When I started listening to Band-Maid and then every song was a banger I had trouble believing it tbh. One artist I had never heard of can't make so many great songs across so many genres of rock and also have the sense of humor to wear maid outfits. It was simply unbelievable. "Are they even playing? Is this a cover of another famous Japanese song? How can one band of tiny women out of Japan make music that perfectly fits me? Of the 100 best songs in the past 20 years, they made at least half of them?" Yes, they're just that amazing.
Even the songs they didn't write are good songs. Part of the reason they are where they are today is that they had good writers. And it was a while before Kanami had a song they would let her release. Sure, I get on the previous labels for holding BAND-MAID back from going international, but one thing they did do was make sure they had good material. You don't get a lot of Meh Song with them and none that are bad. And even their songs that are just good would be a great song for any ordinary band. And now? The song writing team of Kanami & Miku are just a Hit Machine! Right up there with Lennon & McCartney.
Kanami has an amazing sense of composition, everything is just the Goldilocks balance of being just right. And she does that using all the band member's abilities and talent. I'm not going to risk comparing her to other major rock composers, as that way lies madness, but she could be one of the best rock music composers and arrangers out there. If she was doing this work in a market and genre that had wider exposure she would be more widely recognized for sure. She's a national treasure for Japan and Band-Maid fandom.
K-Ross, just a little backstory on the video shoot for "The Non-Fiction Days". The video was shot on a windswept beach in Japan in winter. Japan is on the same latitude as the UK, so you can imagine how cold it was when they shot it. It was brutally cold, especially in the skimpy dresses the Maids wore during the shoot. There are photos of them huddling in full-length insulated coats between scenes. The night-time fires at the end of the video, helped to warm them up a bit. They said that had been the warmest they felt all day. These young women are troopers. They will do anything and suffer anything when it comes to giving their fans and audience what they want and crave. They are the epidemy of professionalism.
Plymouth in southern England is on 50° latitude while the most northern town in Hokkaido island is on 45° latitude. They don't have warm currents like the Gulf Stream to reach that north, so winter in Hokkaido can be harsher then northern Scotland. It was cold, period. They are still Heroes without a made up comparison.

Also MISA's and somebody else's coats got at least singed because they got too close to the flames 😊 "Warning!" mv - really cold and rainy "Shambles" mv - also really cold until the flames were turned on "Influencer" mv - insanely hot
The Non-Fiction Days use to be their go-to closer. When the song ended, the Maids would give Miku her few seconds to say goodbye, bow, and then all quickly walk off stage. The crowd felt like they'd been run over by a speeding freight train of awesomeness. It all felt so good and the fans wanted more! But they were leaving... until next time! Thx, Ross!
K-Ross is very respectful, Jonas, unless you do as i did & call out to him at a Rolling Quartz concert, then he turned his back & i heard the faint words "Away with ye, peasant".😆
"Away with ye, Hobo!" is the wordage I used I believe. Jokes aside - Genuinely didn't hear or see anyone haha. Next time come up to me and say hello. I'm away with the fairies in public. ADHDizzle will do that.
Us fans know this … but there isn’t a bad Bandmaid song out there. If you get their albums and listen to all the songs…you won’t find a bad song. There maybe some songs that you won’t vibe to as much due to personal preference..but the quality is always there in every song. This song is awesome. It’s a song that I don’t see anyone rank as their favorite…but it always seems to be in a fan’s top 10 or top 5 songs. It’s a sneaky one that always seems to emerge in a top place for fans, kind of under the radar. But every time you listen to it…your just reminded of how much of a banger this song is. Great songwriting.
All well said. All the band are fantastic and we owe everything to Miku for making this happen, but thank God for genius that is Kanami. The work she puts in, to everything they do, no wonder she falls asleep, even during one of Miku's Magic Spell Times. She had a bit of a burn out at one of the festivals in the US a couple of years ago, throwing her cap to the floor in the heat. Thanks for reacting.
Just another brilliant song by a brilliant band of brilliant musicians. Imagine syncing this song with a roller coaster ride, that's what I feel when listening to it.
Still my favorite BM song, with all the bangers they have had since. This is really the song that showed us what this band was really not only capable of, but the direction they were going in.
The talent, creativity, dynamics, charisma - this band is so clearly in a league of their own, if they were a sports team they'd be drug tested non stop, what a fcken band Po 👍🍻
I never get bored with great reactions to Band-Maid. I seek them out almost daily for 2.5 years now, because I love them that much…and I love finding people who feel the same way ❤
Part of their consistency is just their work ethic and high standards. I think at one point, Kanami was producing a demo every week. If they release around 12 songs a year, that’s like 40 song ideas a year in the trash.
In a long ago interview she showed a folder full of compositions already completed. When they were commissioned for an anime,Log Horizon, she said that she went to the folder and pulled out music for Different. She said she has a goal of writing about 50 new ones per year. I searched and couldn't find that specific interview, but in this video she references it. Miku and Kanami interview, talking about "Different" single [English subtitles] ua-cam.com/video/3NztdOkoYoo/v-deo.html 1:25.
Annnnd.... This is why we hear so many times, whatever Band-Maid song you are currently listening to, is your favorite Band-Maid song. Until the next one. I could listen to this song on a loop and it would be my favorite, until Rinne, or YOLO, or Daydreaming, or Before Yesterday, or Domination, or About Us, or Endless Story, or Matchless Gum, or Hate?, or Manners/Black Hole, or, or, or, or, or, or. I'm gonna need about a hundred more "or's".
Another great reaction, K-Ross! Don't feel bad about liking every Band Maid song, They really are that good. I stopped being amazed by them a while ago. You just know they are going to be good. In this life only 3 things are certain. Death, taxes and Band Maid is gonna kick ass! I'm 60 and I've never seen a band be so consistently great as these 5 ladies. We don't deserve them, but we are certainly grateful for them.
You're right - "Every Song". An you haven't tried songs without official clips yet. A lot of hidden gems there. "Matchless Gum" - "Awkward" - "Unfair Game" (one of Kanami's longest solo's) - "Yurago" ... The list goes on ... and on.
Nice!. I just had a scroll through your playlist and noticed a severe lack of "Moratorium" That has to be next and there's a live version on Instrumental Maid's channel
Scary part is...they didn't write the song. I'm sure they had their input but they were extremely lucky to have amazing songwriters early in their career.
Thank you for always reacting favorably to BAND-MAID. If you had to find a mediocre song in BAND-MAID, You'd probably look no further than the studio version of "The Dragon Cries". However, due to their ensemble strength, the live performance is quite good😊 Just one piece of advice. In the BAND-MAID reaction video, you can wear any Japanese girls band T-shirts such as BABYMETAL, Lovebites, Nemophila, etc, but it is better to avoid Rolling Quartz. Please be careful as this may cause unnecessary haters and trolls.

