@@dscobellusa I usually do a normal pastry crust and just add a little sugar for strawberry pies. But someone turned me on to this pretzel crust years ago and it's just absolutely delicious! Pretty sure they got the idea from that jello strawberry salad but it works so well here. I've also done a mock cheesecake layer in the bottom and on the top. Easier on the bottom to spread. It's literally just a cam of sweetened condensed milk and softened cream cheese. Some times I add a box of pudding mix if I want it even thicker.
Tipper I used to make this 40+ yrs ago when I first married. I am definitely going to make it again! My hubs aunt gave me the recipe back then. Love her heart. She’s in heaven now. She always had the latest recipes as she was an operator for Ma Bell. Thanks for sharing & God Bless! ❤️
Miss Tipper this is exactly how my mom made her strawberry pie and how we all like our strawberry pie now that she is no longer with us. God bless you and your family
Looks so good! We had an elderly neighbor when I was a young boy who would gift me a whole strawberry pie every year for my birthday. This brings back some memories. I sure do miss her.
I recently took my kids to the nearest Shoney’s I could find, (nearly an hour away). I had been telling them for years about Big Boy and the hot fudge cake and all the memories I had there as a child. Well, first, let me say that they do, in fact, still serve the strawberry pie. But second, let me say that, umm, well it’s not exactly the magical place I remembered it to be.😳 My kids ended up asking me why we passed up so many good places on our way to eat there! 😂🤣 I guess it’s best to let some sleeping memories lie!
Granny’s Strawberry jam looks delicious! I love strawberry pie too. I now cut them up at least in half. The very first strawberry pie I ever made was so pretty , I had given my New mother and father in law a slice and the first strawberry my mother in law bit into had a big worm in it! I had NEVER found worms in strawberries and have never found another one…anyway if it was bound to happen….. lol
Thank you. I am going to make this. When I was little, I loved strawberries. I disliked cake. Since strawberries were in season on my birthday, my mom would make strawberry shortcake. I would eat a bowl of strawberries while everyone enjoyed their cake. One day I found a recipe for strawberry cake. It was so delicious that I found myself eating cake for breakfast! Pies have always been my favorite, though. Loving your channel & appreciating your sharing.
My husband will be so excited. His family would buy these pies when he was little. I didn’t like strawberries growing up because the seeds were on the outside. I don’t know why that bothered me 😂 My Mama & Papa (grandparents) would take me to Shoneys, it was “fancy” to me. This was in South Carolina. Thank you again for sharing and giving us another lovely memory.
I was at Fatz in Franklin today and there was a couple from Murphy. He has a car repair place, been there forever. I asked them if they knew y’all....they didn’t. However! When I was a kid back in the 1970s I used to get a similar strawberry pie topped with whipped cream at a local cafeteria and boy did I look forward to it.
I haven't thought about Shoneys strawberry pie in years- Shoneys is long gone where I live. I love strawberry pie- it's like Spring on a plate. I need the whipped cream though lol. Thank you for sharing Tipper! 💗🌷🍓
Brings back memories of my childhood in the 70s when our family would stop by Shoney’s on the way home from church on Sunday night for a piece of their strawberry pie. For some reason Mom’s homemade strawberry pies never could quite capture that Shoney’s pie. They were good, but just not quite the same. I just shared this with my wife so we can try it. Never had strawberry pie with graham cracker crust but love graham cracker crust and I can’t wait to try it!
my mother's mother's mother (we called her Grammaw) made both strawberry and rhubarb pie filling this way, but always used a raglar piecrust fer it. she was a saintly woman, a natural ascetic, who never spoke ill of a single soul. may her prayers in glory help us.
What we like at our hose is to combine 8oz cream cheese with one tub of cool whip spread that on the crust then top with the strawberry mixture and refrigerate. Yours looks mighty tasty!
