Marx and Malatesta both take time to answer this “women in common” question and do it in their own styles, both are entertaining to read. Malatesta is the most direct in his language though and I love that for him.
Communist Manifesto, chapter II: “But you Communists would introduce community of women, screams the whole bourgeoisie in chorus. The bourgeois sees in his wife a mere instrument of production. He hears that the instruments of production are to be exploited in common, and, naturally, can come to no other conclusion, than that the lot of being common to all will likewise fall to the women. He has not even a suspicion that the real point aimed at is to do away with the status of women as mere instruments of production.”
It's wild that women were so strongly considered as literal objects that this was a talking point. Usually when referring to objectification of women it's about a subconscious attitude, but this is just literally regarding them as property.
challenging the underlying assumptions of a bad faithed argument is powerful. we should do this more often when important discussions tend towards absurdity again.
Now that I'm seeing so much sexism grow horribly, and in general find myself in despair at how the world is, this comes as a nice reminder, that there was those that dreamed and tried to have a better reality than this one, that besides the difference on time holded the same values that are considered today as modern and unatural by those erasing them and opposed the same crimes against life that daring to oppose today is considered unvirtuous, so bright was their will that even in defeat, it burns harder than the stars of the victors
One often hears things like: "At that time, every man regarded women as his property and was a bad sexist". It's good to see that there were also some men who tried to support women and their rights.
I wonder if Splendid Anghara and the other escapees from the citadel in Mad Max: Fury Road had read Malatesta. "We are not things" was one of their mottos
Such a better reply to 'community of women' than what Marx & Engels give in the Communist Manifesto (German Ideology? Something else from 40-60?). They walked so Malatesta & Mattick could run 😌
This has nothing to do with the video, but Im looking for some advice. I'm currently working on my BA as a means towards a Master's in Human Rights. As a result, I'm taking liberal arts classes. I'm currently in a history class and try to sprinkle in anarchist analysis in the 300 words allotted, unfortunately I keep getting met with smug responses from the professor stating things like, "ideology based in reality." Any thoughts on how to address this?
@ZephLodwick I know irish priests used to make that accusation in the 1930s. In James Connollys time it was also lobbed against him. I think there is a book about Connolly that mentions this. By Lorcan Collins I think?
Unfathomably based Malatesta
Gotta replace the L in Malatesta and replace it with a W, Call him Mawatesta.

Do you have a link to where Marx gives his response? I wanna see what he had to say
@@LinusEnot an expert, but he addresses the same question in the Communist Manifesto, chapter II.

It would be cool to see someone act out At the Cafe as a video
Malatesta doesn’t miss.
He does, like any other person
Also, love how your comment is self defeating because Malatesta clearly objected to being put on a pedestal like that
@@Aura-bu9jb Giving someone a compliment isn’t putting them on a pedestal but go off.

Micro Zoe is GREAT.
Just as nice as "I like short songs" by DK.
These are always such great little gems, thanks for the extra effort of putting out the micros!
Malatesta only has one L and it’s in his name.

i actually am, personally, an inferior being
Can you provide an example of someone in real life saying that communists wished to hold women in common?
