This was the first thing I did when they introduced this new title! It’s impressive how many different stuff you can do with the shading! Thanks you for the video and putting it all together! ❤
Good stuff! Now, when Patrick says "Let's walk through a few...", what he means to say is: Don't bother brewing the coffee. Simply eat a few mouthfuls of Espresso grounds, chase them with a few RedBulls and tighten your seatbelt. aaaaaand here we go!!! 😁
All very cool features, crippled by all the jank in per character styling, lack of paragraph box for longer text, and no opacity in per-word animation.... not to mention performance tanks once you start using a follower modifier... Text/mograph is one of the biggest things that keeps me using FCPX.
Yup we all get Comfortable with other programs don't we. Like way back when (1996-98) Adobe dropped their Text Editor for the one they bought and added to the Adobe Premier CS series. But then DaVinci has far surpassed most all editors in every thing Especially PRICE.
@@HoundDogMech I've used (professionally) every editor known to man. Resolve is great, and in most regards has surpassed other editors. Obviously in the color space. Different packages prioritize different things. Davinci has prioritized superior color and audio over motion graphics. I can respect that. My videos require lots of text and graphics, and basic color. Final Cut is best for that job. Not about comfort, it's about what is the best tool for the job. I'll make the jump to Resolve fully when they prioritize mograph more.
Hi Patrick, Please could you help. I am trying to make the same floating Polaroid effect like yours but my images jump around a lot how can I stop that. Thanks Alexander in Madagascar.
A little unrelated, but can I but a boarder/outline around a photo in cut or edit tab? I tried using the solid boarder effect but it puts it around whole screen not just around the photo, thanks
Go to the fusion page and use the border effect, that will place it around the photo. No need to understand fusion or anything, you have similar controls as the edit page to tweak it.
@@oo0Spyder0oo Thanks, I’m on iPad version and not seeing that effect and I used the search feature too. Am I doing something wrong or is that not an option in iPad version?
You can create a solid color effect and place it under the photo layer. Then you can adjust the size of the border by adjusting the solid color generator.
I'm still with them! I only handled some public-facing video for them for a short period of time before they could hire someone for that specific role. but I've stayed on their team making Resolve presets
You can change the font size of individual letters in text but not text plus! How stupid. The people at Resolve are clueless when it comes to graphics. Why do you think the biggest graphic program in the world is AE. The engineers at Resolve have no idea how to make graphic!
Again Patrick, I really love your tatorials. If You are Trying to teach then even Slowing the Video to 50% it is very hard to follow what you are doing. If indeed you are TEACHING Please slow down and emphasize each KEY stroke, FUSION is so intimidating as is and not being able to follow is Extreamily Frustrating. JMHO Sir.
@@StuartHetzler keyframe editor on the fusion page sucks and keyframing on the edit page is very bad as well. it's the only reason I still haven't switched from premiere and after effects. I do a lot of keyframing and animation for youtube videos. Yes, I could animate on the fusion page and use the spline graph but then I lose the ability to trim the layers and have to use the horrible keyframe editor to move the keyframes.
@@raiidovfx I appreciate the response. I rarely touch the keyframe editor on the fusion page and pretty much just stick to the spline window, so I'll take your word for it.

Brilliant. I learned so much from this video. Thank you for creating it for us.
Thanks PATRICK! We always learn a lot from you!
Thanks for the work, Patrick; well done! 😀
Great to see you back and with this type of video!

Why wait? Simply use after effects. It’s superior to all the other graphic programs put together.
Nice tutorial
How to use fonts with alternate characters & ligatures in Davinci resolve/fusion ?
Sir , any idea about this one ?
I'm just trying to create a simple bulleted list. Can anyone help with any tips for this?

Great video. Thanks for the info.
a bit off topic... why did u leave motionVFX ?

@PatrickStirling thanks for replying..... I used to be excited for their davinci resolve templates but lately they aren't producing good stuff
use text and add gifs [may just be 💦these kind of emotes though] at the end of the text right into (type area) is a nice thing for non-text-plus
Is the title intentional or a typo error. "Thank you think" or "Than you think"
What I get for quickly swapping out alternatives 😅
Customiziosityness.
🤘
❤❤❤
Its embarrassing resolve still doesnt have word wrap
There's a free fuse called textwrapping that works pretty well for that.

You just need to use a text modifier for character-level styling 👍

Love resolve… But… If we’re talking about graphics only… It’s kind of pathetic. Compared to after effects there’s no comparison.
I'll grant you the puppet tool, but what major features is fusion lacking for motion graphics in your opinion?
but working with layers feels shit if once you got comfortable with nodes based workflow like fusion

@@raiidovfx how do you hate about key frame panel can you be more specific?
I am sure this is valuable. But it is so confusing, poorly organized,...
