I personally never thought of Ecliptor as a robot. I kinda thought that he was just another alien life form.
There's an alien like him in metroid prime hunters. Has the best design also
He always seemed like an obvious robot to me. He's literally a wireframe; how does something like that come to exist biologically?
@@masonwheeler6536 i thought he was like some sort of crystalline lifeform like that thing from Star Trek TNG.
@@Schwartzbruder1 either crystal or a power rangers power grid energy based lifeform
He’s the Mega evolution of Porygon obviously.
In space is the original aight let’s do something with the dumpster fire of a tv show and ends up being one of the best series of the show
Context: don’t mean the show sucked I just mean at the time the ratings weren’t doing so well and turbo didn’t turbo drive the view ratings, I like zeo, like mighty morphing a bit and turbo wasn’t that bad but the show wasn’t doing so well
I think Tommy/Adam/Kat leaving hit the ratings hard.
@@Vamp19vv I see Tanya isn’t important
@@pn2294 I mean she really wasn't imo. She was the weakest yellow ranger I can honestly remember.
@@spicyboi544 Second half of Turbo was fine, first half was meh.
I rather liked what they did Astronema's character arc, she goes from evil to good but also has to redem herself by becoming apart of the Galaxy Rangers and battling to save lives instead of take them, thus making her one of the more complex characters in all of PR and her redemption takes far longer than other villians of the same kind of arc, some villians just chalk up to being under a curse or spell for the most part, but Astronema was completely independant and had to make the hard choice!
Still mad Netflix took off ALL of the Power Ranger series and took off In Space RIGHT as I was about to finish the Psycho Ranger Saga. THANKS for reminding me of the excellence of this season.
Not sure if you've discovered this by now or not, but I recently found out that the Power Rangers channel on UA-cam has the full episodes of each season posted. So, now I can finish my journey of watching the series in order from start to finish here. Hopefully they never take them down.
Yeah, and you can always collect the show on DVD like I have.
Astronema had a great character development in this series which made in space more enjoyable to watch.
She became a pink ranger I believe👀
@@nicconasty yes that was in power rangers lost galaxy
Ransik certainly deserves a deep drive. He's one of the most realistic villians in the series, as well as having a powerful backstory and character arc.
Yes. He deserves it more than anyone.
Well, him and his daughter.
My favorite episode is where his daughter likes the blue ranger... and despite his feelings towards the rangers goes out of his way to help her :P
@@MAZZ0Murder The whole season needs a dive, honestly. It's up there with Space as one of the best series.
Yeah had a backstory that spanned two different shows just like Astronema.
a little over acting
I met Melody Perkins at Power Morphicon a few years back. I asked her, was it more fun to play Astronema or Karone? She said, "Astronema, definitely!"
I'm going to throw my hat out for a look at Jindrax and Toxica. They're one of the few Ranger villainous friendships that got to make it out alive and was a highlight of Wildforce for me.
Food for thought. When I was watching these character brake downs at thought struck me. Did Zordon set the Turbo Rangers up for failure, Specifically the second team, as a means of goating Dark Spector into a state of false security. Considering all of that and the millennial message, did Zordon get Dark Spector to make his move earlier than Dark Spector was originally intending too.
Of course not.
That wouldn't make sense unless the millennium was received during zeo, and that still doesn't explain WHY THE CARS?! i understand they needed to get to the nemesis triangle in the movie, but was there something saying they couldn't use any super sentai from before zyuranger? Cause if not they could have used jetman and had a faster form of transportation and had cooler looking zords then cars
@@powerrangerkid16 I still don’t see what the problem with cars is
Why Dinosaurs?
@@pn2294 it's just weird for zordon to switch from animal or legend themed zords to vehicle themed zords, its a really jarring change in formula, you wouldn't expect light speed rescue to have animal themed zords or spd to use magic would you?
And the reason for why dinosaurs is simple, because jurassic park just came out and super sentai wanted to jump on the trends of the time so they made their mecha based on dinosaurs and power rangers used the zyuranger footage, or at least thats the adult answer, but if you want the answer a child would give, shut up dinosaurs are cool!
