EDIT: I don't know why I forgot to mention this in the video but I think the ¥2,000 price tag is a bit steep. Around ¥1,500 might have been more reasonable. Thank you for watching, Explorers! Thanks for another great vlog, I have a question. So if the website or app doesn't really agree with foreign cards, how do I book a vacation package from Europe. We don't have a Danish side, where we can book tokyo trips, only Paris 🥴
Paper Fastpass was just the PERFECT system, I loved it. I'm so disappointed that Tokyo Disneyland seems to be headed in the direction of the US parks when it comes to this. Yes you have a choice not to pay for it, but if it inflates the standby line then it's not a fair choice. It's not too bad with the timings in your video but it's still early days, I guess we'll see what happens With Fastpass everyone had the same opportunity to make their own decisions over what rides to prioritise. So when you're in a long standby watching others cruise past you, at least you know it's because you chose this in exchange of benefiting on a different ride.
someone did a video about it (I cant remember who) where they analyzed wait times and saw that the fastpass, on average, didn't change wait times for popular rides because so many people used it only for the popular rides. After a while, everyone was on the main attractions while smaller rides were neglected by riders. I think Disney realized that taking away the fastpass forces people to try to smaller attractions.
Thing about the Premier Access is that you miss a lot of the queue theming, also you enter the choke point after the pre-show that takes about 10 mins until can get on the ride. Probably only worth it if the line is 60 mins plus. Good to try for experience though at least once!
Sad to see the traditional fast passes gone :'( Some great memories using them!! I still have mine so I will have to hold on to them as souvenirs. Thank you for showing us these changes at the parks as they happen!
Thank you for watching! I have a set of FastPass I collected over the years for the attractions that were still open at the time. I have them in a file somewhere.
Hi. Your guide saved me lots of time at the beauty and the beast ride in Tokyo today. The queueing was 110 minutes so we got the Disney premier access and went straight through to the staircase room and only queued for 10 to 15 minutes before getting on. So glad we did this as the ride was amazing and I would have missed it as we didn't want to queue for so long.
I wish they had this in the Vatican. My tour group lined up for an hour. Inside was packed with many other tourists tour groups. The crowds were too much. That was the time Charles and Camilla were visiting but, I didn't see them.
It's not really optional when you think about it. If you're not from Tokyo, you only get 2 days for Disney usually. The fastpass system was perfect, OLC is just imitating US park's greed.
WDW: We didn't make Beast's castle bigger because of forced perspective, it's a better effect! Tokyo: *Lol no* Man I love that castle, Tokyo and detail are a match made in heaven. Shame about the FastPass machines because Tokyo had some very unique FastPass machines. At least the Haunted Mansion ones are still around
I love the timing of finding this. I don’t often think of Disneyland or Tokyo Disneyland but to see this the day of upload intrigues me! I can’t wait to see what else they’ll add and if it’s something I’ll consider for my own trip.
Thanks for doing this video Chris! It's good to see how this works as hopefully we'll be heading back to TDR for a trip in the next few years. I'm personally disappointed that Disney is removing fast pass in all its park and replacing it with a paid option. It's getting so expensive for those of us who travel so far to get to a park (like us Aussies).
Man, Genie+ completely ruined the experience for me (at Disneyland at least), I find it disgusting they basically forced you to pay for it now that the lines are huge because surprise-surprise they’re now pulling more G+ riders than the regular queue..and the cycle repeats…quite genius if you think about it :/
If I could move out of my home to another country, I'd definitely live in Beast's Castle at Tokyo Disneyland. I feel like I deserve it after everything I've done
thank you for making this! I really like your content videos, it's practical and useful and you explain it like a friend talking, very easy to understand. Im going to Tokyo on March and gonna spend a day at tokyo disneyland hotel (one of my dream hotels) and Disneyland Park. Me and my husband are considering to buy premier access for beauty and beast.
Thank you so much. We needed this video. My friends and I are debating whether or not to pay ¥2000. We're going to go during the week and wait in line🔥🔥🔥. Keep the videos coming ✨✨✨👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you for watching! I’m glad you found it useful. Yeah, mid-week I don’t think you’ll need to use this. Especially if it’s your first time you want to see the entire beautiful queue anyway!
😂😂😂 14:33 "may not be available...I guess if the wait time is super low they're not going to make you pay"!!! Disney World in Florida jacks up their wait times and will happily have customers pay even if the wait time is at 0!
