I will see Band Maid live in august, 2023 is a good year, mamamoo and june and then band maid, my favorite rock band. I can actually speak japanese so it was Jrock and Jpop for me which lead to Kpop. Band maid to me is one of the best rock bands in the world. They write their own music and they are insanely talented live. There is an MV for this song, its ok but definitely with Band Maid, live is better. My Favorites are newer, Manners and Influencer, especially this one, it is very new and the MV for this one is worth watching, in sane base playing especially and the vocals are more than normal for them. Also, do find the videos for the live acoustic concert they did. I saw it live so I dont need videos. But they took 14 of their hard rock songs and did them all acoustic. Never even knew you could shred an acoustic guitar. To write these songs and play them so well live is insane, to rewrite them all for an acoustic concert and play them just as well, few have this kind of musical talent.
Official music video..."DAYDREAMING"..... for a slower but GREAT rock ballad. Moratorium, RENNE, for a heavier vibe "ALONE" would be the one to do next because from that point forward they were allowed to write their own songs. Amazing song. Kicks ass.
I did warn you they get better. Much, much better. 'Freedom' is an older song back when the label had them working with writers. Now, they have been unleashed, and are free to go in whatever direction they want. Sometimes 3 different directions in the same song. Everyone will tell you to watch the lives, and they aren't wrong, but don't neglect the music videos. For live recommendations - 'Puzzle' is a favorite, as well as 'Real Existence'. Good review. “Domination” is great in both studio and live versions. Here in the States on their 2023 tour, they opened with “Domination” which was amazing. One live song I forgot to mention is “Onset” an early instrumental that nicely showcases their musical skills.
the best thing about Band Maid Live is the interactions within the group .. if you look closely the girls are always joking and messing with each other.. making faces.. blowing kisses and cheering each other on during the shows ...its great to see a band where the members actually like each other and it shows during their performances ...if you go back and re-watch the concerts there is some pretty funny stuff going on ....
I've got to suggest a Double Feature. First, the Music Video of "Secret My Lips", followed by the Music Video of "Secret Maiko Lips", by Band-Maiko, their "Sister" group. You will not be disappointed.
Thanks! Band-Maid has a pretty cohesive sound, but they take it in different creative directions. It's hard to make recommendations, but it you'd like more of this solid hard rock side, maybe start with YOLO or Secret My Lips (and just keep going forward); if you like a good anthemic ballad, maybe Daydreaming or endless story; acoustic, try Catharsis; pure instrumental, From Now On. More recent cuts that are super fun: Influencer and Unleash!!!!! Oh, and they have a alter ego side project called Band-Maiko that you might enjoy, e.g. the song Gion-Cho.
Another Maidiac joins the club! At 2:52 - MISA, the bassist, Kanami the lead guitarist and composer, and Miku the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band, are playing Hengao - "strange faces" - with Akane the drummer, which is making funny faces to try and put someone off. Akane, of course, laughs along while not missing a beat. It shows the ladies' confidence in each others' abilities that they can fool around like this while all of them slam out note-perfect Rock at full tilt. At 3:43 - MISA the bassist is holding her plectrum in her curled finger so she can produce it and switch from slapping to picking in half a nanosecond - skills! At 4:18 - Akane the drummer hitting two separate beats on her double kick pedals while simultaneously continuing the song melody on her snare, toms and cymbal. At 5: 22 - brief glimpse of Kanami laying down one sweet rolling chord pattern - pure class. THE best live Rock band on Earth. And beyond.

