    Good to know AR comp might be a viable powder in the triple deuce. That caliber will flat spoil you accuracy wise. I have a 788 in glass with a Canjar trigger. It will be the last rifle I ever get rid off. Glass bedding the wood stock really helped as did the trigger. But the fiberglass stock made it truly great. My rifle would absolutely not shoot 50gr Nosler Ballistic tips. The groups made me want to 🤮. I went back to my 73’ loads of Sierra Blitz ( not Blitzking unless they’re the short ones) and 52-53 Sierra bench & match were nearly one hole groups with I4198 Rem cases and Rem 7 1/2 primers. I backed off from close to max quite aways to get the best groups. I usually shoot a fouler on the target then use that for my aim point. Back in the day I used a Lyman All American 10x fine crosshair scope. Late 80’s put a Leupold M8 12x on it and the 10x on my 17 Rem. Not a looker but a great shooter 😂 nice video.

    I run a Savage 12BVSS in .223. I shoot 55 Vmax / Varget combo. It's a 3 shot - 1 hole rifle @ 100 yd. It shoots between 1/2 and 5/8 groups @ 200.

    You stabilized a 55gr TSX in a 1:14 twist .222R?? You are a MAGICIAN!!! How...?? Do you want to share some load data?? I've been trying for years, have an old Sako Vixen, early 60's wonderful rifle, hole-in-hole with lead, but just won't shoot copper! Tried some TSX and got about a YARD spread at 100m - it would not stabilize... now use a 45 gr Fox Hydro Chok bullet, works alright, but would like the Barnes TSX in just 50 gr to work - getting about 2 inch groups with Norma Brass, and it just isn't quite perfection for such a fine caliber!

      First thing is clean as much copper out of yur barrel the barnes are softer copper then the lead bullets i normally soak my barrel . Like run a soaking wet patch with hopes benchrest cleaner and let it sit fer 15 to 20 min. Then dry patch then reapeat until i dont get any blue or purple color on any more patches .

    • @ridgerunneroutdoors2423
      @ridgerunneroutdoors2423  Рік тому +1

      If your rifle will stableize these bullets it will stabilize the barnes 55 tsx. 55 vmax = 0.816" o.a.l , 55 nosler bt = 0.817", 50 nosler bt = 0.792" , 50 vmax = 0.772" now the barnes 55 tsx = 0.798" the 55 vmax & 55 nbt are both longer then the barnes heck the speer 70gr sp is only 0.792" no longer then the 50 nbt stabilization is based on lenth not weight. You probly knew this tho but i do measure all my bullets and make notes on lenth. But sea level also comes into play too im about 1200 to 1500 feet above but wer i hunt is easy fer me to go from 1200 to over 6000 feet the higher elevation will stabilize better.

    • @nielsklingenbergvistisen8555
      @nielsklingenbergvistisen8555 Рік тому +2

      How deep do you seat The bullets? How Much free flight before The lands? And what speeds do you aim for With The 55 gr? I didn`t know about The effect of altitude, we Are at sea lever here.

    • @ridgerunneroutdoors2423
      @ridgerunneroutdoors2423  Рік тому +1

      @@nielsklingenbergvistisen8555 yea being at sea level hurts . C.o.a.l. 2.130 . And i go fer highest fps i can get without high pressures the faster u run it the better it will have a chance to stabilize it.

      I generaly start dead middle of load data and work up in .3 tenths of grain. I beleive it is 23.6 gr. You will like the 222 great caliber i like it better than my 223. The 222 is just so accurate over all yur anschutz should shoot great . Thank you fer watching

    You sound somewhat disappointed with the performance, (at least that's the way it came across to me). Let me tell you from experience, I would be very happy with a 5 shot group like that any day. The .222 Rem. is an inherently accurate cartridge, and my 788 in .222 performs similarly..

    • @ridgerunneroutdoors2423
      @ridgerunneroutdoors2423  3 роки тому +1

      Not disappointed at all i love my 722 in 222 rem i will say most of my accuracy errors are operator error. Dissapointed in me maybe thank you fer watching and commenting. I like yur videos enjoy watching em. The 222 is inherently accurate fer sure im fixing to go to the range with my 45 70 and my 25 06 if i dont get rained out.thank you again sir .

      Well I was a member of the sporting shooters association of Australia in Belmont Queensland and in 2006 a bloke was using 55grain projectiles in his 223 same rate of twist and was getting fliers I asked him do you have a barrel with a faster rate of twist quote yeah I got a 223 with a 1in 8 twist at home,he told me so if using 55 grain projectiles a 1-8 twist will do light to heavy bullets even in a 222

      Beautiful group! My M70 Winchester stacks 5x 50gn vmax into 1/2” all day long. It’s an original 1:14 barrel too. I’m in Australia and have found AR2206H powder to be the most accurate (which is the equivalent of H4895 over your side of the pacific). CCI 400s and seat them .020” off the lands. Great varmint load

      @@ridgerunneroutdoors2423 yah I've got a bunch of 50g zmax I'm gonna try. Funny thing is, my gun is a 1953 rem 722 in .222rem. It was shortened to 22" with an 11° target crown and been bedded. Shoots ok so far. But haven't done any real development yet. I wonder about what kinds of velocity you're getting.

      Mine is still all stock I did take the sights off though I luv this rifle . Not sure on my velocity same load but with imr 8208 xbr is running 3256 fps and with 50 nbt wth 8208 xbr is running 3179 so not sure on the ar comp load I do know that as I shoot all my other rounds I load them back with the ar comp load that's my load from here on out thank you fer the interest the rem 722 is a great rifle
