizon or T-Mobile, I found the international companies speed slow. I def recommend getting a local service and paying for a VPN service to protect your data, such as Nord VPN. Let me know if that answered your question or if I can help with anything else. :)
Hi! Yes, I need to get back to content creating after this very long break, which is hard to do while work full time and in school. Hello Antonio 👋🏽 Thanks for watching! You are or aren’t moving to Bahrain? If you ever get the opportunity to deploy there, it’s a pretty good post. Tax free zone hehe
In regards to Indians staring, it has less to do with any specific reason other than the fact it's just normal and not considered rude in their culture. Germans are the same way. Edit: Haha I should always finish the video before commenting. Got to the part where you said it's more intense than what you experienced in India. :P
Hi! 👋 Thanks for the feedback and for watching! Yes, that experience was quite unique to my experience in India; however, I loved my time in both countries. Just goes to show how I shouldn’t paint with a broad brush 😅😄🙏🏽☺️
Hello Muna! Thanks so much for watching! To be honest, sadly, I have no details on starting a business in Bahrain. 😔 I was there on a year tourist visa and did not work, so this would be out of my purview. Most expats come under the assumption of already being employed and that employer securing for them a work visa, so outside of that, I wouldn’t be helpful with answering your question. I’m very sorry! Best of luck!
Oh my as a Bahraini I absolutely loved watching this video Sadé!! Mostly because of the amount of respect you showed towards Bahrain and its locals. The video really allowed me to see through the eyes of an expat in Bh which I found very interesting. Like honestly thank you for making this video!! You should definitely come visit Bahrain this year you’ll even get to experience the new airport😁 There are tons of new places where you’ll think that this isn’t even Bahrain. Go paddling in Bahrain Bay until the sunset, the view is spectacular 😩 Coco’s is really one of the best restaurants and I totally agree with you. You should definitely go to Cafe Lilou!! (better than Coco’s) Sending you much love from the kingdom, stay safe!
Salaam, Sarah! Thank you so much for your kind feedback and for watching my video. I meant every word and miss Bahrain dearly. I hope to visit again someday. My only regret was not making more local friends. It can be difficult to get outside of the expat bubble, as you know hehe! Perhaps, if I visit again, I’d have the pleasure to meet your acquaintance! Also, I’m also obsessed with Cafe Lilou! That was definitely my go-to establishment for delicious breakfast! 🙌🏽🥰🙏🏽 There are lots of places and experiences that I didn’t get to do, so a return trip to Bahrain would definitely be in order. 🇧🇭❤️

So if you haven't tried local restaurants, i highly recommend you get out of your comfortable zone and try them.. 1- Eskandron = Best lamb chops in the world.. Not kidding. 2- try the Bahraini Tikka 3- Shawarma! 4- Kabab Sandwitchs Try our traditional rice dishes.. Just watch this i guess lol ua-cam.com/video/ef_wGxNCsbE/v-deo.html Peace ✌🏼
Hello, Ali!! I totally agree with you that Bahrain has some of the best food of any place I’ve traveled. So many selections and great restaurants. Unfortunately, I’m no longer living in Bahrain as of recently. However, thank you for sharing and will def check these places out if I ever return, which I hope that I will someday. ❤️ Please stay safe and thank you so much for watching! 🙏🏽
That’s an excellent question and one unfortunately that I don’t have an answer to. Hmm… let me reach out to my friends living there and see if they know.
Hi Tessa! So I ask a few of my friends if they knew of any churches, and this is what they mentioned: National Evangelical Church; Filipino Congregation; Good News Church; St. Christopher’s Anglican Church; Good Shepard Church; Philadelphia; Father’s House; Word of Life International; Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church; Awali Catholic Church; Church of Christ; 7th Day Adventist; Bible Army International Gospel; St Mary’s Orthodox; Latter Day Saints; and St. Peter’s Jacobite. It’s my understanding that there could also be lots more. Hope these help to start.
Hello, Mustafa. 👋🏽 Actually according to the most recent statistical data, Bahrain’s gender ratio is 161 males per 100 females. So, in fact, there are more males than there are females but that aside, just sharing my experience and how I felt. Everyone, of course, is welcome to their own experiences, interpretations, and/or opinions. Thanks for watching and have a happy holidays! 🙏🏽☺️

All the Gulf my friend is amazing there are no racial or religious tensions. Freedom not like anything Europe can offer...

How r I safia IAM Pakistani n Wana move towards Bahrain kindly is it safe for women working alone n work here
Hello 👋 What I can tell you is that I felt safe during my time living there; however, no place is exempt from bad people doing bad things, unfortunately. 🙏🏽
You did an amazing job covering everything. Thanks!
Thanks so much for the kind feedback!

at 30:00 you missed batelco which is actually the first and i think the only company that is located only in bahrain, viva and zain are used in other countries but batelco is only used in bahrain. also, around almost 1 year ago, they changed the viva company's name to STC

How do one get the visa please

Bahraini Viewer here. Firstly thanks Sade for the informative video and for being very respectful. I'm glad you were treated kindly in Bahrain. Your video is great and very helpful for expats who's coming from the US or EU to live in Bahrain. Just few things to point out:
1) Yes, the tension isn't really about the Islamic sector per say, its more political as people marry between sects and have no problem. So it's very political.
2) This is the first time to even hear or know about these brunches LOL
3) Living cost in BH is VERY EXPENSIVE especially in the Seef/Adliya area.
Regarding immigrant workers, I’m aware and absolutely have opinions on how they’re largely treated and how it adversely affects local Bahraini’s in need of well paid jobs and benefits.
@@illustratedbySade Happy New Year to you too! I'm glad I can be of help
Very well worth the watch! Thank You!

Excellent video! Abu Dhabi has the same hotel brunch culture and it’s indeterminate if the goal is to cater to the expats, a tourist trap, or legitimately part of Arabic culture.

Do you have any connections to give me insight on having a baby in bahrain. I am a us navy wife. That may be a potential situation there.

@@illustratedbySade do you know if there's a special track or something like that for cycling around amwaj Island or anywhere in Bahrain?
I don’t know if any particular cycling tracks, as Bahrain isn’t the most pedestrian friendly. However, you can totally bike around Amwaj on the road and just stay off to the side. Traffic isn’t too bad on the islands, so it could be done safely. There are a few walking paths around small ponds on the island where people go walking or jogging but not sure if it would be that enjoyable to bike.
@@illustratedbySade thank you so much

Greatvid is it easy to find work in Bahrain? As a American
@@illustratedbySade thanks for the information keep posting content on your journey good quality videos

How about schooling for kids
if you shop amazon is here duty and taxes on imports?
That is a great question that unfortunately I’m unable to give an answer to. If I sent or received mail, it was via the American Navy Base, which works the same as the American postal service. Therefore, I wasn’t charged any import fees or duty. Regarding Amazon shipments on the local economy, unfortunately, I am unsure - sorry!
Could you share the name of that organization? The one which helps street dogs?
Hi Laura! @aepcobh Animal and Environment Protection Charity Organization 🐶🐾
what would you say about your phone service while in route to bahrain ? Did you have to get sim cards or use wifi ?
