Thank you for giving us a look at the fatality animations. I've always liked the similar animations in games like Skyrim. Once Chapter 4 releases, I'll have to give it a try. I hope they aren't too hard to activate in the midst of a combat chain.
Glad you enjoyed Sarinia! They're not too hard, you definitely get the feel for them quickly, though the occasional accidental one does happen if you're going a bit too fast
I love the speer and dagger and dual-stuff animation. Would be so cool to get an bow fatality too - headshot and backpush or something like that arrrrrr! XD
I think a bow execution would be good, especially if crossbows get re-added in the future. I'm not sure how used they'd be though, it seems like something most people would generally only do once or twice out of curiosity

Whoa, what was that glowing soul thing at 1:21? edit: ah right, the portal event. Haven't seen it spawn yet, that's why I didn't recognize it. Also, the fatalities look great, they fit right in in the brutal gameplay of CE. I was worried the fatalities might leave you vulnerable to attacks from other mobs, but that's not the case.
I wish we get monsters\beasts finishers too, at least couple of them, (head blow, ground pin), since half of enemy's beasts and undead... we need smth cool with them too
Big fan of this, makes combat feel much more visceral. I do hope it gets extended to players eventually, I'm not a big combat person but in AoC having my beloved character get wrecked by some random NPC with a brutal fatality animation was quite the incentive to git gud, as the kids say. I hope they continue to add more fatalities for variety and extend it to bare hands and whatnot.
Something I've noticed is the physics seems to have gotten an improvement. I may be seeing things but it looks as if enemies will ragdoll with a bit more realistically.
I can't say I've noticed it myself, though I probably don't see enemies ragdoll enough to have a good point of comparison. Some of the ragdolls I got whilst testing these animations were very good, though the slo-mo Spear kill was definitely a quirky one 😂
It would be nice for content creation, it's probably more an abundance of caution but I feel like fatalities can step over the gore line between regular gameplay and otherwise in terms of UA-cam guidelines. I'm sure some other players would also appreciate it, though I'm not sure if it's something they'd do, given it's very much in the spirit of Conan to have gore enabled
@@Eradicati0nn True, I agree with you on how gore is in the spirit of Conan, but I'd counter that Nudity is just as much of a staple of the Conan feel. Plenty of people use that toggle though. It was gory before but tolerable, almost comedic, now it's a bit too "gore porn" like, imo. No issues if people want it, just I personally would like something like a toggle available, just like the people who prefer to not see nudity. Either way, thanks for showcasing it.
It'll definitely get there for sure, as long as updates keep coming and they reduce the bugs. I feel like the game has got more popular since I started in 2019, though the only public numbers people have are the steam numbers, which is definitely a minority amongst the overall player base
I don't have testlive installed so I can't say from experience but from your video there does seems to be something off about the way the blood scatters on the ground. Also, I'm not sure if I prefer this system that leaves the player in control of the camera or not. It makes sense for a multiplayer game like Conan but I'm so used to games like Skyrim, Fallout, etc. having fatalities that are more cinematic.
Yeah I think they updated the blood splatter decals, I'm not too sure why. Fatalities would be a bit more cinematic if it took camera control for sure, but as you said, multiplayer makes that a more difficult choice. I think they went the right way by leaving the camera control with the player
Thanks for the video. For me it's a revelation. I don't care about all the fatalities mechanics, the only thing that matters to me is the animations, and they look very spectacular and that's the point.
I didn't think the mechanics would be that good, but in practicality, I do think they have at least something of a place. The animations are very nice though, there are one or two that I think could be a bit weightier, but most are pretty good
They're the 'Serpentes Sword' from Siptah, the wiki has them down as two handed daggers, but they're closer to the dual wield axes in terms of weapon class, and share a fatality with them
I'm so sad that Funcom removed half of these animations :( no more flying hads and half bodies anymore. Too brutal ... PHA! Nothing is too brutal for Conan!
I think the animations are bugged as opposed to being intentionally removed. Conan is 18+ now after AoS so there's no real reason for the devs to remove them, plus dismemberment still occurs with regular deaths
They look pretty cool but if there's only 1 fatality animation per weapon type I could see them losing their visual novelty fairly quickly. If there was 3 per weapon type that would hold cinematic appeal much longer.
Yeah I was hoping for multiple, though I suppose it leaves the door open for more animations in the future, be that in the base game or in the Battle Pass, it seems like something they'd put in the BP if it's do-able
They did, you can now toggle 'auto-face forward on attack' and combat is basically the same as it was in AoW C2. They've also adjusted the rotation of some of the biggest offending NPCs/monsters who stayed glued to the characters

OMG smashing heads with a giant hammer looked pretty amazing. The dagger one was cool too. But head smashing...yes!
The Hammer one was pretty impressive 😂 The Katana is my favourite, quick and simple, though the Spear was surprisingly good too

They're the Whirlwind Blades, you get the recipe for them from the library beneath the unnamed city, if I recall correctly

Dude, this is (almost) as bloody as the finishes in Dead Island 2 :D - well, not quite, but pretty gory for this style of game! Pretty slick

Agreed, the spear is surprisingly good, alongside the Greatsword. I'm glad the Katana one is quite good, Katanas are always my favourite

do you use the camloc to get those camera angles?
I use Camloc often, but this is on the beta client so I don't run any mods. Just had to get a bit creative with camera angle and the FOV command 😂

They're the 'Serpentes Sword' from Siptah, they come from the Serpentes Armory knowledge at the end of the Sanctuary of the Serpent or Snakemen vaults