I tried the new DPA (Disney Premier Access) today with Beauty and The Beast. While the price was a bit steep, you do get to skip the outside queue. Contrary to other comments, you don’t miss the atmosphere/theming. Most of that is within the castle after rejoining the rest of the queue (i.e Belle and Beast animatronics, and chip and Mrs Potts silhouettes etc). So, I felt that it was worth it. You can also take your time going inside, to take photos of the outside of the castle. I’d definitely use it for Soaring, as well.
@@dessykate713 I believe you have to be in the park to claim it (Main Street House (TDL) or Guest Relations (TDS), but it’s been a while since I have used it so you might wanna double check :) I claimed it at Main Street House when the park opened, when I was there
Thanks for the video! Next time, could you give the wait times from the entrance until the preshow, and entrance until butt-in-seat? All in the name of research, of course! Even on a once in a lifetime trip, I think I would just rope drop it instead of using premiere access. 2000 yen can buy a lot of mousse! 😄
I forgot to show that part! It was about 21 mins from entering through the Premier Pass line to getting on the ride. The BatB ride itself is about 7-8 minutes.
Thanks so much for the helpful information! We’re a family of seven and I was trying to figure out how the premier access worked. For us it sounds like it’d be way too costly. So I suppose we’ll have to get to the park early like you recommended.
Wow per ride, pretty expensive! Thks for sharing. I did the fast pass in Disney Cali + was so worth it-even paying for the 5 of us. Hopefully Tokyo gets the fast pass before I go in 2026. Following you so i stay in the know 👌
Access Now with that out of the way, thank you for all your videos. I find them massively entertaining and really helpful as someone who has never been to Disney or Universal (or anywhere really) . Makes me feel like I'm there sometimes. I also love your Pocahontas shirt and now I'm jealous this existed without me knowing.
Never been to either of those two. Been to Japan twice but, not to Universal or Disneyland. Never even crossed over to the USA. I saw people crossing over the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls. I learned recently that you pay to cross the bridge. I thought it was free coz the vehicles are not charged for border crossing.
Thanks for the review of this new system. I’ll likely never use it, but like you said it’s nice to have options. The biggest downfall for me is missing that beautiful que line.
I felt that anxiety of waiting to see if your foreign credit card will work with TDR. Park tickets is so random and hardly ever works yet I have no problem booking TDR hotels.
Might be worth it. You spend all that money to go on a vacation, reserve a day of your trip to spend at the park, then because you want to be cheap you dont buy premier pass, and spend 2 hours in line per ride, wasting the day away. You arent paying to ride the ride. You pay to buy time to see the rest of the park.
Is there a way to add my credit card details beforehand so i don’t need to fiddle with entering my cc details on the spot? Also, was your Canadian card a Visa or a Mastercard?
Planning my first visit to TDR for next year and feeling sad that I never got to experience the fastpass system :’( but thanks as always for your helpful videos! I’m still excited nonetheless :D
sounds just like the US parks version of Disney+ 's "individual lightning Lane" where you can buy a single ride for 15 to 20 bucks USD. but you only have a total of 3 rides 2 choose from in both parks in California.
But it’s also the cost for Rise of the Resistance at the same park, for one ride. Plenty of people pay it every day and their line can reach the 45 min mark.
So basically, only worth it for long lines? Kinda crazy to spend 2000 yen and save so little time. I feel like fast pass saved way more time, but as you said it needs to be gauged better before it can be judged I think.
The Simpsons made fun of Disney and their price gouging methods. There was one episode where Homer and Bart went on a Soaring over Springfield ride (like Soaring Over California) and the part of the ride where it looked like they flew over the park entrance and Homer made a comment on how great the ride is and how it felt that they just re-entered the park. Right when he said that, there was a park employee telling Homer since they re-entered the park, they need to pay a readmission fee. I have a feeling that Disney will be heading toward that direction too.
The weird part of this whole thing is how they JUST released the blind box toys of the fast pass machines from the park at Bon Voyage. It’s weird to sell a toy of a part of the park that has been shut down since 2020 and seems like it’s not returning.
Access! Thanks for the review! Although I love getting through lines faster, it wouldn’t be worth it to skip so much of the queue and then just be lumped into the regular line. Sad that the old FP system has gone away.
I was there a week ago and the DPA was already available for purchase.....30 mins after the park opened the Beauty and the Beast ride was 55 mins wait I almost caved in but decided to wait and hour later it was less than 30 mins. Not worth paying any price IMO however it was low season.