Evil Is Cool: Astronema and Ecliptor are probably two of the more well-respected villains in the franchise. It likely helps that they are very effective villains with a *notable sense of respect and dedication to one another* and that *they undergo arcs that make them extremely sympathetic to viewers.*
They basically became the mold for Thanos, Joker(the dark knight) and many other great villains of the last 20 years.
Yay! The duo everyone will never forget. Astronema and Ecliptor! They truly provide a form of heart even if they're "evil".
Show spoilers below:
Ecliptor did not deserve what happened to him.
If he wasn't a full machine through the whole season, what do you think Ecliptor's origin story would be? I mean, it's clear that he did care about her like she was his daughter.
Yeah that guy had layers
As someone who believes good casting can make a great character epic, they really hit a home run here.
For all of her complexity and character intrigue, I don't know if she becomes as epic and memorable a character without Melody Perkins.
Ecliptor is up there with Zeltrax for my favorite Ranger villian design.
Im more an zenaku kind of guy but ecliptor desing is lost on modern sentai.
@@MrRobot-0 I'm more into the fact his weapon is a flute and he plays cool music. I'm a very simple man.
I honestly don't remember watching much of Wild Force as a kid but I do remember really liking everything about Zenaku and the LW Ranger. The music was cool, the suits were cool, the mechas were cool. The only thing I remember not like is how the actor that play Merrick looked.
Have you been watching Kiramager? I like Galza's design. I also remember liking a majority of LuPat villain designs.
@@ipacklunches wild force is know fo its villans one of the best megazord lines ever.
Lupat trough have a verry bad history imo, but keichiro is awesome.
Kiramger in genaral is impresive in what they axhive if you consider the precived lower budget.
Garza is one of rhe bether desings even sufering from the soft forms and the bulk comon in modern sentai.
@@MrRobot-0 I'll agree that LuPat has a disappointing story (I think that's what you're saying) but the character interactions and dynamics is what I love about it the most, the rivalry/friendship between Keiichiro and Kairi is great. Not to mention the awesome camera work during fights. The mechas were meh though, they kinda just follow the rule of "add stuff on to make it stronger"
Have you seen pictures for the next season? Not gonna lie, I'm feeling meh about the designs.
@@ipacklunches the carathers themselves were good (with exeption of yelow and number 2 ho were nothing burgers) the main problem with lupat is the flawed fundation deamande that the lupanrangers always win therefor they needed and absurd level of plot armor to make it trough, and kairi is the caracther ho suffer the most being a bordeline marry sue (crossing the line when he gets the power up) in every sene where he dont share with keichiro.
Its frustrathing because while it have potential but toei playing favorites and a poorly planed fundation make me fell waching the thouser arc of 01 but that is all the show have.
Astronoma and Elcliptor and great examples of well written PR villains. I just wished we had more of that in post RPM seasons.
I always wanted to see Ecliptor and Darkonda in Lost Galaxy.
Definitely two of the Best Villains form one of the Best Power Rangers series.
Top 5 Villians in the Power Rangers series:
(Btw please do a theme song ranking/tier list for every season. I would just love to see your opinion on them. Not the visuals but just the song.)
1. Time Force (Ransik/Frax/Nadira)
2. Space (Astronema/Ecliptor/Dark Spector)
3. Dino Thunder (Mesogog/Elsa/Zeltraz)
4. Mighty Morphin (Rita/Goldar/Zedd)
5. Ninja Storm (Lothor)
He’s already done a top 10 for both best villains (although he has admitted some regret towards the placement since then) and best theme songs (with his reasoning in the comments)
@@aionicthunder Yeah but I felt like doing it here just for the hell of it. Plus it's a newer video rn.
The Time Force villains are so overated...
I'd love to see you do a deep dive on Mesogog
How about Bulk and Skull. They went from dumb bullies to leading an army of parents against astronama.
Hello internet. He's the Disney brain.
How about Ransik from Time Force? I'm sure he'd be an interesting character to explore.
A very overrated one.