They've been around for 10 years and have a catalog of over 120 songs waiting for you, most of which are great and at least not bad. The next recommendation is about "play" and "choose me" from the same concert. Of course, it doesn't matter what else you choose. I'm waiting for the next BAND-MAID reaction.
what's awesome is, Domination is always the most suggested to new band maid reactors. And while it is a banger and I'm sure its the favorite for plenty of fans, it isn't even in the top 5 for many fans. Its just considered a good place to start lol. My suggestion would be the double song video of manners and blackhole live (it is from an online concert they did during COVID so no fans) I like this video because I think it does an amazing job of showing the contrast in songs these amazing ladies can create. Not to mention they are two of my absolute favorites.
They played an amazing 23 songs in Detroit, last May 24 ! The time just flew by . They were painfully loud and SO full of energy ! It was the chance of a lifetime and everyone left with a smiling face ! See them live when you can...No excuses ! Now, listen to Blooming... and put on a seat belt !
So that was Song 22 from a 23 song set. The energy they have is insane. I saw them live last year in San Diego, and they deliver every time! As for where to go next, honestly just pick anything. The only thing I’d warn against is watching “Secret Maiko Lips” before watching the original version “Secret My Lips” (which may be my favorite song? Hard to say, there are so many good ones). Secret Maiko Lips is a cover performed by Band-Maiko, *a totally different band of women who just happen to look exactly like the women in Band-Maid, except they are dressed as Maiko (apprentice geisha) instead of Maids* (wink wink). But seriously, for an April Fools prank, Band-Maid created these Maiko personas and released an EP as Band-Maiko with covers of their own songs, with traditional instruments added in, and adjusted lyrics that refer to the geisha/Maiko experience (even using the Kansai-Ben dialect of the Kyoto region, where most geisha are from) Anyway, pick anything from their official channel, it’s all good

Listen to the instrumental, ONSET live. Another great instrumental is WITHOUT HOLDING BACK and yet another FROM NOW ON. All those are guaranteed face melters. NO GOD live, that'll have a huge bass solo and yes, it has vocals. You can't go wrong with Band Maid, everything is good. Best rock band on the planet.

I LOVE watching first time reactors to this song! Especially when it gets to the breakdown and it just keeps getting (to quote an 810 year old pigeon) BIGGER and BIGGER VOICE - starting from MISA's solo, through Kanami's lead solo (with MISA continuing to solo through it all), to the duelling Kanami/Miku thrash, to the drum solo...which is the obvious place to take a break, take a breath, relax and get back to the song itself............but nahhhh, instead Kanami blazes away again. Two more great live songs, both from a very recent show in Japan, are their official live videos of No God and Puzzle. NG is more recent, but both songs kick major ass. You can almost pick a song at random with this band. Note: your favorite song will usually be the one you just heard (just a fact) and you may want to buy some pain meds in case your face starts hurting from grinning like a fool.
Okay, you're 2 songs in. Tell me they're not one of the best active rock bands in the world today. Band Maid is one of those groups where you have to listen to each song multiple times. Once to get the full experience and once to focus on what each member is doing. There is so much going on in the arrangement that you miss a lot unless you're really paying attention. Akane will slip in an unexpected drum fill here and there, MISA will sneak in a bass riff from time to time and Kaname is just always shredding on the lead guitar. A heads up: If you ever plan on reacting to their song Secret My Lips, there's 2nd version called Secret Maiko Lips. The 2nd version was released as an April's Fools joke. You'll see when / if you get to it and we'll talk more about it then. My suggestion would be to do both at once, if possible, if you want. Keep up the good work.

My first songs listened to by Band-Maid were also two live videos, Choose Me and Play. Both recommended along with the newer live ones Puzzle and No GOD. Just realize that the newest ones come from a 1/9/23 concert where the audio was taken from the board and so crowd sounds are mostly absent. But it was a great concert, I watched the livestream and bought the Blu-ray when it came out. For MVs Blooming, Dice, and Rinne would do for a start. It's been about 18 months for me since I found them, 18 very happy months. Looking forward to your reactions.
You've only started. You've listened to less than an albums worth (They're releasing their eighth album in 2024). Look up the rest of the videos that you can find. After that though, Listen to anything else they've written and you'll understand more of the reason we love their music the way we do. Their live shows are just the icing on the cake.
For live videos, I'd recommend: Puzzle, No God, and Real Existence. While Band-Maid is best live they do have some great music videos, I'd recommend: Dice, Warning, Blooming, Daydreaming (a ballad), and From Now On (an instrumental). And for bonus tracks, here are some acoustic songs. Sayonakidori (acoustic official live video - This has Miku on lead vocals) and Smile is a live acoustic song that is sometimes hard to find but worth it. Keep up the good work!