Hi you mentioned that you also have a japanese credit card if your canadian crecit card wont work how were you able to apply for a japanese credit card?
Hi there, i was wondering if we would have to be in the disney land park to get the beauty and the beast ? Can we be in Disney sea and purchase it since we are doing both parks in one day ?
Since I would only have maybe 2 days in each park again I think the premier ACCESS is worth it but I will be checking the app to see if the wait times are over the hour or not.
During holidays, the fast pass definitely seems necessary sadly. Toy Story and soaring had 2 1/2 - 3 hour lines and the fast pass was only a 10 min wait or so, mostly BECAUSE there was a constant stream of fast passes going in (I know this cuz I went on Toy Story with the same amount of line when fast passes weren’t available a year ago and it was only 40 min instead of 2 hours
Thanks for the video - it might be worth it if you could walk right onto the ride, but being corralled into the regular preshow line greatly reduces the benefit.
I'd say for this preshow in particular you wouldn't want to skip it as it's part of the attraction. The section right after is the queue for the loading area.
Happened to be in disney world right when the fastpass system first launched, it was a complete waste of time. The only ride that really needed when I was there was the avatar ride & even then I think the delay in our standby was only due to the ride itself having technical issues. Majority of the time the fastpass lane was longer than standby because everyone just mass buying fastpass. I wonder if it'll end up being similar in Tokyo. Sad to hear about the kiosks getting removed, I loved running around for fastpasses as a kid when I lived there.
Suica is e-money, not a pre-paid credit card, so it's not accepted through the app for payment. You can use Suica for payments inside the park like the restaurants and merchandise.
@@Panda_Roll keep an eye on our website! We’re working on updating our guides since we’re finally moving towards reopening for tourism. tdrexplorer.com
The Disney app is mean to ALL credit cards so don't worry. I have two Japanese cards and they are both rejected regularly 😒 (one visa, one MasterCard...different banks).
Hi Chris! Love your videos! I bought my disneyland ticket with klook (I tried first with disney's app, but my card was rejected), does this means that I will not be able to buy disney premier access? Thanks
No matter what it’s called in Japan or Shanghai, this is exactly like the Lighting Lane that’s part of the new Genie system in the states. You pay a fixed price for one ride to skip a line. My question is whether this will have as negative an impact in Tokyo as it does in the US? When everyone buys this and stand-by times are inflated because everyone is skipping the line - then are you really saving any time or just spending money to skip an artificially inflated line? Maybe it’s better to just have stand-by. Choices are fine, but that’s not what this is. This is paying to stand in a shorter line while making the free line longer for no reason other than to sell a place in line as far away from the end as possible. Then you have to wonder if the posted wait times are accurate to begin with (another problem in the states). I’m curious to hear what your findings will be. Maybe because it’s only limited to a few rides and not most of them, as in the US, this will be a good way to save people some time in the park. When over half the rides in the park become part of it though, then you really feel that your ideal Disney day is behind a paywall. Thanks for posting this Chris! I really enjoy your channel.
No more free unused fastpass tickets for souvenir 😢 I don't really like where this is heading. If this is successful milked, they will add another add-ons for other attractions like games DLC/cash shop.
I would gladly pay this to save time and most importantly because we have a 4yo toddler who will not be able to withstand the boredom of queuing and waiting in line for hours
Hello, I am going in December. Do you know if I can get the Premier access before arriving? Or Have to scan entry ticket then buy afterward? Also is the cost per location/attraction that the cost per Yen? Or is there a pass that lets you go on multiple for a total cost?
It’s only once you’re inside the park you can buy premier access and it’s per attraction there’s no bundle. The TDR website lays it out in detail if you need a reference. Thank you for watching!
I applaud disneyland for having their fast pass system as it was. The system was reasonable and fair. Unlike other park like universal, etc where u have to pay for it. This news came to me as a surprise. Super disappointed, and that price tag is sure is super steep. Boo
Even worse than Genie+. I tried both before and when I was US parks in Orlando&CA I had to be ready at 6~7am even before get to the park because some of popular rides were running out so fast. Even worse thing is that some rides like Starwars are seperated with the name what they call “Individual Lane” which is requied to pay 15-25bucks more. During in the park, I had to keep looking at the phone in order to get new lightning lanes(canceled by someone else). And Tokyo was just ridiculous. I paid for Beauty and the beast and Sea of dreams, and it was the half price of the normal ticket price.