I would love some sort of deep analysis of Jindrax and Toxica's relationship, specifically focusing more on Jindrax and how it progresses through Wild Force. I think in some ways, it echoes the themes of the season better than Master Org's character!
Can we get a deep dive of the Dino Thunder villains.
Someone please talk about how after Reita comes back after being turned good as the queen of all good magic on power rangers mystic force.
Lol
I'd like to hear you talk about my guilty pleasure villain, Divatox. She gets more hate than she deserves, honestly.
I dont like 10% of the videos I watch, but I just liked this video before I even watched it. Love in space
So you like 90% of the videoes you watch
just finished the video essays on spd, so this was well timed
I wouldn’t mind seeing a deep dive into the Ten Terrors, to be honest. Particularly Itassis, who has always fascinated me since the first time she ever appeared. From The Light to Mystic Fate, she always felt like a frienemy to the Rangers. Beginning as someone who was actively in support of the master's campaign to arise from the Underground, who goes through her own moral dilemma after learning about courage. She seeks knowledge, cares about fighting fair and isn't as foolish as her companions, showcasing a level-headed and compassionate attitude, offering kindness to both Necrolai and Leelee. In a way, she helped to sabotage a lot of their efforts, through intefering with Megahorn and Serpentina's attacks on Daggeron, Nick and Vida, and even took down Sculpin with her own bare hands, and a large golden cannon. She was a badass, honestly.
Plus, she was the one who stepped in, blasted Octomus and stood back to let the rangers finish the job. Also, she's responsible for Gekkor's demise too since he would've won against Vida had Xander not turned up.
I mean, sure. She attacked them as well before defecting. But hey, Karone, Ransik, Nadira, Jindrax, Toxica, Marah, Kapri, Diabolico, Elsa, Tenaya, Jarrod and Camille, Heckyl, Tarrick, Santaura, Slyther and Mucus are in the same boat too.
Also, fun fact:
Itassis was voiced by Josephine Davison, the same actress known for portraying Morgana in S.P.D. and Solon in Dino Fury/Cosmic Fury.
i have a strange suggestion for a video. while it's always a treat to see redemption arcs, character foils, etc, maybe take a closer look at some of the darker implications of the ranger multiverse? from The coinless and shattered grid to RPM and Dino Charge. there's a lot of potential but also darker allusions to things such as the fates of the rangers. it's no secret that some of the team is gone at the hands of Drakkon (in his world) but then what's stopping the idea of the other rangers falling to Venjix, or even a timeline that he actually won? there's a lot of easter eggs in seasons like that so who knows what's been found especially since they can travel between them?
her hair changes so much during in space. its cute.
I'd really like to see a video focused on Jen from Time Force!
Astronema is my most favorite PR Villain of the Past.
I also can't believe it's taken them this long to explore Astronema and Ecliptor in the Boom comics given their memorability.
Though I am nervous, one reason among them being that I like the robot interpretation of Ecliptor too and he looks kind of fleshy on those covers.
Honestly I bet that if Tommy was still there during in space he would have gave astronema a chance since he was evil once. Hell he might even have been able to turn ecliptor good as well.
What would be the point of doing that? Fan service? In Space did not need any past Rangers, the season was written with the clear intention of ending the Zordon era. Ecliptor did help Andros, when Darkonda was their common foe. Seriously, why so much emphasis on Tommy? He would steal the light, like in Dimensions in Danger. Andros saving the the universe that way is perfect. Astronema was saved by his brother, Ecliptor was reprogrammed by Darkonda so he could not be turn good.
Darkonda definitely added to that trio of villains
Ecliptor and Astronema was the best story in PR.
I get why Rita and Zedd got spared. The moral lesson is obviously skewed, but the last thing a show would want to do is kill off it's most reliable villains. Better to just write them out and then bring them back if you need to. Zedd could show up in any Ranger series and it would be treated as a big deal.