There is so much better to come, much much better performances to be seen, Freedom and Domination are the beginner videos ( by no means am I saying those two aren't good) they are the usual first steps to a bandmaid introduction. If you ever hear a song by them you don' like (you won't) just listen to another, they have so many styles up their sleeves it isn't funny. I did warn you they get better. Much, much better. 'Freedom' is an older song back when the label had them working with writers. Now, they have been unleashed, and are free to go in whatever direction they want. Sometimes 3 different directions in the same song.
Everyone will tell you to watch the lives, and they aren't wrong, but don't neglect the music videos. For live recommendations - 'Puzzle' is a favorite, as well as 'Real Existence'. Music videos - 'Blooming', 'RINNE', 'DICE', 'The non-fiction days' & 'Don't you tell ME'
And while that last note rings out about a second later they start their song called Play. That would be a nice followup.
Good review. “Domination” is great in both studio and live versions. Here in the States on their 2023 tour, they opened with “Domination” which was amazing. One live song I forgot to mention is “Onset” an early instrumental that nicely showcases their musical skills.
the best thing about Band Maid Live is the interactions within the group .. if you look closely the girls are always joking and messing with each other.. making faces.. blowing kisses and cheering each other on during the shows ...its great to see a band where the members actually like each other and it shows during their performances ...if you go back and re-watch the concerts there is some pretty funny stuff going on ....

I've got to suggest a Double Feature. First, the Music Video of "Secret My Lips", followed by the Music Video of "Secret Maiko Lips", by Band-Maiko, their "Sister" group.
You will not be disappointed.
Thanks! Band-Maid has a pretty cohesive sound, but they take it in different creative directions. It's hard to make recommendations, but it you'd like more of this solid hard rock side, maybe start with YOLO or Secret My Lips (and just keep going forward); if you like a good anthemic ballad, maybe Daydreaming or endless story; acoustic, try Catharsis; pure instrumental, From Now On. More recent cuts that are super fun: Influencer and Unleash!!!!! Oh, and they have a alter ego side project called Band-Maiko that you might enjoy, e.g. the song Gion-Cho.

Another Maidiac joins the club! At 2:52 - MISA, the bassist, Kanami the lead guitarist and composer, and Miku the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band, are playing Hengao - "strange faces" - with Akane the drummer, which is making funny faces to try and put someone off. Akane, of course, laughs along while not missing a beat. It shows the ladies' confidence in each others' abilities that they can fool around like this while all of them slam out note-perfect Rock at full tilt. At 3:43 - MISA the bassist is holding her plectrum in her curled finger so she can produce it and switch from slapping to picking in half a nanosecond - skills! At 4:18 - Akane the drummer hitting two separate beats on her double kick pedals while simultaneously continuing the song melody on her snare, toms and cymbal. At 5: 22 - brief glimpse of Kanami laying down one sweet rolling chord pattern - pure class. THE best live Rock band on Earth. And beyond.

They've been around for 10 years and have a catalog of over 120 songs waiting for you, most of which are great and at least not bad.
The next recommendation is about "play" and "choose me" from the same concert. Of course, it doesn't matter what else you choose.

what's awesome is, Domination is always the most suggested to new band maid reactors. And while it is a banger and I'm sure its the favorite for plenty of fans, it isn't even in the top 5 for many fans. Its just considered a good place to start lol. My suggestion would be the double song video of manners and blackhole live (it is from an online concert they did during COVID so no fans) I like this video because I think it does an amazing job of showing the contrast in songs these amazing ladies can create. Not to mention they are two of my absolute favorites.
They played an amazing 23 songs in Detroit, last May 24 ! The time just flew by . They were painfully loud and SO full of energy ! It was the chance of a lifetime and everyone left with a smiling face ! See them live when you can...No excuses ! Now, listen to Blooming... and put on a seat belt !
I suggest "Play" live next. It is from this same concert and the song after "Domination" in the setlist. It's even better!
So that was Song 22 from a 23 song set. The energy they have is insane. I saw them live last year in San Diego, and they deliver every time!
As for where to go next, honestly just pick anything. The only thing I’d warn against is watching “Secret Maiko Lips” before watching the original version “Secret My Lips” (which may be my favorite song? Hard to say, there are so many good ones). Secret Maiko Lips is a cover performed by Band-Maiko, *a totally different band of women who just happen to look exactly like the women in Band-Maid, except they are dressed as Maiko (apprentice geisha) instead of Maids* (wink wink).
But seriously, for an April Fools prank, Band-Maid created these Maiko personas and released an EP as Band-Maiko with covers of their own songs, with traditional instruments added in, and adjusted lyrics that refer to the geisha/Maiko experience (even using the Kansai-Ben dialect of the Kyoto region, where most geisha are from)
Anyway, pick anything from their official channel, it’s all good

