A crack baby is a baby that was born while the mother was actively taking drugs. So from birth the baby is going through withdrawals bc during pregnancy it was receiving the drugs.

Like what you were talking about with Happy, something that you might use relationships or sex to try and sate or just distract yourself from it. Those lines "It's been a long hard, 20 years." That implies it's been something she's looked for nearly her entire life. There's been an aching absence.
Songs like "My Body's Crushed Little Stars" and "Thursday Girl" I feel like also build this idea of dissatisfaction and lack.
I don't know.
I had some pretty big mental health problems during my late teens and that was the time when I connected to this music most viscerally. It feels like you live your life with this hole inside of you that no one sees. And it's incredibly hard to even articulate how it feels because it's just been there for so long.
I see the ‘I am the fire and I am the forest and I am a witness watching it’ as a way of her acknowledging that she is the one (the fire) causing herself so much hurt and damage (the forest) by staying in these unhealthy relationships, and she’s watching and allowing it to happen to herself

People assume that the dogs in I bet on losing dogs are losing a race, but its actually about a dog fighting ring. She bets on them and watches them lose because she wants someone to be there for her and watch her die in the ring because she is losing too

I a million times over recommend her first two albums. I can genuinely say that while it may not be my favorite album ever, Retried From Sad, New Career in Business is the *best* album ever; it contains some of her most poetic lyrics, as well as being an interesting (and really cool) genre of orchestra pop 🤩

I'm unsure of how you would feel about her first album lush because it's pretty different from her other albums, but her production and lyrics are so beautiful, and she really nails the concept, in my opinion. You should definitely try listening it's one of my absolute favorite albums, and it's amazing that the album was made as a project for class in college 💗

loved your reaction !!, u should definitely listen to Sir Chloe’s “I Am The Dog” album, I swear they almost don’t have bad songs yet are extremely underrated 😵, their lyrics are so good too.
i have a theory that a lot of her songs about relationships are a personification of her career in the arts, and sometimes the toxic partner she sings about is her job, or in her earlier works her desire for a job making music