Great video, I definitely see your point that, things did change fundamentally as a result of the events in the finale of power rangers: in space, and I still get misty-eyed every time I see a clip from the zordon era.
characters to do next-
-wasted potential of-
-zoe, human blaze, human roxy beast morphers
-pre apocalypse ziggy beast morphers
- the 3 sidekick rangers time force
- why reincarnated alex was a jerk in time force
-wasted potential of lauren/jaden backstory
-what happened pre-spd and why the b squad rangers had different backstories if they all shared similar origins
-the alien rangers
character study-
-grace from boom comics
-all the versions of kim
-kat from zeo
Every single retrospective just points to In Space being the best season . Its the most important . it hits om every good bead power rangers ever had . best rangers . best villains & best emotional moments
Ecliptor and Vilamax will always be my two favorite generals. Both were great honorable warriors who cared greatly for their respective master and both had to put up with a despicable and dishonorable general.
Astronema is in my top 5 list of power ranger villians .
in spite of disagreeing with your point in regards to beast morphers, I enjoyed your analysis for ecliptor and astronema.
I would love to see a character analysis on venjix
especially now that Beast Morphers is over lol
Everyone I hear about In Space it makes me want to do another rewatch! Time to add it to my Netflix list AGAIN
Most of the PR seasons were taken off of Netflix.
But there is a UA-cam channel called Power Rangers Official and you can always collect this on DVD.
Just keep making videos like this for as long as you can we love them
Ideas for other character videos:
Adam
Kat Hillard
The Mercers
Master Org
Astronema was, is, and always will be my favorite villain in Power Rangers. Possibly my favorite character PERIOD. In my own Power Rangers fanfiction, I'm basing the plot for the sixth ranger of that story roughly off of Astronema/Karone.
Great, insightful video, once again!
I admire your optimism for the quality of the upcoming Heir to Darkness Astronema comic. BOOM! cant seem to get Karone/Astronema right at all. Not since Shattered Grid/Kyle Higgins, at least.
Yup space had alot of moments where everything the rangers thought they knew was constantly turned into new perspective.
9:48 I think there is more reason that it's just how she was raised. Remember that when it was revealed that they were siblings, Astronema said the Rangers killed her family and it was the lie that they fed her to fuel her hatred for rangers. I like to think that she has been struggling with identity for so long and it's one of the reason she kept her locket necklace close to her. In her mind, hating the power rangers was justified.
The whole Space-Wild Force run was totally awesome but it's just a goddamn shame Lightspeed Rescue couldn't have gotten villains this complex.
Great analysis. Very well done.
Can't wait to see them appear in the comics.
How about Goldar and how he changed as PR kept going.
Astonama was an awesome character. Looking back her redemption took a long time, I wish she could’ve became a ranger sooner but story wise it couldn’t go down like that. For a while the big baddies were a bit boring and astrona made it fresh again.
Also the wig switch ups ...😻
Off Topic Buuut:
Astronema is pretty af
Eclipter was one the Loyalst and Best 2. Commander.
Astronema was very great.
Koragg/Leanbow PLEEEAAAASE! Too many of us just don't give that character the love he deserves
Astronema and Ecliptor are the greatest and the best villain duo. Sometimes they remind me of Baltar and Lucifer from Battlestar Galactica.
No contest, though Jindrax and Toxica from Wild Force seem to be a bit underrated. I would put those two as a close second to Astronema and Ecliptor.
Every time I hear lex Lang talk all i hear ecliptor
And
Every time I hear Steve Kramer talk all I hear darkonda
It’s the same thing with mark hamill as the joker, Kevin conroy as Batman and josh Keaton as Spider-Man
still love them, 2 of the most respected effective & well liked villains, in the franchise not to mention they were some of the first morally grey antagonists of the series
Could try doing more duo character analysis one that I'd be very interested to see is Frax and Zeltrax while they may be from different parts alot of what they went through overlap since they lost everything just because they were trying to help others, while doing the right thing and succumbing to the horrid path that is revenge PS loving the analysis vids so far can't wait to see more in the future
Astronema & Ecliptor: GOOD FILM MY FRIEND LIKE Astronema & Ecliptor:
A video on Kamen Rider Build would be amazing. It's one of my favourites so seeing you talk about it would mean a lot.
I'd love to see a comparison of some of the more honorable villains, like Koragg and Villamax and how they fit the greater narrative of their seasons.