Matt's standing by like let's get on with it I'm ready for pie 🤣🤣🤣🤣.he has realy starting to get confortable with the videos. Yes that was very sweet what he said. Thanks as always great videos
That strawberry pie looks absolutely yummy, Tipper. The way you divided it suits me, too: a piece for Matt, and a piece for you, and the rest of it could be my piece. 🍓
I love this strawberry pie & it’s so easy…I also love to make a dip for fresh strawberries…I use 1 block of softened cream cheese & one 7oz. Jar of marshmallow cream & dash of vanilla…blended together with mixer…any fruit is good to dip in it but my favorite are strawberries 🍓
I agree with Matt, it's almost as sweet as you are. I used to make this pie almost every Mother's Day. I haven't made it in several years. I have strawberries with blooms this year too and I'm so excited! I will have to make this pie soon!!
This is how I make strawberry pie but use a shortbread cookie crust as my family isn't fond of graham cracker crust. It is delicious. Thank you for sharing.
Tipper, I love that you more often than not go for taste over presentation. I cook much in the same way. I have never been one to decorate or make dishes look "pretty." Every so often, I can pull it off, but most of the time, I just want the food to taste good. Having said that, your strawberry pie looks delicious! I just bought some strawberries today, so I may make one of these over the weekend. Thank you for sharing!
Ms. Tipper, I don't even care for strawberries but that pie looks amazing! I'm pretty sure I'd like them if prepared like this. My memory fails me. But, if you don't already have it, how about a chocolate pie with graham cracker crust video? God Bless you and thank you for bringing us all together once again to celebrate Appalachia. Y'all make my days complete.
Thank you Tipper. I always have problems with my gel when I make it. I never had a recipe, just tried to make it on my own. I know what I have been doing wrong now. Thanks for the recipe.
That is the exact recipe I’ve always used. Stoney’s was a memory from my high school days in WV. Matt is such a dear. U should do a program on how to find a life partner that is so nice, kind & thoughtful. I remember when he fixed the handle on one of ur favorite measuring cups.
Great recipe! I make a similar pie, but keep the strawberries whole. Local Strawberries around here aren’t ready until mid to late June and are wonderful. Sometimes we go to a you pick farm and pick them. Those currently in the grocery stores come from California and are seldom worth putting into a pie. Occasionally they are good though! Yummy thoughts of summer.
Thank you for this recipe. I have a friend who loves Strawberry pie. Need to make her one. I hope to make some jam soon too. Nothing better than a local strawberry 🍓 straight from the fields.😋. Have a wonderful week Ms. Tipper.
Shoney's has been gone for awhile here and your pie looks just like their's. Will try my hand at this soon for the grandkids, because Strawberries are in now from Ponchaoula La. . Thank You Tipper
Locally grown strawberry time here in the Maryland Piedmont runs from May into early June. Daddy's sister, my Nanny, always sliced local strawberries and sugared them ahead of time so they would soften as juice was draw out of them. She made true short cakes, large sweetened, very short bisquits. In a bowl went the bottom half of the shortcake, some stawberries and juice , top half of shortcake, more berries and juice and whipped cream. In the days when mostly only seasonal fruits and vegetables could be bought at the grocery stores, this yearly treat, and others, were eagerly awaited and savored, the memory of which had to last until another year rolled around.
Matt is such a sweetheart! I wish Butch liked strawberries, I would make this for us. I certainly don’t need to eat a whole pie by myself….but I could!!☺️. Thanks Tipper for the recipe. I could make this pie the next time we have company to help me eat it!!👍🏻

My grandma made a baked strawberry pie that was awesome. Here, down in the NC piedmont...foothills...we tend to to have alot of strawberry farms. Love y'all!
That looks delicious! I always wondered how Shoney’s made their Strawberry Pie. Our Shoney’s sadly closed several years back. I’ll have to get me some local strawberries and give this recipe a try. Thank you for sharing!
You and deer hunter make a great couple! It will be awhile til we get fresh strawberries here in PA but the jam is my favorite. Thanks for what you do! God bless 💖
