If we submit around 300 million scores this year with a 10% increase in scores submitted every new year, it would take around 8.7 billion years to reach the 64-bit integer limit assuming we don't go extinct and the game is still alive. If anyone unironically thinks we can reach the 64-bit integer limit in our lifetime, they don't grasp the concept of how huge a quintillion is.

The CPU architecture actually doesn't matter *that* much and bigger numbers can easily be processed on current hardware. 128-bit, 512-bit, and even 2048-bit numbers are commonly used, especially in cryptography.

im surprise they didnt just encode into decimal before entering database and store it, since is just score not like important stuff, even some important stuff is written as deciman into database and decodeit before coming out.
i mean honestly kinda overdramatized. the fix would literally be `alter table scores alter column id bigint`. from the screenshots what they were actually doing was definitely closer to performance improvements and cleaning up an old mess. had it gone unnoticed - now that of course would have been dramatic.
I have been playing OSU since like 2013 or 2012 and OSU back then was really good but I don't know when but then everybody started caring about PP and then that's when I seen the maps and songs went downhill and you just see the same types of anime screeching songs now I never was really good at the standard OSU because I didn't had a good mouse or monitor or keyboard or computer to keep up with the latency but I played mostly Catch The Beat and I was pretty good at that
does that mean that mrekks cycle hit dt fc is one of the last scores submitted on the old database nice if not, then its one of the first on the new database, which is also nice
As a dev, i only saw two possible fixes: this, and converting every id to a string containing the ign of the player, the name of the map (in romaji) and the date, though manipulating existing data is quite risky