I would suggest Ransik for the next analysis.
I know there isn't a whole lot of content there but Ryan from lightspeed rescue was probably one of the best villain plots in that season. I love that team and am dad that they were held back because of the villains.
I have to say that Karone is one of my favorite characters franchise wide. Great analysis of her and Ecliptor! I’d enjoy seeing an analysis of my other favorite character, Eric Myers.
EDIT: I’d also like to add that this analysis also confirms for me why Zhane/ Karone is my Karone ship. Who better for her to end up with than someone who helped put her on the path to redemption?
A million times better than the absolute nothing of characters that were their Sentai counterparts.
Ransik and Nadira would be awesome
I think Mr Collins from Time Force would make a good video
If you like sympathetic villains you must do Ransik/Frax/Nadira.
I don't know if there's enough for a full analysis, but I'd love to see one on Mora from SPD. She's an interesting concept of a character, especially for that season, and I think she's a fun villain to watch, even if I don't like the Morgana bits as much. But I think there's something to the fact that Mora's greatest fear is being an adult, and her entire time as Morgana she is actively working to become a child again. So Mora would be my vote for a character analysis video.
One of my favourite generals
In space is the best power rangers beside mighty morphin. I would love on on conner or Tommy
I never thought Ecliptor was a robot. I just thought he was so cool looking blocky alien.
I mean, they have weirder alien designs.
Guess I should probably rewatch In Space
I think he’s a robot of some kind in the Japanese counterpart show Denji Senta Megaranger.
I wod like one about Flurious and moltor brother relationship how there ended up haten each other
Or even how thrax sut a been the main villiain inteasd a flurious
definitely watching in space now
Jared would be cool to watch
Astronema got her redemption
I wanted Ecliptor to do so as well
He was evil but only because he did it for Her.
IMO he should have turned into an Elder Man post Z Wave
In space was the best story telling show in my opinion
Am I the only one who kinda feel bad for Ecliptor he gave his life for Astromina despite being made for evil and he died in the end after seeing his daughter like figure death.
I really wish we would've gotten the Purple Space Ranger. Oh, well. Maybe in the comics. haha
In regards to your point against beast morphers, while it's true that robots are often treated as mechanical lifeforms in power rangers, I disagree beast morphers was going against that with Nate and Steel's story. Steel actively wanted to be human and it wasn't because he hated being a robot or because he was being treated poorly due to the fact, he just became really interested in humanity as he kept learning about them and it got to the point that he also wanted to be human because as a robot he wouldn't be able to enjoy or experience certain activities only humans can. It's not breaking any rules, it's just providing a different perspective to a robotic character.
I like the show power rangers in space
Please do Ransik next!
I would love one about the Pink Ranger ... like the pink power coin .. if you really pay attention the pink ranger always goes thru some things from Kimberly hart to krown.... if you know what I mean .. pink ranger always has a good longer story line then other rangers in a lot of power ranger series if I could I’ll make a video about it but I ain’t good like you lol
You should cover the psycho rangers
Can we discuss the fact that every time that pr is at the brink of cancellation their so called "final" season is good. Think about it 🤔
I wasn't a huge fan of rpm and wild force while emotional was kinda lame too in parts
@@Shadothecat there not canceling it judt doing changes look it up
Thank you Karone had a great redemption arc could you do Ransik then Zenaku from Wild force
Love all your videos
It should be best father' and daughter team.
Please do a video on Zen-Aku!
8:50 can somebody remind of that
I kinda forgot
I love these videos showing the stories of the vilians but i just realized all seasons except MMPR had power rangersafter the season name
Mmmm, I really love the dynamic of these two.
It’s not al that often in PR that we see characters that have genuine respect and loyalty towards each other, which is kind of a shame given how much nuance it can add.
Also, Ecliptor deserves to be un-Thanos’d. Bring him back and let him see how his adopted daughter turned out. K thanks bye.
I would like you to go in depth into the character of Eric meyers/quantum ranger.... Also PLEASE REVIEW SINS OF THE FUTURE! I have thoughts on it, but I want to hear your thoughts about it
Time force is my favorite series but in space is the best series