The gouging of customers continues. People really pay for something they already paid for when they purchased their entry ticket. The trouble is Disney/Oriental Land prices it at that sweet spot. Not ridiculously cheap, so everyone buys it, but not so ludicrously expensive that no one buys it. They know it causes the standby queue to crawl, because cast members prioritise DPA customers. It effectively punishes those unable or unwilling to pay.
EDIT: I don't know why I forgot to mention this in the video but I think the ¥2,000 price tag is a bit steep. Around ¥1,500 might have been more reasonable.

@@zeynepstokholm3302 You'll have to try your cards and see if they work. That's really all you can do sadly.
I was just coming to mention this. That's $22 Australian. The big test will come when DIsney Japan opens fully and crowds return.
So 2000 yen per one of those three attractions OR 2000 yen cover all three ?
They should drop the park tickets if regular fast pass not offered.

Since I would only have maybe 2 days in each park again I think the premier ACCESS is worth it but I will be checking the app to see if the wait times are over the hour or not.
You’re an awesome 😎 UA-cam channel.
I appreciate that!
I agree fast pass is good but it bothers me that you can only use once per ride and you have to play extra for certain rides.
Thanks for the video - it might be worth it if you could walk right onto the ride, but being corralled into the regular preshow line greatly reduces the benefit.
I'd say for this preshow in particular you wouldn't want to skip it as it's part of the attraction. The section right after is the queue for the loading area.
Does premier pass accept Apple Pay?
Happened to be in disney world right when the fastpass system first launched, it was a complete waste of time. The only ride that really needed when I was there was the avatar ride & even then I think the delay in our standby was only due to the ride itself having technical issues. Majority of the time the fastpass lane was longer than standby because everyone just mass buying fastpass. I wonder if it'll end up being similar in Tokyo. Sad to hear about the kiosks getting removed, I loved running around for fastpasses as a kid when I lived there.
Oh samee, running from end to end to catch FP and rides hahaha. This is just sad....
When you mentioned Japanese CCs does that mean the pre-paid one like Suico? Would that work for Disney Tokyo?
Suica is e-money, not a pre-paid credit card, so it's not accepted through the app for payment. You can use Suica for payments inside the park like the restaurants and merchandise.
@@tdrexplorer Ah ok. planning a trip for Oct. if they start loosing up restrictions so any tips for first time tourists post covid is helpful.
@@Panda_Roll keep an eye on our website! We’re working on updating our guides since we’re finally moving towards reopening for tourism. tdrexplorer.com
When you enter payment card details, does it allow you to pick card from Apple Wallet or do you have to type details in?
The Disney app is mean to ALL credit cards so don't worry. I have two Japanese cards and they are both rejected regularly 😒 (one visa, one MasterCard...different banks).
CAn you use your suica card to pay for this if the American credit card doesn't work?
How did you enter Japan 😭😭😭
He lives there.
Hi Chris! Love your videos! I bought my disneyland ticket with klook (I tried first with disney's app, but my card was rejected), does this means that I will not be able to buy disney premier access? Thanks
You scan the Klook ticket into the app!
These are not good news 😞 Is the Single Rider Line gone as well?
Like the FastPass, we haven't had single rider for any attractions since reopening in 2020.
Hello,
I am going in December.
Is there an option to pay with Disney gift card (in case there are issues with foreign credit card)? Thank you!
Sadly no, it's credit card only.
@@tdrexplorer thank you! Well, still good to know in advance;-)
Random but does Tokyo Disney have Gluten Friendly meals like they do in the states?
The Parks only have an allergen-free menu, it's not as extensive as the US parks.
I applaud disneyland for having their fast pass system as it was. The system was reasonable and fair. Unlike other park like universal, etc where u have to pay for it. This news came to me as a surprise. Super disappointed, and that price tag is sure is super steep. Boo
I will purchase it if wait times are outrageous. I will spend my money on souvenirs.
does anyone know why disneyland tokyo also sell 1 day pass ?
Nice video I wanna ask something Is Disney premier access have to be bought for every ride individually?
Yes www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/tdr/guide/app_service.html
I think you guys are going to get Genie+ at some point. They're no way Disney is going to pass up an opportunity to pull more money from each person.
I mean, OLC is the one that put this out. I hope they have a better solution than Genie+ or it's at least cheaper, doesn't look like it though.
I probably would not use the Disney Premier ACCESS. It's a little expensive for a family.
