- Kentucky is a beautiful state, but Red River Gorge stands out above the rest. Huge sandstone cliffs and luscious green forest make it a place to explore whether your a rock climber, a hiker, or a camper. We headed out for a birthday excursion on Mr. Roades' birthday and it was an amazing experience.

when did you all take this trip? The gorge can be popular certain times of the year, and this is a great spot to get.
This was in early May. There were several cars in the parking lot and we passed a few people set up before we found this spot. Looked like there were more potential spots further down the trail. I definitely couldn't complain with where we landed.

There have so many accidents at this place, man that was dangerous sitting on that cliff. Please be careful. Wow
A lot of those accidents happen to people from Ohio as well... which is where I'm originally from. I try to take calculated risks, but I'm glad I didn't end up on the news.
How do I get to this camping spot? Looks awesome? how far from parking
The parking lot is not too far from Slade, KY. It's about 1.5 milles out on the Auxier Ridge Trail. Pretty moderate trail with a spectacular payoff.
What did Adam get for his birthday, except the kiss? ;)

My girl sleeps with earplugs when it's too loud. I can't stand having those in my ears but maybe that's a solution for Adam ;)

We went over labor day. It was in the 90's then. And there were those little black flies everywhere. -_-