Listen to the instrumental, ONSET live. Another great instrumental is WITHOUT HOLDING BACK and yet another FROM NOW ON. All those are guaranteed face melters. NO GOD live, that'll have a huge bass solo and yes, it has vocals. You can't go wrong with Band Maid, everything is good. Best rock band on the planet.
The Big 3 from this concert are Freedom, Domination and Play so you should do Play next. It is my favorite of the 3

The majority of their lyrics are written by rhythm guitarist, Miku Kobato, and they are very well written, giving their lead vocalist lots to sing about.
You have just begun to scratch the surface. If you dive into this rabbit hole you will find some real surprises. Band-Maid loves April Fools Day pranks. They do television theme music. They did an Online Christmas concert entirely of acoustic arrangements of their hard rock songs. They were scheduled to play Budokan when the lockdown happened, it was canceled and they did a Valentine's Day Online concert for their fans, introducing a song in appreciation of their fans: "About Us".

I LOVE watching first time reactors to this song! Especially when it gets to the breakdown and it just keeps getting (to quote an 810 year old pigeon) BIGGER and BIGGER VOICE - starting from MISA's solo, through Kanami's lead solo (with MISA continuing to solo through it all), to the duelling Kanami/Miku thrash, to the drum solo...which is the obvious place to take a break, take a breath, relax and get back to the song itself............but nahhhh, instead Kanami blazes away again. You can almost pick a song at random with this band. Okay, you're 2 songs in. Tell me they're not one of the best active rock bands in the world today.
Band Maid is one of those groups where you have to listen to each song multiple times. Once to get the full experience and once to focus on what each member is doing. There is so much going on in the arrangement that you miss a lot unless you're really paying attention. Akane will slip in an unexpected drum fill here and there, MISA will sneak in a bass riff from time to time and Kaname is just always shredding on the lead guitar.
A heads up: If you ever plan on reacting to their song Secret My Lips, there's 2nd version called Secret Maiko Lips. The 2nd version was released as an April's Fools joke. You'll see when / if you get to it and we'll talk more about it then. My suggestion would be to do both at once, if possible, if you want.

My first songs listened to by Band-Maid were also two live videos, Choose Me and Play. Both recommended along with the newer live ones Puzzle and No GOD. Just realize that the newest ones come from a 1/9/23 concert where the audio was taken from the board and so crowd sounds are mostly absent. But it was a great concert, I watched the livestream and bought the Blu-ray when it came out. For MVs Blooming, Dice, and Rinne would do for a start. It's been about 18 months for me since I found them, 18 very happy months. Looking forward to your reactions.

You've only started. You've listened to less than an albums worth (They're releasing their eighth album in 2024). Look up the rest of the videos that you can find. After that though, Listen to anything else they've written and you'll understand more of the reason we love their music the way we do. Their live shows are just the icing on the cake.
For live videos, I'd recommend:
Puzzle, No God, and Real Existence.
While Band-Maid is best live they do have some great music videos, I'd recommend:
Dice, Warning, Blooming, Daydreaming (a ballad), and From Now On (an instrumental).
And for bonus tracks, here are some acoustic songs.
Sayonakidori (acoustic official live video - This has Miku on lead vocals) and Smile is a live acoustic song that is sometimes hard to find but worth it.

There is so much better to come, much much better performances to be seen, Freedom and Domination are the beginner videos ( by no means am I saying those two aren't good) they are the usual first steps to a bandmaid introduction. If you ever hear a song by them you don' like (you won't) just listen to another, they have so many styles up their sleeves it isn't funny.