A grossly underappreciated early banger.

The Non- Fiction Days was the first Band-Maid song i fell in love with ! Here's to you ladies

This song was their go-to closer for shows for a long time. Left the audience feeling like they've been run over by a train 😎🤘

@@GaryHolloway-810 🤣🤣"Sire, the peasants are revolting!" "Of course they're revolting, that's why they're peasants!"
This will always be my personal favourite era of Band-Maid music.
agreed
Yes she is !! Most reactors don't realize this thank you she's our humble genius
Kanami is a gem. The best.
Just Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things.
Kanami is most definitely a genius.

That little guitar solo was nasty and sick! I absolutely love the vocals. MMISA and Akane are going ape throughout!!

“Love me a Band Maid bridge!”
Well said ❤
At this point, my friend, trying to find a bad Band Maid song is like trying to find gold in a silver mine.
Miku's poofy, curly twintails! 🥰
The Non-Fiction Days is my favorite Band-Maid song followed by Thrill, Real Existence, Freezer and Don’t Let Me Down. Those are my top 5 favorites.
I been play music over 30 years and you not wrong about how good this band i

I couldn't find a Band-Maid playlist...have you done their 'Manners/Black Hole' Live video? Some mind-melting sci-fi awaits if not 😁👌👊👍
Happy Saturday K-Ross. Isn't it ridiculous how many songs they have that are not good, not great but freaking awesome!?
One of their very best songs
U became one of the best BM reactors for me together with Ryan Mear. You summed up everything that I live in BM.
Thank you so much! :D
This is one of my favorite songs from them
The intro,is the outro,i love it when they do that,,i will say it again,no bad songs from our ladies,,great reaction.
One of their shows from years ago they had pyro on stage for this song. It was fun and badass. It's on Band-Maid Prime.
I always imagined this song being played during a thunderstorm! Seriously. And super loud at that too! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
One of their best. Thanks for the reaction!
Love this song. But then love all their songs, they never disappoint, po!
Probably my favourite B-M song not written by the maids.
MISA MISA MISA!!!!!
So much amazing music. They're so good.

Ohnishi is a great song-writer 😎🤘
I'm surprised I don't see Daydreaming Moratorium or Afterlife. Hint Hint
They need to add a little English and rerelease it. I bet it would go over big
No, it´s just fine as it is.
